Does MerchantCircle.com have any SEO benefit?

We have created accounts for several of our clients at www.MerchantCircle.com directory and created blogs, coupons, etc for them but we did not get any single click or benefit from merchantcircle.com at all. We wasted a lot of time and also monthly membership fees.
I really would like to hear your experiences.
Did you have any positive results from merchantcircle.com ?
Did they lose their importance after Panda update?
Their MOZrank also shows ZERO and we are considering cancelling our accounts with them.

we tried MC for 5-6 clients and we spent a lot of time writing blogs, coupons etc. and spent a lot of time & money, but we did not get any single benefit from merchantcircle.com. it was totally a waste of time and money.

I have used, and still use, MC for a part of our Internet marketing plan for each of our clients. The MC listing does aide in boosting page 2 and page 3 rankings. I too have noticed a drastic decline in MC total aide in page 1 rankings...especially since they were sold! I think MC still helps for service-based listings when used as a City+ name application.

thanks for your comments. We have not received any single benefit using merchantcircle.com and cancelled all of our accounts. it was a waste of time and money.

It used to be that your merchant circle listing had a lot of potential to quickly rank organically and drive phone calls and leads directly for keyword +city name queries. There would rarely be any click-throughs to my client's websites though. I just checked a clients analytics from the past few years and they got grand total of 22 clicks since 2008 (22 out of 25,000+ referring sites clicks). However, I do know from phone tracking that we were doing at the time that they received at least 5-10 calls a month from their merchant circle listing. Things have changed though. Merchant Circle listings don't rank like they used to. You used to be able to rank them just by "connecting" with all the nearby businesses, but now you have to put some serious effort in. It's not just because of Panda, it's also because there simply isn't much real estate on the front page for a profile page listing anymore. IMHO, they're little more than a good citation these days. I think the time and money is better spent elsewhere.

I have no personal experience with them but did notice two things when I examined their site.
Their MOZrank also shows ZERO
For their home page I see their Domain Moz Rank 6.57 and Page Moz Rang 5.13. Perhaps your tool didn't load properly?
One thing that bothers me about their site is their BBB badge should be a clickable image. I checked the BBB site and they are accredited but they also show a lawsuit settled last year for $900k along with 150 complaints closed in the last 12 months.

Unsolved Are links from staff profile pages no longer good for SEO?
Hey there, We run a small site that lists lawyers and we have an opportunity to ask the lawyers to display a 'badge' on their own website's staff page, linked back to the page on our site that they are listed on. Initially I thought this would be good link building (i.e. the lawyer's own staff/profile pages on their website linking to our site where they are listed = a highly relevant link). I was less concerned about the authority of the law firm's sites, though these will range from sometimes low-ish to medium. I just assumed that Google would see the value in the lawyer wanting to link to our site where they are listed. However, our SEO has said that these days Google doesn't give much/any value to these types of links from individual staff pages. His advice was to try and get the badge added to one of their service pages (or their About page) which will be unlikely as the badge is person-specific. I thought I'd ask if this was everyone else's experience regarding Google not valuing links from individual staff pages? Thanks for you help 🙂

Are Sidebar Backlinks worth for SEO?
Hello! Let's use the following example: I have a blog (let's call it Blog A) and I find another blog in the same niche (this will be Blog B) that has higher DA and PA than mine. Will Google penalize me if the Blog B puts a link to my blog in their sidebar? Remember, the Blog A and Blog B are from the same niche. I ask this because Google says that links on sidebars appears in every page and in some pages the link may be useless. But if both blogs are from the same niche, there won't be pages where the links will be from different themes and with less relevance. So, is my thought correct: we can use sidebar links without caring about penalization ONLY if the blogs are from the same niche? Thanks in advance!

What are he benefits of getting 200+ links from DA 40+ non-relevant websites?
I have a client who has an opportunity to sponsor a prestigious national organisation. In return, they will get 200+ links from the websites of the organisation's members. Most of which are DA 40+.None of the linking sites have any relevance to my client's industry.1) How likely do you think it is that Google will view these as paid links?2) Do you feel that there is potential harm in gaining this many non-relevant links in a short time-frame?3) The client wants me to quantify the ranking benefits of gaining these links and calculate a potential ROI. If that's even possible, how would you go about that?Thanks in advance

The Benefit of Internal Backwards Links in Product Descriptions
We want to work out if it is beneficial to use links pointing back to categories (higher up in the structure) on our website product pages. For example, our Aria Dress by Jadore is found through the path: Home > Bridesmaid > Full Length Bridesmaids Dresses > Aria Dress In the product description for the Aria Dress, is it beneficial to include internal links pointing back to higher branches in the website structure .e.g. the Full Length Bridesmaids Dresses category page, the Bridesmaid category page, as well as linking back to the 'Jadore' page? Will doing this for every dress (linking back to category page), improve the SEO of these category pages? How many internal links is too many to include on any given product description? Is it more important to ensure a direct link to every single webpage so that they can be reached by Google, or to include links in both directions .i.e. from Home > Product Category > Product, as well as from Product > Product Category? Best Name for Business and Backlinks / SEO
Sorry if this is a basic question I should know the answer for. We have just acquired the .org for a moderately well searched keyword set. Our objective is to fight for rank specifically on this one set of two keywords. We want make sure our site is setup and business named optimally for this. Here is my question. What is the best business name for SEO and keyword rich backlinks, or anything else I'm not thinking of? KEYWORDS: Blue Widget DOMAIN: BlueWidget.org BUSINESS NAME OPTIONS: A) simply BlueWidget.org. We like this but do we lose some benefit of "Blue Widget" with a space on backlinks? **B) Blue Widget Foundation. Is this better because people will reference us by the keywords with a space "The Blue Widget Foundation", instead of "from the people at BLUEWIDGET.org"? ** Am I missing anything important here in the name? Is commenting on other peoples blogs / articles good for seo?
Hello everyone, Just a quick question, say if I find some websites which are relevant to my service and they have articles I can comment on and include my URL , will these help for SEO? The websites also have a good PR rating higher than 3 does this count towards anything? Would these links be classed 'follow' or 'nofollow' links - could something please explain what this means aswell. Thanks very much!
