Multiple Authors Google + Authorship
-
Hello,
I took a look through past questions but can't seem to find a definitive answer on setting up Google + Authorship credit (for multiple authors) using a Wordpress blog.
Has anyone had experience setting this up?
Or could you recommend solid reading/research?
I took a look at a couple of Wordpress plug in's but just found them very confusing (so did our IT contact who will ultimately be setting up code for this.)
Any direction or advice is appreciated.

Can this override the automatic authorship system where every page on a domain has been approved as by an author??
-
This is helpful! I just tried to add myself as a contributor to the blog on my Google plus profile. However, I keep receiving a 'Please enter a valid URL.' message.
Our blog is www.cushingco.com/blog - I am guessing the /blog is the issue?
Will it work if I am contributing to www.cushingco.com

I've attached a screenshot of what you should be looking for. You need to go to your dashboard -> users -> all users -> then select any user.
There should be several fields including your bio area...as per the attached. Mine is filled in with my google plus proifle.
Something I forgot to mention is that your user will also need to add themselves as a contributor to the blog on their Google plus profile. I have attached a link to my google plus profile. If you check out the about section you will see about two thirds down a section where is says 'contributor to'. Here you add the url to the blog. This links the two.

1. You need to link the blog to the G+ Profile
2. You need to confirm in G+ that you are truly a contributor to that blog (or you could add any old superior influencer)
That should be it.

Thanks to you both for the replies! So far, we have our Users set up.
Under 'Biographical Info' we have a short bio on the author with a link to the Google + profile.
(I don't see a Google + Profile URL. section.)
Takeshi, are you saying each post our author adds to the blog need to have a link back to the 'Biographical Info' page?
'Biographical Info'

You don't need a plugin to set up authorship for multiple authors.
All you need is that all your authors have a Google + account.
If you go into Users in wordpress and set up your users/authors. ( I presume you already have these users set up as authors if they are already writing content?). When they are set up as an author, you go into the user profile and add their Google+ profile link into the section on their profile where is says Google + Profile URL. You do this for each author on the site.
Then, when any author writes a post, they just need to ensure they are writing as their user profile name (i.e. they are logged in as themselves) and that should cover it.
The admin can change the author of a post by doing a quick edit on the list of posts - when it drops down there should be an 'author' section where you can select a list of authors. This list is your users and each of these need to have their Google+ profile url added to their user profile in wordpress.
Hope that makes sense!

It's pretty simple. Wordpress already has the concept of authors, with each author having their own bio page (www.domain.com/author/name).
So to add authorship, in your posts, make sure that the author's name in their byline is a link linking to their bio page, using the rel="author" markup. Many themes already do this automatically, but if not edit your posts.php and add it in.
Then, on the bio page just add a link to the author's Google+ profile using rel="me". That's it.

How does Google handle fractions in titles?
Which is better practice, using 1/2" or ½"? The keyword research suggests people search for "1 2" with the space being the "/". How does Google handle fractions? Would ½ be the same as 1/2?

Google does not want to index my page
I have a site that is hundreds of page indexed on Google. But there is a page that I put in the footer section that Google seems does not like and are not indexing that page. I've tried submitting it to their index through google webmaster and it will appear on Google index but then after a few days it's gone again. Before that page had canonical meta to another page, but it is removed now.

Page position dropped on Google
Hey Guys, My web designer has recommended this forum to use, the reason being: my google position has been dropped from page 1 to page 10 in the last week. The site is weloveschoolsigns.co.uk, but our main business site is textstyles.co.uk the school signs are a product of text styles. I have been told off my SEO company, that because I have changed the school logo to the text styles logo, Google have penalised me for it, and dropped us from page 1 for numerous keywords, to page 10 or more. They have also said that duplicate content within the school site http://www.weloveschoolsigns.co.uk/school-signs-made-easy/ has also a contributed to the drop in positions. (this content is not on the textstyles site) Lastly they said, that having the same telephone number is a definate no no. They said that I have been penalised, because google see the above as trying to monopolise on the market. I don’t know if all this is true, as the SEO is way above my head, but they have quoted me £1250 to repair all the errors, when the site only cost £750. They have also mentioned that because of the above changes, the main text styles site will also be punished. Any thoughts on this matter would be much appreciated as I don't know whether to pay them to crack on, or accept the new positions. Either way I'm very confused. Thanks Thomas

My own brand name disappeared from google?
Hi, about 20-30 hours ago my own brand name disappeared from google results (We redirected old domain to new one about a month ago) My website is: www.websiteplanet.com If you search for Website Planet in google you will not find our homepage any longer.

Not only that the brand name disappeared but we also dropped in rankings and lost about %50 of the organic traffic we had. It's important for me to say that we have never done any sort of blackhat or even greyhat SEO, at all. I could probably come up with many ideas of why it happened but maybe one of you mozzers already experienced this and could enlighten me. Will really appreciate any kind of response/help. Thanks.0 -
Does Google index url with hashtags?
We are setting up some Jquery tabs in a page that will produce the same url with hashtags. For example: index.php#aboutus, index.php#ourguarantee, etc. We don't want that content to be crawled as we'd like to prevent duplicate content. Does Google normally crawl such urls or does it just ignore them? Thanks in advance.

Hosting images on multiple domains
I'm taking the following from http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/rules.html "Splitting components allows you to maximize parallel downloads. Make sure you're using not more than 2-4 domains because of the DNS lookup penalty. For example, you can host your HTML and dynamic content on www.example.org and split static components between static1.example.org and static2.example.org" What I want to do is load page images (it's an eCommerce site) from multiple sub domains to reduce load times. I'm assuming that this is perfectly OK to do - I cannot think of any reason that this wouldn't be a good tactic to go with. Does anyone know of (or can think of) a reason why taking this approach could be in any way detrimental. Cheers mozzers.

Check Google ban on domainname
Hello all, If I wanted to know if a domainname has a google ban on it would the following be a good idea to test it. Place an article on the domain page with unique content and then link to the page so its gets indexed and then link to the article from a well indexed page. If it doesn't get indexed there might be a ban on the page, if it does get indexed there is no ban on the page... Or are there other points I should keep in mind while doing this. All help is very welcome. Cheers, Arnout
