To check the age of a domain (i.e., how long it has been registered), you can use various online tools and domain lookup services. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it:
Using WHOIS Lookup:
WHOIS is a protocol that allows you to look up information about a domain, including its registration details. There are several websites that offer WHOIS lookup services. One popular option is https://whois.icann.org. Follow these steps:
Go to the WHOIS lookup website (e.g., https://whois.icann.org).
Enter the domain name you want to check in the search bar.
Click the "Lookup" or "Search" button.
The result will display various details about the domain, including the creation date or registration date.
Using Domain Age Checker Tools:
There are numerous domain age checker tools available online. These tools provide a quick and easy way to get the age of a domain. One such tool is https://www.whois.net. Here's how to use it:
Go to the domain age checker website (e.g., https://www.whois.net).
Enter the domain name in the search box.
Click on the "Search" or "Check" button.
The tool will provide you with information about the domain, including its age.
Using Internet Archive (Wayback Machine):
The Internet Archive's Wayback Machine (https://archive.org/web/) allows you to view past versions of websites and can sometimes help approximate the age of a domain. Here's what you can do:
Go to the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine website (https://archive.org/web/).
Enter the domain name in the search bar and press "Enter."
The Wayback Machine will display a calendar with available snapshots of the website. The earliest snapshot date can give you an idea of when the domain was first registered.
Please note that while these methods should give you a good estimate of the domain's age, there might be some variations due to different factors like domain transfers, changes in ownership, and privacy settings. Additionally, some domain registration information may be hidden or protected for privacy reasons.Great tips on checking domain age! I’d also add that some domain registrars provide this info directly through their dashboards, so if you have access, it’s worth checking there as well. Additionally, for those managing multiple domains, integrating WHOIS lookups into a script could automate the process, especially for regular monitoring. Have you found one method to be more reliable than others?

Review the Results: The tool will display the domain's registration date, giving you the domain's age in years, months, or days.
Cross-Verify (Optional): You can cross-check the results by using another domain age checker or visiting the WHOIS database directly.

Unsolved GMB Local SEO question
I am trying to diagnose how one particular competitor is smoking us in local rankings. I came across a text field “Service Details' within Google My Business Services. This allows me to put in a brief description of each service we offer. My thought is that this could be a good place for keywords. That said, the descriptions are not public facing (or to the best of my knowledge) so I am reluctant to do all the work for nothing. I am wondering if anyone has filled these out and if there were any noticeable results. Any insight is appreciated
