Hi Moz Community,
I'm encountering an issue with my health and safety training institute's website. We've been working diligently on building backlinks through various channels, including partnerships, content marketing, and social media. However, it seems that many of these backlinks aren't being recognized or displayed by any of the backlink tools we've used.
This is particularly concerning as our website's visibility and SEO performance are crucial for reaching individuals and organizations interested in our training programs. Has anyone experienced a similar issue with their website? Could there be a specific reason why these backlinks aren't being detected? Any guidance on how to resolve this would be highly appreciated.
Thanks for your assistance!
-
wondering if anyone has any advice or reason why the backlinks are not registering - for us it has been more than 2 years sine backlinks were created?

I've been monitoring the backlinks for my website and noticed that not all of them are showing up in my backlink analysis tools. Despite knowing that there are more backlinks pointing to my website, the reports and tools don't seem to reflect the complete picture. I'm looking for insights or explanations on why this might be happening and how I can ensure all backlinks are accurately tracked and displayed. Any advice or recommendations from the community would be greatly appreciated.

It takes time for the SE's to show all backlinks, and usually never will. There are so many factors involved. This article explains it better than I can, well its a Q &A. But basically what you are seeing is a sample of what they have: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/61927226/how-many-days-does-google-takes-to-index-backlinks?hl=en

Same issue here, I created some backlinks on a Article on Medium. even though this article in being crawled by Google crawler and it is ranking also but still all the backlinks i created here is not showing on my desired page. I don't know what's wrong here.

Hello I am also facing the same problem we have made 20 + backlinks for our plant based protein website But none i can see on SEM rush.
-
This is fairly common, I recommend being patient. Check again down the road.

When you set out to massively create back links for a website, the temptation to check for changes every few hours or days is high. Within a week you will most likely be tired and frustrated. And that is because it might take you over two weeks for your efforts to start showing results.
The other inherent problem with quick massive link creation is normally quality. If you create links wherever you can leave a comment you will end up with many low quality back links. It's best Google will ignore such links but worst case scenario could be an outright penalty.
SEO is a long term endeavor. While it's good to have targets, don't set them too high to frustrate your doings.
Cheers.

I also found the same issue, I am doing SEO for a taxi company in Saudi Arabia alharamaintours.com, I have built more than 10 backlinks on different sites but both Ubersuggest and Moz are showing only 3. I found the following answer on Quora maybe that is the reason:
"It can take time for Google to crawl and index new backlinks, so they may not appear immediately. The backlinks may not be from reputable sources, and Google may not consider them as valuable."
The Quora Answer link is:

I believe everyone is encountering the same problem. my website also having same issue Best Immigration consultancy in Kochi

In my experience, when it comes to assessing backlinks for both my website and competitors' sites, I personally favor Moz over Ubersuggest or SEMrush. I find that Moz consistently provides more accurate and reliable results.

PS - for example i have backlink from crunchbase.com but my website is not showing me thatHey there! As a fellow business owner, I can definitely understand your concerns regarding backlinks and their visibility on tools like Ubersuggest or SEMrush. It's important to note that not all backlinks may be captured by these tools immediately or may require some time to be indexed.
In your case, if you have obtained a backlink from a reputable website like Crunchbase, it's a positive sign for your website's authority and credibility. However, it may take some time for the backlink to be recognized and reflected in these tools.
To ensure you're on the right track, I would recommend continuing to focus on acquiring high-quality backlinks from relevant and authoritative sources. Consider implementing a diversified backlink strategy, including guest posting, social media promotion, and outreach to relevant industry websites.
Additionally, working with a professional digital marketing agency like Crescendus Marketing and Consultancy can be beneficial. They have expertise in optimizing backlinks and can help you navigate the complexities of SEO to further enhance your online presence.

I have been having the same issue and trying all kinds of approaches to solve this.
At the moment I can only share what has NOT been helpfull.Case:
I do lots of outreach to newspapers, blogs, partners and set up cooperations and links.
To one that would give me most benefits is one that I did towards a German newspaper concern. The did wrote an article and linked towards my boatcharter page. These are well established newspapers with the following DR:
DR 53 - DR 60- DR 43 - DR 42 - DR 58- DR 67 - DR 74Ahref , SmallSEO tools, semrush and Moz all show these links accept Google does not....
Tried solutions:
-
Pinging
I have tried pinging all these pages via ping o matic, prepost seo and pingler to see if google then would pick it up. After waiting 7 days nothing -
Crawling my website
As my website is google indexed and when I make a new blogpage I upload the link directlty in the google search console for fast indexing.
I made a thank you blog page containing links to the websites that contain my backlinks, So that when google crawls my page it should see these links and from there go check on those pages.
Waited 2 weeks and also did not work...
At the moment I am thinking out a new strategy as in total I still have about 15 real DR 50+ websites linking to my small website and it would be a considerable help for my DR.
Solution:
If anyone else has these issues, try to strategy that I did and leave your findings here. -

