How Do You Think My Local SEO Multi-location Geotargeting Strategy Will Work?
-
I have a question. I just got a full-time job at Zavza Seal, an upstanding insulation contractor targeting neighborhoods of Suffolk and Nassau counties in New York. I was hired as an SEO content specialist. (Thanks Rand! You're one of my mentors~!) So, they handed me a spreadsheet of pages for city-specific terms, and they had a system in place for local rankings. But I was taught to do service-specific city pages a certain way. If the search term is for people looking for a service in that town, that's what you give them. However, I was told to proofread them, and as an SEO specialist, I couldn't keep my hands off of them. The pages were skimpy. (Example: h2, paragraph, bullets, short paragraph summary, short paragraph about the city.) What threw me off is that the content, while it was service specific, it was blog topics localized. Those are great (when long enough and optimized to compete in SERPs) but I've never seen them done on service pages. (Example: Why is Mold Remediation Necessary in Baldwin?. Now, this went in two directions in my mind. (and I wanted to do the best for the company, because I'm a wicked brat for teams, AND I get commissions on leads, so that was motivation, too.) Anyway, 1. This could be a new approach and worthy of an SEO study on my startup site, where I take on part time clients after work, because I've never seen it done before and it could, if optimized for the target service and city rank high in SERPs AND build thought leadership and authority as a local expert. (Whereas city service pages in standard format would just promote your service. ..) What do you guys think? I just put the topic up for discussion for my team, asked them about it in detail and asked if they wanted to A'/B test a few to see what get's better traction organically. Mr. Fishkin was one of my mentors. I really wish I just had his number for this one LOL.

Congratulations on your new role at Zavza Seal! It's fantastic that you're already thinking creatively about SEO strategies. Your idea of exploring blog-style, localized service pages is intriguing. It could indeed be a unique approach to not only enhance SERP rankings but also establish thought leadership. Discussing it with your team and proposing A/B testing is a great way to gather insights. Trust your instincts and leverage the mentorship you've received, including Mr. Fishkin's guidance. Best of luck with your innovative SEO endeavors!

Local SEO multi-location geotargeting is the process of optimizing your website and online presence to rank well in search results for multiple locations. This can be a complex process, but it is essential for businesses that operate in multiple locations.
[Read the Complete Article "Local SEO Multi-location Geotargeting Strategy"]
Here is a step-by-step guide to developing a local SEO multi-location geotargeting strategy:
-
Create a separate landing page for each location. Each landing page should be optimized for the specific location it represents, including the local address, phone number, and keywords.
-
Optimize your Google My Business (GMB) profile for each location. Your GMB profile is one of the most important factors in local SEO, so make sure it is accurate and complete. Be sure to include your local address, phone number, website, and a description of your business.
-
Get local citations. Citations are mentions of your business name, address, and phone number (NAP) on other websites. The more citations you have, the more likely you are to rank well in local search results.
-
Build local backlinks. Backlinks are links from other websites to your own. They are an important factor in SEO, and they can help you rank higher in search results. When building backlinks, focus on getting links from high-quality, relevant websites.
-
Create and publish local content. Local content is content that is relevant to the specific locations you serve. This could include blog posts, articles, videos, or infographics. By publishing local content, you can demonstrate your expertise and authority to search engines and potential customers.

Semantic keywords
Hi All
Content Development | | Jes79us
I hope someone could share their experience with dealing with semantic keywords.
My website offers SEO services in the area of Basel and ranks for the major keywords on the first page. However, I recently created another page that should rank for "SEO-Agentur Basel" and the URL is making its way to the results.
As I haven't set any canonical page yet and as I don't want my website to rank from the homepage anymore but rather get more traffic and high ranking from this URL. What would be your suggestion when it comes to semantic keywords for "SEO Basel"?
I'd appreciate any suggestions.

National services provider and localized SEO (no physical stores)
Doing work for a telecom provider who operates in over 25 states. They are not trying to drive traffic to their brick-and-mortar stores. They want their marketing website to show products/services/pricing dynamically when a user enters their zip code. Previously, we could not show this until the shopper was already in the purchase flow that began with their serviceable address. They want to move these location-based details more forward in the shopping experience. They would likely have a "default" zip and set of services/pricing displaying until a user changes their location. My question is how does Google treat local SEO on a site where all location-targeted content is dynamic? Will the website suffer in localized search, when a shopper, say, in Colorado, wants to search for Internet providers? Is it better to have distinct landing pages for each territory with services/pricing?

I noticed on all the directories Moz Local connects to our Ste # isn't being pushed, why isn't Moz Local pushing Address Line 2? Without our Suite # now all of the directories are incorrect.

What happens with SEO when a site is served via CloudFlare CDN?
Hello, With regards to hosting, it is my understanding that one of the search engine ranking factors for a particular geographic location (city/country) is where a site is hosted physically geographically. For example, if a site was developed for New York users primarily AND it was hosted on a server physically located within New York (IP address) then it would rank better in New York ... that is, given all other SEO ranking factors were equal? Is this true? My worry is that once a site is served via CloudFlare via their 64 global cached locations, then do the search engines effectively lose all context as to its origin hosting and therefore hosting in New York (in the example above) would have no different effect than if the site was hosted on Mars (after the site had been cached, that is). Many thanks,

My First SEO strategy - What's next?
I have recently embarked on an SEO strategy for my website. I've done a lot of reading and researching here on Moz and on search engine land and have got a good idea of how to build a basic SEO strategy. My own expertise is in PPC, so keyword strategy came easy to me. I rebuilt my website and focused on the on page SEO with every single page, this has brought really great results - instantly. For some of my chosen keywords I have gone from not being ranked to being on Google's first page - within a couple of days of my new website going live, for other's I've gone from being outside the top 50 to being ranked in the top 50, so my on page SEO has really strengthened my position and I now understand how important it is as a ranking factor. I've also started to create content on a regular basis with 2 or 3 new blogs being uploaded each week, the blogs are based around my businesses main target market's - PPC, Web design, digital marketing etc. These blogs have a lot of links out to good websites, EG "to learn about adwords check out the adwords fundamentals course on lynda.com" and useful info like that. I also signed up to whitespark for citation idea's so have started adding my site to all relevant directory suggestions that it gives me. So my question is this, after seeing great early results because of my on page SEO, what are my next steps to increase my rankings? And more specifically how do I use Moz to help increase my ranking? During the week, I've started using Open site explorer to find my competitors backlinks, should I now spend my time trawling through these links to find opportunities to add links for my website where I can. Is this a good thing to be doing at this stage? Anything else that I should be doing now to capitalise on my early results please let me know what it is and please tell me how to take full advantage of Moz to gain a better ranking. I appreciate all insight!

Local SEO same company two different locations
I have a client who has 2 locations approx 20 miles apart. He wants to reach new customers at the second office location. He is an owner of a law firm he practices elder law, in the second location he has an attorney who practices injury law. The second location is in an area where targeting prospects for elder law could also be lucrative. We currently have two separate websites for each area of law. My question is... Would it be suggested to create another elder law website to target the potential clients in this second location. Also for the first location we have put in place a content marketing strategy that has increased revenue considerably. Basically creating content (blog posts) that resonate with the target audience. If a new website is in order can the blog post be posted here too with a canonical referencing the original website. Im thinking a slow redistribution of content on the new site. Advice here is greatly appreciated as this new market for my client could increase revenue even more.

Local SEO?
Hello everyone, I've just been through the Moz Local learning area, which is pretty informative. However, a lot of it seems like good practice for general online marketing (mobile friendly websites, goals per page...). I'm new to all this - am I missing the point? William
