How to Delete the slug /category/ from wordpress category pages
-
Hi all,
I would like to ask you what's the better way to eliminate the slug /category/ form the wordpress category pages. I need to delete the slug /category/ to make the url seo frendly. The problem is that my site is an old site with the page indexed by Google for a long time.
Thanks for your advice.

Hi,
What David mentioned in his response is the best way to remove the /category/ from the URL. However, based on your comment, you can't remove the /category/ because it conflicts with the page URLs which kind of contradict your initial question.
I would suggest reworking on the page URL and the category URL. If you use 301 redirect to redirect the old URL to the new URL, everything should be fine once Google crawls your site again and see the redirect.

Hi David, thanks for your answer.
I usually use the plugin Wordpress Seo By Yoast to "Strip the category base (usually /category/) from the category URL" but in this case I'm not able to use it because It makes conflict with the pages url.
Regards.

If you're using the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin (which is the best for SEO, in my opinion), and you go under Permalinks within the SEO menu, the first item on the list is the option to "Strip the category base (usually
/category/
) from the category URL."If you do this, I would of course first compile a list of your current category URLs and all the URLs that live under them, and drop them into whatever you use for 301 redirects (I use a plugin called Redirection, which is great) and redirect everything on that list to the version of that URL without the /category/.

Sudden decrease in indexed AMP pages after 8/1/16 update
After the AMP update on 8/1/16, the number of AMP pages indexed suddenly dropped by about 50% and it's crushing our search traffic- I haven't been able to find any documentation on any changes to look out for and why we are getting a penalty- any advice or something I should look out for?

New site: More pages for usability, or fewer more detailed pages for greater domain authority flow?
Ladies and gents! We're building a new site. We have a list of 28 professions, and we're wondering whether or not to include them all on one long and detailed page, or to keep them on their own separate pages. Thinking about the flow of domain authority - I could see 28 pages diluting it quite heavily - but at the same time, I think having the separate pages would be better for the user. What do you think?

Author schema and Wordpress Author Page
Hi everyone, Has anyone tried using the author schema on their Wordpress author page or on their G+ profile or on their Moz profile? Would it be a good idea to always use it where you publish? I publish on several blogs Thanks Carla example: Use it here - http://www.posicionamientowebenbuscadores.com/blog/author/carla/ http://moz.com/community/users/392216 It seems like I would be over doing it.

Does google like Category pages or pages with lots of Products on them?
We are having an issue with getting Google to rank the page we want. To have this page http://www.jakewilson.com/c/52/-/346/Cruiser-Motorcycle-Tires rank for the key word Cruiser Motorcycle Tires; however, this page http://www.jakewilson.com/t/52/-/343/752/Cruiser-Motorcycle-Tires is ranking instead and it has less links and page authority according to site explorer and it is farther down in the hierarchy. I am wondering if google just likes pages that have actual products on them instead of a page leading to the page with all the products. Thoughts?

Home Page .index.htm and .com Duplicate Page Content/Title
I have been whittling away at the duplicate content on my clients' sites, thanks to SEOmoz's pro report, and have been getting push back from the account manager at register.com (the site was built here and the owner doesn't want to move it). He says these are the exact same page and he can't access one to redirect to the other. Any suggestions? The SEOmoz report says there is duplicate content on both these urls: Durango Mountain Biking | Durango Mountain Resort - Cascade Village http://www.cascadevillagehotel.com/index.htm Durango Mountain Biking | Durango Mountain Resort - Cascade Village http://www.cascadevillagehotel.com/ Your help is greatly appreciated! Should I Block Tag, Category, Author Pages
Just finished reviewing the first crawl of my first SEOmoz campaign for a site that I am working on. The site I"m working on uses Wordpress as a CMS, and most if not all of the warnings and notices have to do with author, category, and tag pages. Should I block these from being indexed? Why or why not?
