HTML validator brings "Attribute name not allowed on element meta at this point" for all my meta tags. Yet, as I understand, it is essential to keep meta-description for SEO, for example. I read a couple of articles on how to fix that and one of them suggests considering HTML5 custom data attribute instead of name:

Last week I did some work on my website's inner pages linking and some of my highly ranking keywords fell down as a result. I guess I did something wrong, please help me figure out what exactly was wrong!
Here is the example of what I did. I put a link to the page that ranks for 'Thermador repair Brentwood' here: http://www.ifixappliancesla.com/blog/2016/09/12/appliance-repair-brentwood/
I put exactly same anchor text, 'Thermador repair Brentwood'.
For my blog posts, I use Yoast plugin, so when adding the link, I received the message "You are linking to another page with the focus word you want this page rank for. Consider changing that if you truly want this page to rank." While this one's ranking, 'Thermador repair Brentwood', didn't fall down, others did.
Could you please confirm if my understanding is right and I'd better not use the same keywords on two or more pages? If yes, what is the best practice for linking to the pages that are not in the main menu? Let's say, I decided to do blog posts for the areas my appliance repair company serves and to optimize those pages for respective keywords. So, I have pages like "Appliance Repair Service in Brentwood" (which is optimized for "appliance repair brentwood" keyword), "Appliance Repair Service in Beverly Hills" ("appliance repair beverly hills" keyword), etc. I thought that the best way to link to them is to put the same anchor texts: "appliance repair beverly hills", etc. But it looks like the best way would be to use the anchor texts like "Beverly Hills", "appliance servicemen in Beverly Hills". Please tell me if I am right? Any explanation, advise or referral would be much appreciated!

Thank you so much! I will definitely follow your advise. There is one thing that confuses me a little. My company has two locations: one in Pasadena, another one in Calabasas. I guess I can put those two locations for brand pages (Viking repair, Sub-Zero repair, etc) and for service pages (refrigerator repair, dishwasher repair).
However, we also service such upscale neigbouthoods as Marina Del rey, Bel Air, and Beverly Hills. I think if I mention my company's physical locations on those pages, it would be weird, wouldn't it? Yet I target "marina del rey appliance repair", "beverly hills appliance repair", and so on. Could you please let me know what you would do in a situation like this? Is there any chance that I can rank higher for those keywords without having physical local presence? Thank you!

Please help me figure out why this is happening and what goes wrong. This is the example of the poor ranked keyword - 'viking cooktop repair' with page optimization score of 100 (http://www.yourappliancerepairla.com/blog/viking-cooktop-repair/) Yet it's ranking is #51+.
I've got many like these: Page Optimization Score for 'kitchenaid oven repair' is 100 (http://www.yourappliancerepairla.com/blog/kitchenaid-oven-repair/) yet its ranking is #51+
And so on. According to Google Search Console, I have 266 of links to my site with variety of root domains. While building backlinks, I paid attention to relevancy and DA.What else do I have to do to get those keywords ranked higher? And why don't they rank well if the pages are 100% optimized, not keywords stuffed and I have quality backlinks? What am I missing out on? Please help!
I just searched Google for the phrase that is original to my website (yourappliancerepairla.com "LG actually has a very large and well respected home appliances business", and Google didn't bring my website at all. Does this mean that my website is penalized?

Once Moz tech support rep told me that in ranking results, only the best optimized page is shown for a particular keyword. I'm doing optimization for an appliance repair company and some time ago we created area pages (burbank-appliance-repair.html, etc.) for area based services (like burbank appliance repair, for example). I decided to promote area based services through our blog and created respective blog posts (post for Burbank Appliance repair, etc) I made sure to delete all previous area pages links but I didn't delete area pages from server. And they are still shown in Moz ranking results as pages for my high ranking keywords. Do you think that those pages are really better optimized and I should go back to them? My blog posts are also shown for some keywords in ranking results, but not for highly ranking area based services keywords...

Thank you very much for your advise! I figured out that it is going to be much of work going from page to page and set their canonicals:) Maybe updating my .htaccess will work out? I am wondering if that (please see below) would be the right thing to put in there?

Also, when I added the property (http://www.example.com) yesterday and set it as preferred domain, I was suggested to change the target country and submit a sitemap file for both http://example.com and http://www.example.com. I don't quite understand why do they want me to do that if the country and the sitemap are obviously the same?

That's what confuses me most of all - the website's backlink profile is getting better every single month, its DA is increasing, I've updated the content (made sure it's not keyword spammy) - yet traffic is close to zero. Website's spam score is 5/17: low MozTrust or MozScore, large site with few links (not true), small proportion of branded links (not true).
I have another website on the same topic that seemed to have some traffic. It has online request form that people used to fill in. After some work on on-page SEO traffic is gone. No one fills in the form. I guess I did too much (homepage's PA fell down from 20 to 1). While it's DA went up from 1 to 14. Now I'm revising the texts, titles, and meta descriptions. Do you think I have to get Google to visit my website after I'm done?

Some time ago I started to do SEO for a one-page website and didn't get any positive result: no traffic, no filled in online booking form (yet another, multiple page website offering the same service yielded in multiple filled-in "schedule an appointment" forms). I found out my one-page website was considered to be "keyword-spamming" and converted it to a multiple page one. Its domain authority went up, but it doesn't still bring any traffic. I am thinking maybe I have to let the search engines know that it has been updated so they stop penalizing it? Do you think it might help and if yes, what exactly I should do? Will be thankful very much for any suggestion!

Thanks for your reply! I'm just looking at Moz and Yext reports and seeing that one of the locations is considered to be "wrong" information. That's what confuses me a lot.
Is this better than updating my .htaccess file? Could you explain me please why the second one, with DA of 1 and that doesn't even exist (you cannot access it) is considered to be a duplicate?

I am a bit puzzled since the company I'm working with has recently opened a new location. The company's first location is listed in all local directories. Could you please advise me what to do to make 2 locations visible and not to mess up with keeping same NAP all over the web? Most directories do not simply have the option to add another location.
I had to open a brand new Google Business page for the second location (while using the same name brand). I suppose I am getting into trouble with this?

They have 5 follow links and 22 no-follow completely irrelevant links (like those ones you acquire by posting a blog comment with a link to your company website). Nothing really impressive.

Hi! I just got ranking results for the past week, and I am a little bit confused about what I saw. Two weeks ago, I optimized one of my website's page for the keyword "viking appliance repair in Los Angeles" (was #43 before), and one week later I found it on the second page of Google (ranked #21). I continued working on other pages thinking that all I need to do for "viking appliance repair in Los Angeles" to get it ranked even higher is to gain high quality inbound links. But for some reason updated ranking results I got today show this keyword fell down and now ranked #51. Could you please tell me why that might happened? What affected this keyword performance while I didn't do anything with it in between that much?

I would appreciate it very much if you share with me your thoughts on what domain name I'd better pick out in terms of productive SEO: sirocco-webdesign.com or sirocco-web-design.com? I know hyphens are not good, but second domain looks better, I think.
I guess, geolocation plays a role? I am in the part of Los Angeles where they operate. So, they probably optimized their content this way somehow? I still can not understand why is that their Yelp page that shows up while entering the query, not the website?

While doing my website crawl, I keep getting the message that I have tons of duplicated pages.

I think this company's Yelp page shows rating review stars in the organic search because it has really many positive reviews. Looks like they used black hat Yelp optimization though Yelp claims there is no way to do so.
