Data highlighter in WMT displays old version of page
-
I want to mark up a business address for Google Local, so I thought I would use the data highlighter in WMT. However I only just added the address to the the bottom of the home page and when using data highlighter iit is giving me the old version of page to mark up without the address on.
Rather frustrating, does any body have any experience on the time frame until Google updates the page in the data highlighter?
According to this thread it's not even related to the page re caching: Data Highlighter: Start link is pulling an old version of page
-
OK I just checked it and it is now updated to the correct preview.
So it took up to approx 19 hours to change. Although bear in mind I wasn't checking it all the time, could be faster. Also note, if you have started highlighting the old version, when you go back into the saved one it will still have the old preview, so you need to start over again.
I can also confirm the preview in the data highlighter is not connected to Google's cache of the page in the index, as the old version of the page is still cached.

Thanks for the tips Thomas. I had considered doing it 'manually' but wanted to experiment with the data highlighter tool.
I'll keep on eye on it and report back the time it took Google to update to the correct preview.

The only thing I can think of is Google is showing you what it last indexed and that does sound strange. However there is a other way to put your address on schema properly and quickly so you'll get the local search results you want.
Use this tool http://www.feedthebot.com/tools/address/
it's 100% free and has a lot of extra tools connected that are great
You can also utilize
If you prefer to use micro data which is almost the same thing as schema you can use this tool.
http://www.microdatagenerator.com/
However I have been told not to mix the two causes some issues with search engines. So take schema or micro data is what I have recently been told I have been trying to get a solid confirmation so I think it's a possibility that it would make sense but don't want to tell you something that is not true.
My $.02 use the 1st tool and it will do the job just fine.
It is in the form of a Word press plug-in but also gives you the ability to create schema correctly right on the site and paste it into your code.
The nice thing about it is there's a little box to the right that gives you a exact match of what it's going to look like on your site.
If you don't want it to look like it formatted anything I would use the 1st tool. However both of them are excellent.
One last thing if you're using WordPress consider Yoast Local SEO it seems expensive but does a fantastic job

How long will old pages stay in Google's cache index. We have a new site that is two months old but we are seeing old pages even though we used 301 redirects.
Two months ago we launched a new website (same domain) and implemented 301 re-directs for all of the pages. Two months later we are still seeing old pages in Google's cache index. So how long should I tell the client this should take for them all to be removed in search?

How to increase Page authority of old blog posts
Hi, How can I increase the page authority of old blog posts? There are many posts that are ranking well (Page 1 lower or Page 2) - but I want to make them rank higher by making the post more usable, better UI, design, content relaunches etc - these all would inherently mean improving Page authority also eventually. What are some concrete steps I can take to improve page authority of blog pages?

Exact match .org Ecommerce: Reason why internal page is ranking over home page
Hello, We have a new store where an internal category page (our biggest category) is moving up ahead of the home page. What could be the reason for this? It's an exact match .org. Over-optimization? Something else? It happened both when I didn't optimize the home page title tag and when I did for the main keyword, i.e. mainkeyword | mainkeyword.org, or just mainkeyword.org Home Page. Both didn't help with this. We have very few backlinks. Thanks

Orphan My Home Page
I want to orphan a home page on a site that I own so that the start page becomes site.com/home (or whatever) as opposed to site.com/. I need to accomplish this without associating the former with the latter...meaning no 301. Since this will not be a temporary move, 302 does not seem to work either. And even if I could use it, I don't want to credit / with anything from /home. Is there any way to default the Apache handler to /home without rewriting the URL? Or is there any other solution? The bottom line is, at the end of the day, I need Google to forget about / and anything associated with it, without interrupting the user experience when they request /. Thanks in advance.

Can use of the id attribute to anchor t text down a page cause page duplication issues?
I am producing a long glossary of terms and want to make it easier to jump down to various terms. I am using the<a id="anchor-text" ="" attribute="" so="" am="" appending="" #anchor-text="" to="" a="" url="" reach="" the="" correct="" spot<="" p=""></a> <a id="anchor-text" ="" attribute="" so="" am="" appending="" #anchor-text="" to="" a="" url="" reach="" the="" correct="" spot<="" p="">Does anyone know whether Google will pick this up as separate duplicate pages?</a> <a id="anchor-text" ="" attribute="" so="" am="" appending="" #anchor-text="" to="" a="" url="" reach="" the="" correct="" spot<="" p="">If so any ideas on what I can do? Apart from not do it to start with? I am thinking 301s won't work as I want the URL to work. And rel=canonical won't work as there is no actual page code to add it to. Many thanks for your help Wendy</a>

Bridge page problem
Hello I run this website, http://www.bestillkredittkort.no (Norwegian website) I'm working all i can to make it rank, so i wanted to test adwords to see how good the page converted.

.
Problem is my page got labeled bridge page. I have read the Google guideline for fixing bridge page and tried to fix what they suggest to make them accept the page, but its not working. I might think there's a underlying problem here, but im not sure how to fix it. I've even seen People from the same niche running adwords campaign with less content on the target page. Last time i tried to recheck if my site would get approved. I ran over the quality score tab. And when it was in pending it showed 10/10 in every aspect. was that just a sample ? I'm realy confused on this one. And im afraid it might be a problem witht the page that can destroy my seo efforts. Anyone have any suggestion or feedback on this one?0 -
Should I index tag pages?
Should I exclude the tag pages? Or should I go ahead and keep them indexed? Is there a general opinion on this topic?
