Hello, can we have the FAQ code on the homepage (staff time)?

we have written some questions and answers in the drop-down list on the homepage,

and also add the schema code script to one tag of the page,

    but it does not work!

Yes, If you have a portion of FAQ's on homepage you can add faq schema to it. It will help in rich snippet.

Yes you could absolutely. However I think you mark up is excellent for a lot of things it’s not known for driving traffic. Just so your aware google tells us ”

        • Don’t use FAQPage for advertising purposes.”

I doubt your homepage would count but you never now in addition FAQ content turns to get clicked on very seldomly.

Because the answers to the questions are found in the SERPS people do not have to leave Google to find the answers

I know taking up more googles real estate sounds good like a featured snippet but not if your customer only cares about the answers & Google is already providing them. Which FAQ does extremely well.

below I tested your page tested as well as a mock up of inappropriately marked up page hopefully this will be of help

also below are what Google considers valid and invalid reasons for FAQ schema

look at the top of the page for errors some of your fonts aren’t loading

        https://search.google.com/test/rich-results?id=0jC1yqgkMNkla7J3F6fEVQ

here’s an example of what it might look like with the correct FAQ markup

        https://search.google.com/test/rich-results?id=zV3BwNJPTbbEsXOj3e3Asg

        See:

One of my favorite tools for generating structured data in JSON-LD  FAQ is built-in.

        https://www.rankranger.com/schema-markup-generator

        https://developers.google.com/search/docs/guides/search-gallery

        test using

        https://search.google.com/test/rich-results

        • Valid use cases:

          • An FAQ page written by the site itself, with no way for users to submit alternative answers
          • A product support page that lists FAQs, with no way for users to submit alternative answers

          Invalid use cases:

          • A forum page where users can submit answers to a single question
          • A product support page where users can submit answers to a single question
          • A product page where users can submit multiple questions and answers on a single page
        • Don’t use FAQPage for advertising purposes.

        • Make sure each Question includes the entire text of the question and make sure each Answer includes the entire text of the answer. The entire question text and answer text may be displayed.

        • Question and answer content may not be displayed as a rich result if it contains any of the following types of content: obscene, profane, sexually explicit, graphically violent, promotion of dangerous or illegal activities, or hateful or harassing language.

        • All FAQ content must be visible to the user on the source page.

        hope this helps,

        Tom

          Shopify: AggregateRating Schema Error

Hi lovely community, I know google made some schema changes in Sept 2019. I got an AggregateRating Error:
One of offers or review or aggregateRating should be provided. I am using a third-party app 'Shopify Product Review' to implement the rating. What I should do to solve this error. Thanks very much for the help! I found many people have this issue too in the community! Many thanks Pui

Can I add external links to my sitemap?

Hi, I'm integrating with a service that adds 3rd-party images/videos (owned by them, hosted on their server) to my site. For instance, the service might have tons of pictures/videos of cars; and then when I integrate, I can show my users these pictures/videos about cars I might be selling. But I'm wondering how to build out the sitemap--I would like to include reference to these images/videos, so Google knows I'm using lots of multimedia. How's the most white-hat way to do that? Can I add external links to my sitemap pointing to these images/videos hosted on a different server, or is that frowned upon? Thanks in advance.

How can I stop spam Google Organic traffic?

Hey Moz, I'm a rather experienced SEO who just encountered a problem I have never faced. I am hoping to get some advice or be pointed in the right direction. I just started work for a new client. Really great client and website. Nicer than most design/content. They will need some rel canonical work but that is not the issue here. The traffic looked great at first glance 131k visits in April. Google Analytics Acquisition Overview showed 94% of the traffic as organic. When I dug deeper and looked at the organic source I saw that Google was 99.9% of it. Normal enough. Then I looked at the time on site and my jaw dropped. 118,454 Organic New Users for Google only stayed on the site for 3 seconds. There is no way that the traffic is real. It does not match what Google Webmaster tools, Moz, and Ahrefs are telling me. How do I stop a service that is sending fake organic Google traffic?

How can I get Bing to index my subdomain correctly?

Hi guys, My website exists on a subdomain (i.e. https://website.subdomain.com) and is being indexed correctly on all search engines except Bing and Duck Duck Go, which list 'https://www.website.subdomain.com'. Unfortunately my subdomain isn't configured for www (the domain is out of my control), so searchers are seeing a server error when clicking on my homepage in the SERPs. I have verified the site successfully in Bing Webmaster Tools, but it still shows up incorrectly. Does anyone have any advice on how I could fix this issue? Thank you!

Hi all, I was wondering if there was some sort of html trick that I could use to selectively tell a search engine to ignore texts on certain parts of a page. Thanks!

H2 Tags- Can you have more than 1 H2 tag

Hi All, Screaming frog has identified that we have a few H2 tags on our pages , although we only have 1 H1 tag. We have numerous H3,H4's etc. I am wondering, is it good SEO to have only 1 H2 tag like with H1 tag or can you have more ? thanks Peter

Keyword Phrases - Can You Break Them Up?

Can you break up a search query across a sentence and have Google still recognize which query you are targeting? Let's say I'm trying to rank a page for the phrase "best haircuts calgary". Is Google's algorithm advanced enough to look at page title "Best Haircuts - Where To Get Them In Calgary" and know it's targeting the query "best haircuts calgary"? If it can't do this right now, I could see it advancing to this at some point in the future, which would then change the game quite a bit in terms of how creative you can get creating pages for queries.
