Websites on same c class IP address
-
If two websites are on the same c class IP address, what does it mean ?
Does two websites belong to the same company ?
-
But if you have 20 sites linking to you, and they're all from the same Class C IP address, and those are pretty much your ONLY links, that looks a bit fishy to the search engines. It's a signal to the search engines that "hey, this person can only get links from sites that have a high probability of the same person being in control of all of the sites".
That's why you'll see people talk about linkbuilding and wanting to do so from different Class C IP addresses.
-
Not necessarily. f you see different C blocks, you are usually talking about two different webhosts. So there is a chance that different sites from one owner are hosted in one C-block.
Even an IP-address is not always used for one company. You can have your own IP-address which leads to your website. But providers can also share an IP-address for different domains/ websites for different companies.
To find if website belong tot the same owner you need to check te registars database or tools like allwhois.com.

Thanks Olaf.
So, does it mean that sites hosted on same C class IP belong to one owner ?
-
A "C" Block address is based on your IP address.
For example 190.245.111.001 is a standard IP address. The c-blocks in this case are: AAA.BBB.CCC.001-254
So these are within the same C-class:
190.245.111.001
190.245.111.230And these are different C-Class IP's:
190.245.111.001
190.245.222.001Google may assume that sites hosted in differnet C-blocks are more likely to be from different people.

Blog separate from Website
One of my clients has a well established website, and a well established blog - each with its own domain. Is there any way to move the blog to his website domain without losing the SEO and links that he has built up over time?

Similar Websites, Same C Block: Can I Get a Penalty?
One of my website has been heavily hit by Google's entire zoo so I decided to phase it out while building a new one. Old website: www.thewebhostinghero.com
Technical SEO | | sbrault74
New website: www.webhostinghero.com Now the thing is that both websites are obviously similar since I kept the branding. They also both have content about the same topics. No content has been copied or spinned or whatever though. Everything's original on both websites. There were only 3 parts of both websites that were too similar in terms of functionalities so I "noindexed" it on the old website. Now it seems that Google doesn't want you to have multiple websites for the same business just for the sake of occupying more space in the search results. This can especially be detected by the websites' C block. I am not sure if this is myth or fact though. So do you think I'm in a problematic situation with this scenario? It's getting ridiculous all you have to watch for when building a website, I'm afraid to touch my keyboard in fear my websites will get penalized! Sorry for my english btw.0 -
Name Address Phone NAP For Dentists
I've been working with dentists for a about 6 months but there is something that I feel I need to nail down. When looking at directory listings and trying to standardize a dental practice NAP, many dentists have their company name in many different formats. Here is what I have seen so far. Advanced Dental Care of Chicago
Technical SEO | | Czubmeister
Advanced Dental Care of Chicago - Angela Davidson DDS
Advanced Dental Care of Chicago Drs Davidson, Richardson & Smith
Angela Davidson DDS
Davidson, Richardson & Smith - Advanced Dental Care of Chicago What happens here is that with dentistry, the doctors name is as important as the practice name. Many people hear about a doctor and Google by the doctors name. Others Google the practice name. It almost makes sense to put both the practice name and the doctors name in the Business name but as you can see, the practice name can get real long especially if they have 5 other doctors working there. On top of that, some doctors don't stick around the practice that long so you end up with business listings containing old dental partners. Trying to come to a consensus on the best way to list a dental practice.1 -

IP addresses indexed?
I've met with a potential client who has a site with 1,000's of very specific part #'s which don't show in the SERP's on Google. They definitely have the issue of dynamic URL's - but the URL for the part # searches is an IP address rather than their domain name - example: 188.888.888.888/partssearch.php?pnum='1233445' I've not seen the IP address used like this for an external website - is this acceptable for SEO purposes? Thanks, Mark

Website hacked
Hi I've been asked to help a colleague with his website. It seems to be hacked. He recently received an e-mail from Google saying his adwords account was suspended 'due to high probability his site may be hosting or distributing malicious software' I just checked his source and there seems to loads of weird on code on his pages, this would not have been but on by any members of the website owners. Please image attached when we try to access his website via google search I just contacted the hosting provider - does anyone have experience with this and how to prevent such hacking in the future. The site is build using HTML with no CMS. IjW19.jpg

What is the most effective way of indexing a localised website?
Hi all, I have a website, www.acrylicimage.com which provides products in three different currencies, $, £ and Euro. Currently a user can click on a flag to indicate which region they are in, or if the user has not manually selected the website looks at the users Locale setting and sets the region for them. The website also has a very simple content management system which provides ever so slightly different content depending on which region the user is in. The difference in content might literally be a few words per page, like contact details, measurements i.e. imperial to metric. I dont believe that GoogleBot, or any other bot for that matter, sets a Locale, and therefore it will only ever be indexing the content on our default region - the UK. So, my question really is if I need to be able to index different versions of content on the same page, is the best route to provide alternate urls i.e.: /en/about-us
Technical SEO | | dotcentric
/us/about-us
/eu/about-us The only potential downside I see to this is there are currently a couple of pages that do have exactly the same content regardless of whether you have selected the UK or USA regions - could this be considered content duplication? Thanks for your help. Al0