Hey @viveklazy
Being new to SEO can be hard, we have compiled a complete guide to backlinks with other tools you could use within the guide too
Check it out - bit.ly/3Vr57cS
-
@viveklazy to check for indexing of your link, 1 way is to use the site: operator on google search. Input in the page url and the anchor text in quotation marks. If the text has been indexed, then likely the link has as well.
-
I also have the same problem. What's more, I have my own 2 blogs, one is more than a year old while the other is a few months old. I don't see any backlinks to my store from them. And all those links are indexed and ranked.
-
@viveklazy
Like the others say here in the thread..That data you are looking at is not real time and is lagging so it might take awhile before you see it in the search console / Google Webmaster...
So you should not worry to much about it. -
It much depends on the quality of the backlinks. If the web pages ranking above you have way more backlinks, then this could be part of the reason you're not showing up in Google. To see the number of unique websites (referring domains) linking to your page, paste your URL into Site Explorer or our free backlink checker.
-
There can be slight differences between those backlinks that you can check in Moz, Ahrefs, SEMrush and others and those that actually are. The thing is that all those SEO software use their own crawler, like Google. And they have their own website database, like the index in Google.
To view a detailed list of your backlinks, go to Google Search Console -> Open "Links" in the bottom left corner -> Check External links.
But this can also not be the full list. Always use a couple of sources to get more detailed info. -
That's strange. Now since you have already used these tools, would recommend you to try Postifluence once. I am using it for backlinks and quite happy with the outcome. It builds 100% organic do follow links & it also helps me to upgrade my SEO strategy from time to time which is helping me to bring organic traffic to my website.
-
This doesn't mean that the search engine didn't see them. Some times the SEO tools like SEMRUSH and ahrefs see backlinks that Google doesn't see, and otherwise Google sees backlinks that these tools don't.
-
@viveklazy It takes time for the backlinks to be crawled and reflected. But if it's been a long time, you can perform few activities that will help you index your backlinks. You can follow this for more help - 11 Tips to Index Backlinks Faster On Google

Backlinks from The Sun, New Yor Post, etc...
Hello there, Some of my competitors have backlinks from very well-known newspaper websites like New York Post or The Sun. And it is really obvious that their backlinks are paid ones. On these news websites, they don't talk about ghost writing stuff or "partnership" for backlinks. They only write about banner advertising. So I was wondering how they can get a backlink from them.
Link Building | | Veptune
Do some writers sell those backlinks somewhere else, under the table? Are they in contact with SEO agencies who paid them and if this is the case, does their "manager" know it? or does the company directly have partnerships with SEO agencies? Basically, how to get a backlink from the NY Post or The Sun ? Thanks0 -
How to handle pre-existing backlinks on new site.
Hi - We built a new site on a URL that had previously been used. We are noticing a lot of spammy backlinks pointing to our current site and ending up on a 404 page. Any recommendations on how to handle this?

Should I disavow these links?
Hi all, I have a ski website that I am currently performing a toxic backlink audit on. I have noted that a lot of the links being flagged as toxic/spammy by the tool I am using seem to be the same/similar sites with different URLs. The sites are vaguely related to skiing (relating to helicopter travel options for travelling to ski resorts) but it is concerning me that there are so many of them and they are being flagged as so toxic.

Do you think it is worth disavowing these? Or contacting the owner to ask them to remove the link? I have included an example of some of the links below. https://www.cannes-helicopters.co.uk/index.php?menuopen=21&showcontent=5
https://nice-helicopter.co.uk/index.php?menuopen=21&showcontent=5
https://monaco-helicopter.co.uk/index.php?menuopen=21&showcontent=5 Slightly different site but same favicon icon:

Can Foreign Language Backlinks Be Valuable?
I've done a lot of searching on this subject, but I keep seeing conflicting answers. Are backlinks from foreign language websites valuable? For example, a travel website in English picks up a couple backlinks in Indonesian language (and other languages) from foreign sites that have a DA of 60-70 or higher. The topic is partially related, but the language is totally different. Would those links still be valuable for the English website's DA? Has this ever been answered conclusively? Thanks

PR1 and PR2 backlinks
We're doing some content marketing. I've heard that it is a good idea to target even PR1 and PR2 sites (small DA sites). I'm concerned about these sites disappearing after a few months, as we've found that losing a backlink can sting a bit and be worse than never having it. Though this isn't as big a deal any more. Anyways, can somebody say when a PR1/PR2 backlink would be appropriate to go after? Some of them would be easy and if it's appropriate I'd like to include them. So far they would only pass our standards if they are Above PR0 Look like a white hat, quality site from the outside Have a clean backlink profile Look like they're going to stick around Successful Social Media Accounts a plus What are you guys' criteria for including these sites? Do you gain value from them?

Creating Backlinks On Behalf of Client
I'm on my first SEO project with a law firm. I'm at the stage where I am doing competitive backlink research on other law firms that my client gave me. I saw a blog site called typepad. It has a high domain authority so I was going to recommend to my client that they set up an account and blog away! Since it's a law firm, I am not qualified to start blogging on behalf of my client and I know they are extremely busy so now I have to "ride" my client to get busy and start creating content. I feel like I want to do more for them on the blog side to keep things going but not having a law background, probably not doable. Question: Do most SEO's do the blogging for their clients, farm it out or keep pushing their clients to do it? I also want them to sign up with articlebase but the same thing is going to happen. I have to push them to write articles. I guess this is my job? -Bob

Press Release Sites for Backlinks
OK, I read a previous thread about whether people found press release sites useful (specifically I am considering a reputable pay for release service). I understand the knock on press releases in this digital age (namely that no one reads them and arguably never did . . . ), but I was interested in moving the discussion in a different direction . . . Do press releases services really help a sites performance based on increased backlinking? Is there a SEO benefit to PR services? My company is a local print company. I've done quite a bit of research on my local competitors, and specifically for a couple products we would like to dominate. The good news is that it looks like the hurdle would not be terribly high to really take over the web presence with a well planned and executed website/SEO campaign. My inclination is that for a relatively small company like mine (dealing with relatively small competitors) it WOULD benefit me to pay for the sheer number of backlinks a PR program would generate. The monthly cost is frankly about the same as the cost of this site, which OF COURSE I get value from (hey moderator, how about a couple extra MOZ points for that one!) Specifically, I am looking at this for myself, but feel free to expand the question to the broader topic.
