Hello, our domain authority dropped significantly overnight from 37 to 29. We have been building good links from high DA sites and producing regular, good quality content.

Anyone able to offer any ideas why?

    Thanks

I'm still a bit confused, as I've checked our DA elsewhere and get the same results. A 10 point drop, so I'm not really sure of the real numbers here.

Was my DA wrong before today or is Today and onwards going to be wonky until the index issue settles?

Can I just confirm, if you're DA has dropped after this update - are they referring to you as one of the low quality sites that Moz were crawling too frequently?

Or, are they saying because they were crawling these sites, using up crawl budget - they couldn't crawl all our pages effectively? I still don't understand why our authority would drop after this however?

          Thank you

I have also seen the same thing on a number of sites I'm monitoring.

Is this just an estimate from Moz? Or will it affect us in Google?

            Thank you

This will likely be due to the new index that was released, your domain authority is relative to the index and sites contained in the index. The new index was smaller, but is now fixed and will likely give you more accurate figures.

                Hi both,

Thanks for your responses. Think a few of our clients have also gone down, but not as drastically. Website speed is fine and everything seems normal, so not sure what to make of it.

Domain Authority is always worth measuring against competitors rather than just as a metric on its own. Do you know what happened to your competitors  DA overnight?

I've seen the same on some websites I'm tracking...

The only one who get the most links, and powerfull ones from press (due to RP and launch of new unique contents) lost 2 points.... Weird!

Does the DA takes into account the speed of the website? Because that's the only thing which changed (had a bug with the cache plugin)...

Page Speed or Site Speed which one does Google considered a ranking signal

I've read many threads online which proves that website speed is a ranking factor. There's a friend whose website scores 44 (slow metric score) on Google Pagespeed Insights. Despite that his website is slow, he outranks me on Google search results. It confuses me that I optimized my website for speed, but my competitor's slow site outperforms me. On Six9ja.com, I did amazing work by getting my target score which is 100 (fast metric score) on Google Pagespeed Insights. Coming to my Google search console tool, they have shown that some of my pages have average scores, while some have slow scores. Google search console tool proves me wrong that none of my pages are fast. Then where did the fast metrics went? Could it be because I added three Adsense Javascript code to all my blog posts? If so, that means that Adsense code is slowing website speed performance despite having an async tag. I tested my blog post speed and I understand that my page speed reduced by 48 due to the 3 Adsense javascript codes added to it. I got 62 (Average metric score). Now, my site speed is=100, then my page speed=62 Does this mean that Google considers page speed rather than site speed as a ranking factor? UTM tracking on a mapped subdomain, is it OK? (DA bonus question)

Hi, This is a technical question. OK, two technical questions. Please bear with me and I'll do my best to explain... We have a WordPress blog (business account, hosted by WordPress). We use it to blog and send traffic to our separate e-commerce site. We use UTM tracking to see which blog posts perform best. Our e-commerce site has a high domain authority. Our blog, not so much. In an effort to increase the domain authority of the blog we have mapped a subdomain of the e-commerce site to the Wordpress blog (still hosted by WordPress). Q1. Will this actually raise the blog's DA? If the blog does get a DA boost, I guess it'll be because Google now sees it as part of a powerful domain. But if it is technically part of the powerful domain... Q2. Should we remove the UTM parameters from the blog? I've read that you should never use UTM on internal links because it messes with your Google Analytics data. But I'm unsure if links on a mapped subdomain count as 'internal links'. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance. J

                      Vanity URL vs domain URL

Hi guys, Our CEO is having an interview with a known broadcaster on radio. During the interview he will mention a specific URL www.example.com/marketingcampaign that we want track on Google Analytics, therefore behaving like a vanity URL redirecting to the actual URL www.example.com/resources/primary-keyword-2018. Would this work the same way a vanity URL in terms of tracking or not such as following guideline here ? I am asking because vanity URLs are supposed to be completely different domain name that gets purchased and in our case it is the same domain name just with a different URI. thanks guys!

Why would page views per visitor suddenly increase?

My website traffic is growing by about 1% a week. It has a fairly stable page views/visitor of about 1.69. There's normally very little variability in this As we sell an industrial product. Today page views jumped by 50% and so did page views/visitor but visitor numbers stayed the same. I dont have a useful hypothesis to explain this. Analytics shows me that the traffic source, country of origin and pages viewed are pretty much the same as normal. There's been no substantive change to the site (today we changed the text in a widget to link to a new page - and no one visited it). It doesn't look like 1 person has gone through the whole site as that would skew the distribution of page views by country So why would user behavour suddenly change? I'll look at it for the rest of the week but in 7 years of looking after this website I haven't seen anything like this before.

Does traffic coming from Adwords increase overall Domain Authority or Page Rank?

If I'm setting up an Adwords campaign, will setting my homepage as the landing page boost my domain rank? and will the Page Rank of the landing page get boosted because of the high click rate coming from the Adwords campaign?

Time on page: What happens when I open many tabs?

Hello everyone, I was studying Analytics, and checked that the time on page is calculated by the diference of the time you entered the page and when you click to go to another one. But how the time is calculated when I open several links using new tabs in different moments? Does Google counts the last tab? Just a guess... Thanks!

Hey, How do shortened links show up in GA? So if I tweet about something and use bitly, does twitter get the referral? I am thinking not. I have never seen bitly show up as a referrer, but we gets lots of clicks from those links. Hmmmm. Anyone? E
