Moz keeps saying that these websites (amongst others)...

    https://toolszap.com/
    https://www.findwallpaperhd.com/
    https://onlinecoursesschools.com/
    https://www.tonzo.com/

...are linking to one of my client sites at https://www.scamblermusic.com

The websites in question clearly aren't related and aren't linking to the site, and there's no reference to Scambler Music anywhere in the source code.

Why does Moz keep listing backlinks that simply don't appear to exist?

It's not uncommon for discrepancies to arise in backlink reports. Moz's algorithms may sometimes misinterpret or include unrelated websites. One possible explanation could be that Moz's crawler might have encountered redirects or dynamic content changes, leading to inaccuracies in backlink attribution. Additionally, discrepancies can occur due to differences in the timing of crawls between Moz and the actual state of your website. To address this issue, consider reaching out to Moz support for a more in-depth analysis or manual review of your backlink profile. They can provide specific insights and potential solutions to ensure the accuracy of your reported backlinks.

There could be several reasons why Moz is reporting backlinks that seem nonexistent or inaccurate. Here are a few possibilities and steps you can take to address the issue:

        Outdated or Delayed Data:

Moz's index may not be up-to-date, and it can take some time for changes in backlinks to be reflected in their data. Check the date of the last Moz index update.
        Crawling Issues:

Moz relies on web crawlers to discover and index pages. If the crawler encounters issues accessing certain websites, it may not accurately reflect the current state of backlinks. Ensure that the websites in question are accessible and indexable.
        Differences in Data Sources:

Moz might use different data sources compared to other tools or search engines. Discrepancies can arise due to variations in the databases and algorithms used for backlink analysis.
        False Positives:

Sometimes, Moz may identify URLs that look like backlinks but are not actual links to your site. This could be due to similarities in URL structures or other factors.
        To address this issue:

        Check the Websites Directly:
Visit the websites listed by Moz and inspect them manually. If you don't find any backlinks to your site, it could be a false positive or a delay in Moz's index update.

        Verify in Google Search Console:
Cross-reference Moz data with Google Search Console, as it provides a more direct view of the backlinks recognized by Google.

        Contact Moz Support:
If the issue persists and you are confident that these are not valid backlinks, contact Moz support. They can provide further insights, investigate the discrepancy, and update their records if necessary.

        thanks

@jcn-sbwd I hear you. sometimes it’s really hard to find the source! I was checking your links… The first two ones are not accessible. The third one is actually accessible, but my guess that the link already been removed - it seems that MOZ never remove the ones that no longer exist! I have a similar problem with solarpowerpanels.net.au. there are at least 30 high scored spam links that show on MOZ despite them been remove a long time ago!
Maybe try to run your domain on ahref.com - they are much better with backlinks discovery and also they report right away when links are actually been removed. You fourth link tonzo.com is actually got a live link but under a subdomain https://uk.tonzo.com/biz/scambler

                  link building whitehat

Hi, wondering if the SEO experts within the group could help us. We are looking to create a list, of quality backlinks, that could be built for all clients. I.e Medium.com links, just wondering, where various SEO consultants gain some of their links from. Obviously, quality links, need to be found via Moz Pro and Link Explorer, however, our question here is, where do SEO agencies, gain links from, for all clients?

Unsolved Can you explain the importance of backlinks in SEO, and how does Moz's link analysis tools help in understanding and improving a website's backlink profile?

                  moz link moz tools

Absolutely! Backlinks play a crucial role in SEO as they are like 'votes of confidence' from other websites. They indicate to search engines that your content is valuable and trustworthy. Moz's link analysis tools, such as 'Link Explorer,' provide insights into a website's backlink profile. This includes information about the number of backlinks, referring domains, spam score, and anchor text distribution.

How does indexing backlinks affect SEO and search engine rankings?

                  backlinks

Indexing backlinks plays a crucial role in the overall SEO strategy and search engine rankings. When search engines like Google crawl and index a website, they also consider the quality and relevance of the backlinks pointing to that site. Here's why indexing backlinks is important: Visibility in Search Results: Indexing ensures that search engines recognize and attribute value to the backlinks you have acquired. When indexed, these backlinks contribute to the overall link profile of your website and can positively impact your visibility in search results. Faster Indexation: By submitting your backlinks for indexing, you can speed up the process of search engines discovering and recognizing those links. This helps search engines recognize the relevance and authority of your website sooner. Enhanced Crawling and Ranking: Indexing allows search engines to crawl and evaluate the backlinks pointing to your site. These backlinks are considered as signals of trust and authority, which can influence your search engine rankings. Improved Domain Authority: When high-quality backlinks pointing to your site are indexed, they contribute to your website's Domain Authority (DA). A higher DA indicates a more authoritative and reputable website, which can positively impact your rankings and organic search visibility. Competitive Advantage: Indexing your backlinks gives you a competitive edge by ensuring that the value and authority of those links are properly recognized and taken into account by search engines. This can help you outrank competitors who may have unindexed or low-quality backlinks. It's important to note that not all backlinks may require manual indexing, as search engines can discover and index them naturally. However, for specific or newly acquired backlinks that may not be indexed quickly, manual submission or using indexing services can help ensure they are recognized by search engines and contribute to your overall SEO efforts.

Unsolved Moz Crawl seems to be stuck?

                  site crawl site crawl stuck

Hi all, It seems like moz has been stuck on crawling our site for a while now - I had a message of 'you will get a notification for when your site crawl is complete' for about 2 weeks now, and it doesn't seem to finish it? Any ideas why this happens and how to fix it? Thank you in advance.

Backlinks on Moz not on Google Search Console

                  google search console backlinks

Moz is showing thousands of backlinks to my site that are not showing up on Google Search Console - which is good because those links were created by some spammer in Pakistan somewhere. I haven't yet submitted a disavow report to Google of well over 10K links because the list keeps growing every day with new backlinks that have been rerouted to a 404 page. I have asked Google to clarify and they put my question on their forum for an answer, which I'm still waiting for - so I thought I'd try my luck here. My question... If Moz does not match Google Search Console, and backlinks are important to results, how valid is the ranking that Moz creates to let me know how I'm doing in this competition and if I'm improving or not. If the goal is to get Google to pay attention and I use Moz to help me figure out how to do this, how can I do that if the backlink information isn't the same - by literally over 10 000 backlinks created by some spammer doing odd things... They've included the url from their deleted profile on my site with 100s of other urls, including Moz.com and are posting them everywhere with their preferred anchor text. Moz ranking considers the thousands of spam backlinks I can't get rid of and Google ignores them or disavows them. So isn't the rankings, data, and graphs apples and bananas? How can I know what my site's strength really is and if I'm improving or not if the data doesn't match? Complete SEO Novice Shannon Peel

                  Should I disavow these links?

                  backlinks toxicbacklinks audit backlinkaudit disavow

Hi all, I have a ski website that I am currently performing a toxic backlink audit on. I have noted that a lot of the links being flagged as toxic/spammy by the tool I am using seem to be the same/similar sites with different URLs. The sites are vaguely related to skiing (relating to helicopter travel options for travelling to ski resorts) but it is concerning me that there are so many of them and they are being flagged as so toxic.
Do you think it is worth disavowing these? Or contacting the owner to ask them to remove the link? I have included an example of some of the links below. https://www.cannes-helicopters.co.uk/index.php?menuopen=21&showcontent=5
                  https://nice-helicopter.co.uk/index.php?menuopen=21&showcontent=5
