How long does it take for link juice to pass
-
If I were to receive a follow link from a blogger with DA 40 PA 40 today, relevant anchor text linking to correct page, etc., how long do you consider it takes until maximum SEO effect is achieved? Thanks
-
Very information reply as always EGOL. Any rough estimates on how long for the full link's effects to be in place? 4 weeks?

Google doesn't reveal exactly how this works. However there are more than one benefit from a link.
First you have anchor text value. That would be noted and credited to the page.
Next you have PageRank. That would flow into a page but most of that PageRank (about 85% according to the original pagerank theory) would flow out through links in that page. Those receiving pages would pass PageRank on to the pages that they link to... and this process would continue over and over and over. Some of those pages downstream would link back to the original page that received the link and strength of that page would build by small amounts as the calculation for each linkage step is done. It is very unlikely that all of these calculations are done immediately.
Other variables might also count. Such as a "trust" value for the linking domain or a value for topical relevance.
Most of us have seen a page that received a nice link move up in the SERPs a few days later. But I highly doubt that all of the benefit is immediately received. There are too many calculations involved and Google might do some of them quickly but others might be done in batch jobs at some future time.

There is indeed so much misinformation out there. We still receive emails from SEO companies offering such wizrardry as keyword density and meta keyword techniques.. I agree that Matt Cutts and SEOmoz are great resources.

When I began to learn SEO, I read everything I could find. As a result, I learned a lot of bad information. Since that time, I have tried to rebuild my SEO knowledge.
For the most part I rely on Matt Cutt's videos, his blog, and SEOmoz. In particular, I only trust a few individuals who have clearly demonstrated themselves as industry professionals, have solid knowledge and are consciously trying to share their experiences. On the one hand, that could limit me from learning new things in some cases, but since my time is limited it protects me from the seemingly endless pit of bad SEO information.

Thats interesting and makes good sense. I had read elsewhere that there is some lag involved. I may be a little cynical though this misinformation could be proposed by SEOs to their clients...

It is my understanding that once Google or another SE has indexed your page and the linking page, the link would be immediately established and any juice would flow immediately and completely. I have never encountered any discussion of an aging process with regards to the time it takes for a link to achieve maximum effect.
I have seen discussions which discussed the theory that an older link had more value then a newer link, but those theories were discredited.
It may take a couple months for the Linkscape to see the link and your moz toolbars to update, but you should be able to see the link in GA.

Internal Links - How to Increase them, Categories not being considered as Internal Links
Hi All: As per my understanding, Internal Equity Passing Links is a metric defining PA. Now my website has around 65 internal links while few of my competitors have more than 180 links. I am unable to understand how to increase the internal links passing equity on my website, because I can see, more number of links on my website than my competitors but opensiteexplorer does not show that. I am really confused. Please help out if anyone knows something about this issue. Thanks in advance.

Link building
Hello everyone, I am building links for an e-commerce site and I need to increase the value of the links we get by placing them on specific pages in order to pass more juice to inner pages. Which part of the website should I point the links to? Because there is no content section on the site what I can do is either link to the homepage (not an option) or link to inner pages such as category/subcategory/product pages. My doubt is that it wouldn't look natural to link to products pages from a piece of content or from a site where people go with the intention not to buy but to get information. Any opinions on this?

Which is better - A) links from multiple IP addresses, or B) Links with more associated social signals?
If you had to choose: A) 100 links contained in posts on 100 PR2* blogs, all on separate IP addresses, where none of the posts had associated social signals, or B) 100 links contained in posts within a single PR2* blog (single IP address), where each of the posts had 20 associated social signals, Which would you choose to increase your SERP performance? *I chose PR2 so that PageRank would not be a factor in the decision.

Why are none of my incoming links showing up in SEOmoz or Google? How do I get good legit incoming links?
There are hundreds of sites that are linking to my website, but nobody is showing it. Google wont display any when using link:eugenecomputergeeks.com, and in webmaster tools it only shows 46 incoming links. SEOmoz shows only 3 links. This just isn't so. Why is this? I DESPERATELY need valid incoming links from well ranked websites , and having lots of trouble getting them. Nobody in town with a well ranked site seems to want to do a link exchange, and I've already made the mistake of buying my way into directories, which didn't do anything good for my rankings. Thanks!

301 to main page or deeper page for best 'link juice'.
I have two rafting websites. One ranks high for one set of keywords. The other ranks okay for a different set. I want to redirect the whole second site to the first to give the first more link juice and hopefully lift the first site even more in the rankings. Would it be better to link to a deeper page of the 1st site. I have a page that does well for some long tail keywords or would it be better to link to the main page. Or is it a bad idea over all.

Link Farming
Are link farms still bad? I still am not sure about this question. I know that some people still do link farms. If they are bad, wouldn't a directory be considered a link farm? For instance I can get my site on a .EDU, but it will just be a list of links. Is that bad?
