Selling Products with a similar meta description

Wondering if anyone can help when selling similar products with very similar meta description and product descriptions in general.
Have around 500 products - a lot of products have around 10-20 products which are very similar only different is sizes and a maybe a few lines of text if that.
Is this a problem in search engines? How does other ecommerce stores selling similar products solve this problem...

Well in that case then i would be wary of duplicate content & descriptions etc
I would really focus on trying to develop content/product descriptions to highlight differences between them

I know it's time consuming but best would be to create unique content for all those. You can play a lot with differences between keywords, call-to-actions and unique selling points in the title and meta description.

Yes, I understand this. But, the products are similar but not variations.
For example bikes; have different models, types, but the overall descriptions are pretty much the same.
We have found customers prefer products of each to search rather then clicking options for this and that.
Hope this makes it more understandable to what I am trying to say.

It depends how similar the products are, if they are simply variations of the same products then i would just list the 1 product and then give multiple options for the different variations. For example 1 product page for 'Suede Shoes' with selectable further options/variations of that product i.e. Colours available (blue, red, pink) and size available (8, 9, 10 etc)

How do I fix duplicate page issue on Shopify with duplicate products because of collections.
I'm working with a new client with a site built on Shopify. Most of their products appear in four collections. This is creating a duplicate content challenge for us. Can anyone suggest specific code to add to resolve this problem. I'm also interested in other ideas solutions, such as "don't use collections" if that's the best approach. I appreciate your insights. Should I add PDF manuals to my product pages?
Hello. A lot of the products I sell on my e-commerce site are very technical. I decided to add PDF data sheets, manuals etc on each of the product pages to improve the customer experience. Now I am not sure if it was the best thing to do. I have noticed a couple of times that the PDF is out ranking the product page in the SERP. For a few products, the PDF ranks but the product page doesn't. Anyone got any ideas?

Meta Title Pipes and Spacing
I've been doing optimization on a clients website and want to make sure I'm maximizing my characters. Does anyone have any feedback on the spacing in between the pipes ( | ) ? IE: Internet Marketing Company | Denver SEO | Brand Name Do the spaces before and after the pipes play a role in whether the search engines can distinguish the keyword or is it all considered one word if there is no spaces such as: IE: Internet Marketing Company|Denver SEO|Brand Name Any information will be super helpful. Are blank Product Review pages bad for SEO?
Hi there, I'm running a new e-commerce site (BoatOutfitters.com) and have a question about our product review pages. On our current campaign, we have a lot of duplicate page content errors. When we export the data, it's almost all blank product review pages (since we are new, we don't have that many product reviews yet). Our product reviews aren't run through javascript, so we originally did not add them to a robots.txt file - however, I'm now wondering if it's worse to have all of these duplicate blank pages, or is it not affecting our SEO at all? Should we just wait until these products have reviews which will benefit our SEO and then they won't be considered "duplicate pages" - right? Sorry if this has been answered before - new here at SEO Moz and just looking for some help. Thanks!

Does keyword at the very front of meta description have impact?
I know that it is important to have your primary keyword target as the first word or two words of your title tag. But what about your meta description tag? does it matter where they keyword is in the description tag? I see a lot of other sites stuffing their keywords right at the front of the description tag and it looks somewhat unnatural. What's your take? do you put the primary keyword as the first word or two words of your description tag?

Are Amazon meta tags efficient?
We are probably all familiar with general and Google guidelines for writing title and description tags.
