I have a small dilemma. We built a new site for a client, but the old site is still ranking/indexed and we can't seem to get rid of it.
We setup a 301 from the old site to the new one, as we have done many times before, but even though the old site is no longer live and the hosting package has been cancelled, the old site is still indexed. (The new site is at a completely different host.)
We never had access to the old site, so we weren't able to request URL removal through GSC.
Any guidance on how to get rid of the old site would be very appreciated.
BTW, it's been about 60 days since we took these steps.

What if you have a client with a LOT of ugly URLs that need to be cleaned up?
The plan is to create 301 redirects for every page that we change. But, let's say we're talking about 50+ product pages.
In your opinion, is it a problem to make that many changes at once?
Would you paste them out?
If so, how many at a time?
Also, is it a problem to have that many 301's on your website?

I'm getting the same redirect loop error today for one of my client's sites. We have not changed anything on the site recently and it worked perfectly in Moz Pro Campaign for several weeks, so what's happened? The same thing happened to another client of mine a week ago. Their site crawled perfectly in Moz for weeks, but all of a sudden Moz could not crawl it because of a redirect loop issue.

Because we can only crawl if we find unique pages, the redirect on your homepage is stopping us from crawling past that page. We recommend eliminating any unnecessary, circular or indefinite redirects on your homepage. Also, make sure your site is not mandating cookies, which can cause circular redirects and make crawling more difficult.
