BOTW.Org - Worth It?
-
I noticed that BOTW.org has gone from a historic PR6 to a PR4 currently.
They also have gone up significantly in price for $69 or so to $149 annually or $299 one-time fee.
This is quite high and with PR4 now, I'm not sure if it's really worth submitting to for this price.
Agree / Disagree?

No Longer free. $149

On April 20, BOTW is having a 50% off day. Anyone thinking of it might want to take a look:
Use Promo code SINCE94 starting at 12:01am EST on 4/20 and receive an instant 50% off discount on all directory submissions, local listings, bundles and sponsorships.

If you go to the directory itself and navigate to a category, then click submit on the right it gives you an option for a free submission. I had the same issue myself until I realized that.

thanks! I'll give that a try! we do have several blogs!
-
I just checked, and it looks like they charge to add a blog -- $150 annually or $300 one-time. They had no free option.
-
Alittle of topic but FYI, It's free atm to add your blog to botw Blogs http://blogs.botw.org/
So if you have a blog, add it. I added mine and get listed within a few months.
They also have strict submission criteria which means they are still a quality directory.

Well, I'm thankful that I submitted my main website about 10 years ago or so when it was a lot cheaper! And that has remained in there.
I was considering submitting another site, but the other site is not a money-maker at this point, and is more of a personal hobby to some degree, so not worth the fee. If it was $69 like before, I may have considered, and definitely it was still PR6.
Wondering when and why it went to PR4.

BOTW is just another link and citation. If you are having trouble getting quality links naturally from around the web, then BOTW is most likely worth the money. I heard a recent Matt Cutts video where he did speak favorably of BOTW. However, I strongly advise you to try to create likable content that can easily be shared.
-
Few ways to look at it I guess...
-
PageRank is a shaky metrics to use for analysis any way.
-
Its an easily achieved, followed link simply by shedding some cash.
-
Its $149 or $299 - how does that sit vs, your marketing/link acqusition budget as a total? what is normal cost per acquisition? I don't mean in terms of buying links directly, but producing "stuff" that helps you to acquire them.
In essence, can you acquire as good if not better links for a lot cheaper? If so....save your money, invest it elsewhere.
If budget existed for directory listings I would still pop myself in there personally.

Is it worth pursing PR and guest posting just for links?
I'm still new to SEO, but I have a decent foundation on it. To me, it seems like guest posting and earning PR on quality sites is good for the coverage, but will those one-off links really make a difference? I'd have to assume that SEOs earn their worth when they build scalable links (i.e. tools that people link to, guides, etc) So, while PR is nice, I feel as if I shouldn't focus my time there, but spending time on building a product such as QuickSprout.com's SEO audit tool, Cappex's college match tool, CNN's budget calculator, Moz's google weather report, etc.

BBB links - worth it?
This is a "paid link" so I'm naturally skeptical. But I'm wondering if the SEO value plus the usability of a potential client clicking the BBB link to our site would be worth it.

What are inbound links worth after Panda and Penguin, since a site ranks for the NATIONAL keyword "outdoor furniture" with ONLY 7 INBOUND LINKS!?!?
ARE INBOUND LINKS TODAY ALMOST WORTHLESS??!!? After having been the KING of SEO, down to the toilet? Today I got a great sample from a fellow SEO professional showing a site, rockymountainfurniture.com rank for "outdoor furniture" with ONLY 7 INBOUND LINKS FROM 3 DOMAINS and a domain trust of 14!!!! ON A NATIONAL, VALUABLE, HIGH QUERY VOLUME KEYWORD!! I was stunned, but is this the "NEW SEO WORLD" we live in, so we should skip spending hundreds of hours on link building? There are over 32 different types of inbound links but this is much MORE than a radical change, this is turning SEO as it was up-side-down. Any input, thoughts, ideas?

Is using a tool such as My Blog Guest worth it?
I saw the post http://www.seomoz.org/blog/4-valuable-link-building-services and saw that MyBlogGuest seems like a good link building service, so I signed up. It really is confusing though, it almost makes me think I have to install WP Blogs on my sites which primarily run in Joomla, so linking directly to the blog is not an option. Okay, fine, so I'll just skip the part about putting in offers on other people's posts. I really signed up for the link building part of it anyways. So, now, I just write content in the site-used article generator? Then, go in and offer it manually to people? Doesn't really strike me as some super powerful method of linkbuilding, but there's a good chance I'm missing something. If this is the case, I'd assume I'd have to write content that is relevant to the site that I am trying to build links for, and then place links back to that site, so basically I want my posts on competitors sites and that will help out with backlinks and authority? It's really confusing. I just want to have my content writer write good content and get links from it, and this method just confuses me. I'd appreciate any insight from anyone who has used that service or can recommend something easier or better.

Is it ever the case that a link isn't worth having?
We have been asked to provide a link on our website to a website which provides us with recycled computers to use (our company brand is based around recycling). They have agreed that we will get a reciprocal link back to our site. However the comparisons show that - perhaps this isn't worth it? Our page authority: 39, theirs 26. Our domain authority: 41, theirs 14. Our linking root domains: 41 theirs 7. Finally their links are in the # [li] list [/li] # format I guess my question is threefold: 1 - Will they get significantly more out of this linking opportunity than we will? 2 - Is it worth having the link anyway? (Can it hurt us in any way?). 3 - Does having links in the # [li] list [/li] # format effect the power of the links contained? Thanks.
