Hi, Twitter says: Top Tweet: Tweet that received the highest number of impressions Top media Tweet: Tweet with photo, video, or Vine that received the highest number of impressions It's impressions that count and the only difference is whether or not media is attached. If my top tweet for a month has the most impressions but no media it is the top tweet. Another tweet that has media is then the top media tweet. That makes sense and I've seen it in my Twitter analytics. I'm confused when my top tweet is one with media but it is somehow not also showing as the top media tweet. Surely it should be? how can another tweet with media and a lower impressions count be the top media tweet when the top tweet is one with media and a higher impressions count. Thanks

Hi, I'm trying to filter staff visits from Analytics on a new view. IT have given me an IP address range and I have found the following advice: "For an IP address range, you’ll have to select Custom Filters, then choose Exclude, and IP Address from the dropdown list. Then, enter a regular expression for the IP Address" If this is correct, how do I write the IP address range 1xx.xxx.xxx.160 - 1xx.xxx.xxx.223  in RegEx? Thanks

Hi, We have been using two lots of GA code on our website - one was the old code and we added the new GA code under a different property too. Now that the old code is redundant do I: update the old code on property 1 to the Universal version and keep running the two properties (not sure this is the one I should do) remove the old code from property 1 and don't replace it with Universal version (but what happens to historical data?) remove the new code in property 2 and update the old code to the latest Universal version (but what happens to the historical data in property 2 or doesn't it matter?) Hi, What's the best way to deal with old news on a website. We don't want to take it off of the website but the news section will look ever bigger if we don't do something. Is there a good way of archiving? (The news is currently all under a 'news' tab in the top nav). Thanks

Hi, Our jobs section has recently been moved on to a subdomain https://jobs.ourwebsite.co.uk/home.html which is handled by a third party. Our analytics for the jobs section was lost as no code was added to the pages. Previously it was part of the main site. How do I track it as a subdomain so that it appears to be part of our main site? We have the old GA and universal GA code on the site Thanks

Hi all I am trying to see how many people visit the 'report a repair' pages of our website. It is on a separate domain to our main site. I have looked in our Google account for stats on it and now got confused. In our Google Analytics account, there is a property set up that says it is for spectrum-online (the domain I am after). However, it isn't collecting any data. It's admin info is: Tracking ID UA-7828548-8

http://www.westernchallenge.co.uk Western Challenge shouldn't exist now though. It was one of our old brand names and the site should be 301'd to the main www.spectrumhousing.co.uk site. I looked in this property at the top pages where people appeared to be landing. There are 9 of them, all with stats against them.Usually you can click the icon next to the URL and be taken to the live page. I however get taken to the Spectrum home page each time. All very odd. UA-7828548-3 is not the GA code used on our main site. I then tried clicking on a live spectrum-online page http://www.spectrum-online.co.uk/keyfax32/main.asp?co=KFRDROL_WCHA to see which Google UA number tracking code is being used but I can't see any GA code and it is a frame. Queries are:
Why is the Western Challenge property collecting any info?
Why is the spectrum-online property not collecting any info?
Is there any Analytics code on the Spectrum-online site and if so where? Apologies if I'm missing something obvious but your help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I'm having problems finding where to set up a new view in Analytics. I have seen https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1009714?hl=en but get lost at point 3 (In the View column, click the menu, then click Create new view.) In the menu there is no option that I can see. If I go into the one view that is set up, I also can't see anything 'View Settings' that would allow me to copy the view and then modify it. Am I missing something? Thanks

Hi, I need a bit of advice on marketing URL's. The destinations URL is http://www.website.com/by-development.php?area=Isle Of Wight&development=developmentname. If we wanted to use www.website.com/developmentname on literature to send people to the ugly URL above, what would we do? Would we need to rewrite the ugly URL to the neat and then 301 the ugly to the neat? Currently, the team are using a new domain of neatandrelevant.info and 301 redirecting it to ugly URL but there are lots of different developments they want to send people to so a new domain is bought for each development which seems a bit unnecessary. They point to different pages on the ugly URL website. Assuming canonical tag would not be needed then because the ugly URL page would be redirected. Also, as the website has ugly URL's anyway, would it not be best practice to use rewrites anyway so that the URL's read www.mywebsite.com/region/development? Would it confuse things to then have extra short marketing URL's missing out /region? Hope that makes sense....

Anyone got any suggestions for good intranet analytics? We can't use Google Analytics because the ga.js JavaScript will only work if the intranet can be accessed using a domain name that is fully qualified, but ours is http://intranet. Also, we don't want user data sent to a remote server via the ga.js script. Our intranet is built on SharePoint if that helps. Thanks

Hi, How do we 301 an https version of a domain to a page on another website when the security certificate has run out? We have 301 redirected the http version but IT stuck on how to do the expired https. Thanks

Hi, How important is it to submit a change of address in WMT? I say that because I am having problems doing it so wondered if it was worth the hassle in trying to fix it. I am getting the error: "We couldn't verify website.co.uk. To submit a change of address, website.co.uk must be verified using the same method as www.website.co.uk. Add website.co.uk to your account and verify ownership, then try again." I have looked on the web to try and find an answer and have come across 2 suggestions: You might have lost the verification with the redirect. If you used a metatag on the home page, the home page is now redirecting. If you had uploaded a verification text file, that file is probably now gone and redirecting as well. You probably need to re-verify the site. Either re-upload the text file and configure it not to redirect (may be difficult) or use the DNS server verification method. You need to verify the non www. version of the website because that's the way Google like it. Not sure why solution 2 would be necessary but it does seem to be what WMT are getting. Because the site already redirects, 1 would then come in to play. Is it worth persevering with because IT will be getting a long list of stuff to do from me as it is.... Thanks all

Hi, Our crawl report is showing duplicate content. some of the report I am clear about what to do but on others I am not. Some of the duplicate content arises with a 'theme=default' on the end of the URL. Is this version of a page necessary for people to see when they visit the site (like a theme=print page is) in which case I think we should use a canonical tag, or is it not necessary in which case we should use a 301? Hi, We have recently moved a few old websites to an existing one and redesigned the existing website too. The visits in Analytics have fallen though the roof in the last few days. I would expect the traffic to have gone up because visitors from the old websites should now be on the redesigned one. Not sure what the problem is entirely. GA code is on the site but not before the closing head where I asked for it to be put. It's just before closing body tag. Does it make a difference? (It's a CMS site). GA code must be working because visits are being recorded (tens rather than the expected hundreds). Redirects have not been done properly - not sure what IT have done there. Would the lack of proper redirects be the sole reason for the drop? I am still hassling for 301's to be sorted. Thanks all

Our site has quite a few 302 redirects that really ought to be 301's. Our IT department is really busy so the question is, given that the 302's have probably been in place for years, is it worth changing them to 301's now? Thanks

Hi, We are soon moving www.ourumbrellaorganisationwebsite.co.uk/oldsubsidiaryname/index.aspx AND www.differentolddomainname.co.uk to just www.ourumbrellaorganisationwebsite.co.uk (an existing site which will no longer have the old subsidiary name sub section). How do we do the 301 redirects on a Windows server? Helicon has been suggested but I don't know it. I know we need to 301 redirect 'old' pages to the equivalent new ones, but is it a problem to do all of the old pages (there are lots) or should we just just do a few? is there ever a downside to doing individual redirects for an entire old site? Also, once the 301 redirects are in place from the old domain, is it possible to let the old domain expire and if so, at what point? Thanks
