Google Page Rank of my site has dropped from 4/10 to 3/10
-
Google Page rank of my website has been dropped after Panda Update. Can anyone help me out to tell me the possible reasons about the same. We have tried to make our website more lively and user friendly. We have indulged some graphics to make it more attractive. But it seems it backfired us. my site is http://www.myrealdata.com as well as Google page ranking of my Quickbooks hosting page has been dropped as well. It would be great if someone can help me out with expert suggestions.

Getting great links is the way to go, but that can be easier said than done. Primarily you want to attract natural links through the promoting content, but you can build links too. Have a look at these tools: http://www.seomoz.org/labs/link-finder/index.php and http://www.seomoz.org/link-finder

Thanks alot for the help and great suggestions. What should I do to improve my domain and page authority.

My PR also went from 4 to 3, but one of my blogs went from 2 to 3. I haven't seen a difference in traffic or rankings yet. Steves advice is solid and my best recommendation is to just keep looking and getting high quality links and writing high quality content. The new webinar has some great incites on this.
Your website, by the way, looks great.

I would recommend you visit conceptfeedback.com
There's a free and paid service. Paid is relatively inexpensive for what you get, but if you give some reviews yourself then you can get reviews in return from others, some of which are design and UX experts who provide comprehensive stuff. Well worth it I think

Thanks all for the response, specially Steve for analyzing my web page as well. It seems like I have SEO experts to help me out. I would request though if some one can let me know how can I improve the user experience on my site while analyzing my site. It would be a great help. I have mentioned about my site in my question itself.

I agree with Steve but wanted to add a bit.
You don't see your true PR. Google updates PR internally on a frequent (?daily) basis, but we do not see it. They update the toolbar that we see 3 or 4 times each year.
The PR number you see is truncated. Your prior PR may have been 40 and showed as 4. Your PR may now be 39 and show as 3. So a 1 point drop may be extremely minor.

@Panu, I believe you might be missing the relevancy of the Panda affected sites' links and their impact on PR. Most of the sites negatively affected by Panda have links to other sites. The value of those links are now devalued, so the PR of the pages receiving those links would also be impacted.
-
Your Google PageRank went down immediately after some of your linking websites lost their PageRank or cut their links to you. Toolbar PageRank updates rarely so you couldn't see it until now. Timing with Panda is accidental and not related to your PageRank change. Nothing to worry about and keep up with great content and good design. New thing to keep an eye on is user experience, however links are still very strong as a factor so you should try to earn great links as well.
-
If your rankings haven't dropped don't worry. PR has been a useless statistic for a long time. And like Steve said, Panda update has nothing to do with PR since PR is based on links, Panda deals with content.
-
I wouldn't worry about the PR. It won't be due to content changes anyway, since PR is based on incoming links only and has nothing to do with what you have on-page. We've gone from PR 4 to PR 5 with the update but I don't care as I practically ignore PR now anyway... can't wait for them to hopefully get rid of it. It's one tiny metric which isn't a true reflection of what they have anyway. So much more that matters.
At the moment you have a direct link from the homepage to the quickbooks hosting page with anchor text in the footer. Above that, you have some body content about quickbooks hosting (still on the homepage), put a link in there to the quickbooks hosting page. Body content links are better than footer links by far.
Also it seems that you've had the following URL's for that page:
/quickbooks-hosting.html
/host-quickbooks.html
/hosted-quickbooks.htmlWere/are these all the same page just with URL changes? Have you put 301's in for them so that both older URL's point to the new one?

Do sites with more pages rank better?
If a site has more pages and also has good internal linking, then logically it would rank better. Is this the case? Should I be building big (but high quality) sites?

Google Indexed = 35, 445 pages, Bing Indexed = 243 pages... Why?
Dear MozSquad, Can anyone check our site and let me know if there's anything super apparent that would cause Bing to treat us like a bum on the street? I recently made some structural changes which really helped with Google, but Bing didn't even budge. It's a lot harder to keep up with all the SEO initiatives I have in mind with it being a small start-up where I'm responsible for planning the entire Internet Marketing campaign, giving constant input on UX and site design, etc on top of 900 other things, so I figured it'd be a good time to use The Moz to help a brother out. Ideas? Domain: homeandgardendesignideas.com (yeah, I know it's a little long =P)

On Site Problem Caused Rankings To Drop?
I'm getting to the bottom of why my site dropped rankings on the 9th March. I noticed that in google there is a cached version of my site on 9th March at 8.37am which is when my rankings dissapeared. Presumably this is when google last crawled my site? I guess this means that google found something on the home page or on the site that it didn't like? I wonder if anyone can take a look and let me know if there's anything obvious. Could it be a duplicate content penalty as I have lots of categories pulling content from the same posts?

We have 5 postions on page 2 in a google search, but none on page 1\. How can we fix this?
For one of our most important key phrases we have 5 listings on page 2 but none on page 1. We are an ecommerce company, the key phrase we're trying for is a Top Level Category name for us, so the 5 links we have on googles second page for the key phrase (in order) are the appropriate top level category page, the sites home page and than three sub categories of that top level category. So while that all makes sense, can't we convince google to concentrate all that link power/juice into just the top level category page? Hopefully bumping it to first page rank? The 5 ranks are 11-15

My site has been dropping, not sure why!
My site has been dropping in the rankings, not sure - my metrics seem better than my competitors. Historically I have been a very stable #2 for my main term, but now it's down to 7! According to SEO Moz, my domain authority is 32, while my better performing competitors are are 26, 11, and 1! Have more links than they do. Trying to think it through, not sure what is happening. My home page bounces at a low 20%-ish, other Google Analytics are good. I have a company Facebook account, occasionally upload YouTube vids, do online press releases, etc. I do have to target several metros scattered across the state, while my competitors usually focus on one major metro. I do have some SEO Moz errors, which focus on dup content due to our web editor's naming system. An example would be domain.com/keyword-keyword-i-14 vs. domain/differnet keyword-different better keyword-i-14. 14 would be the actual page number. Our system lets me change the page title keywords, as I've added new links and pages over the years there are some dupes. The only major change is I've added a password protected section for sales rep materials. The hosting/web guru firm we use has assured me Google doesn't see pages behind the password portection. Not sure if Google is testing a new SERP formula. All social media or non-website results seem to have dropped out of search for my terms. Just local business sites like mine and some directory sites remain. Any advice or private consult would be greatly appreciated as I am a ... self taught 'OneManBand' for high tech marketing in our company. Thanks

Include the company/domain name in page titles and urls?
I know this isn't something that I would use site-wide but I'm wondering if it helps or hurts me to use my company name (also my domain name) in pages below the homepage. As an example, let's say I'm Home Depot. In the category pages off the homepage should I use Page names and urls like Home and Garden Supplies or Home and Garden Supplies at Home Depot? Or does it hurt me to reuse my company/domain name on multiple pages?
