H2 Tag Backlink - is this safe?

I have found that my site is getting a link from a good site, but my concern is that the link is in a H2 tag in the footer of the front page of the site
Would getting a link from a site wrapped in H2 tags be safe?
The anchor is my sites brand name

Great thanks. Yes I think you are correct, the H tag is the same colour as the non link text so you dont actually know its a live link.
I will ask them to change it.

Oh well if it's actual content - i.e. they've written something about your business on the page and it's not just a 'footer link' then I can't see any problem at all in that being the link.
I think you may find you get more traffic if the link is in the text or a 'View their website' style link after the content - as it's more obvious to users that it's a link off to somewhere. From an SEO perspective I can't see an issue with this, but in terms of traffic potential possibly a better place would be in or just after the content about your business.

Yes its not site wide, its just in the footer on the page. We are a supporter of their business and they have put a small section about us on their site. The title of the section is our brand name and that is what is linked.
Would it be better to ask for the heading to have the link removed, and the link to be put in the text?
Yes their site isnt the best optimised from what I understand, but it does get a lot of traffic and has a lot of links to it.
Their site is a non profit company

I don't see how the H2 tag itself would be a problem. A bit strange from the linking site's on-page optimisation though.
What concerns me is that it's in the footer - unless it's not site-wide that could be an issue. And it may not result in traffic for you due to it not being seen.
The branded anchor text is good - as that's non-spammy.
So just check
- Not a site-wide link
- That they could change it from a H2 as that's not great for their SEO. (Add value to them!)

Should I disable the indexing of tags in Wordpress?
Hi, I have a client that is publishing 7 or 8 news articles and posts each month. I am optimising selected posts and I have found that they have been adding a lot of tags (almost like using hashtags) . There are currently 29 posts but already 55 tags, each of which has its own archive page, and all of which are added to the site map to be indexed (https://sykeshome.europe.sykes.com/sitemap_index.xml). I came across an article (https://crunchify.com/better-dont-use-wordpress-tags/) that suggested that tags add no value to SEO ranking, and as a consequence Wordpress tags should not be indexed or included in the sitemap. I haven't been able to find much more reliable information on this topic, so my question is - should I get rid of the tags from this website and make the focus pages, posts and categories (redirecting existing tag pages back to the site home page)? It is a relatively new websites and I am conscious of the fact that category and tag archive pages already substantially outnumber actual content pages (posts and news) - I guess this isn't optimal. Changing title tags - any potential issues?
Hello all, I am planning to change the title tags throughout a site and am vaguely aware (perhaps wrongly!) that changing title tags across a site is a risk factor - can be a spam flag if changes (to a specific title tag) are implemented too regularly, for example. Would you change title tags across a site in one go, or implement changes gradually - to avoid any risk of upsetting Google. Do you have any insights/tips on the implementation of title tag changes?

Adding a Canonical Tag to each page referencing itself?
Hey Mozers! I've noticed that on www.Zappos.com they have a Canonical tag on each page referencing it self. I have heard that this is a popular method but I dont see the point in canon tagging a page to its self. Any thoughts?

Backlinks from Chinese Big sites
Hello, I wish I know your position regarding backlinks from chinese websites. I am able to get a text link(from homepage) from a very big site in chinese. It has PR8 and over 10M users monthly. My site is in english. Will it help me ? Will I be penalised (my site is 5 years old, PR4) and some decent traffic(6-7k daily) Thanks!

Canonical Tag and Affiliate Links
Hi! I am not very familiar with the canonical tag. The thing is that we are getting traffic and links from affiliates. The affiliates links add something like this to the code of our URL: www.mydomain.com/category/product-page?afl=XXXXXX At this moment we have almost 2,000 pages indexed with that code at the end of the URL. So they are all duplicated. My other concern is that I don't know if those affilate links are giving us some link juice or not. I mean, if an original product page has 30 links and the affiliates copies have 15 more... are all those links being counted together by Google? Or are we losing all the juice from the affiliates? Can I fix all this with the canonical tag? Thanks!

Why SEOmoz says to keep title tag not more than 65 character?
Why SEOmoz says to keep title tag not more than 65 characters? I have this question that what is the disadvantage if my meta title is 150 character? Why everyone focus in keeping it short ? If i put all my important keywords in starting of title tag say in first 65 characters and keep the title 100-150 character how can it hurt my website? Google will consider 65 character, right but it won’t penalize me for having 110 character then please explain Why we focus so much… 🙂 I know i used too many why 🙂 just to tell i am nt a lawyer 😉 just trying to act like one 🙂 , just kidding.
