Thanks Eric, we did this all on the same domain, migrated from something that uses ".asp" to Wordpress. It has been about 18 months, hopefully you are right and this is not affecting rankings.

RE: Redirected Old Pages Still Indexed
Patrick, thanks for the response, there is only one redirect, from the old page to the new one (this was all done on the same domain) I will check the sitemap.

Redirected Old Pages Still Indexed
Hello, we migrated a domain onto a new Wordpress site over a year ago. We redirected (with plugin: simple 301 redirects) all the old urls (.asp) to the corresponding new wordpress urls (non-.asp). The old pages are still indexed by Google, even though when you click on them you are redirected to the new page.
Can someone tell me reasons they would still be indexed?
Do you think it is hurting my rankings?

HTML Site for Speed
I have a few small sites and landing pages on Wordpress that I want to load a lot quicker than they do. It occurred to me that if there is not a lot of content management necessary, I should simply make the static web pages straight html instead of trying all the modifications necessary to get some Wordpress sites and themes to load quicker. I have noticed the html sites I have load lighting fast on slow hosting service.
Is this a good idea, can anyone think of drawbacks to it? Security? Responsiveness? SEO?
And what about taking some company's sites with blog straight html so the home page loads quick, and then using Wordpress for the blog?

RE: Spike in Direct visits with Drop in Google Organic Visits
Over the past week, we have decided to convert the site to Wordpress so I am hoping the problem will resolve after that.

RE: Spike in Direct visits with Drop in Google Organic Visits
Thank you very much for the insight.

RE: Spike in Direct visits with Drop in Google Organic Visits
I think the better question should have been "Why were Google organic visits suddenly counted as direct visits instead?"

RE: Spike in Direct visits with Drop in Google Organic Visits
Thanks for the response Andy. I don't think anything had been changed, the site has been very static for the last few years. The date is January 25th. But total visits have not fluctuated other than seasonably. No Ads on the site.

Spike in Direct visits with Drop in Google Organic Visits
Does anyone have an explanation for why Google organic visits plummeted while direct visits rose the same amount. Total visits have been very normal.

Content Transfer for Penguin Induced Domain Switch
One of my customers has a mature site that performs very well in ranking and traffic for major keywords, prosun.com. A few years ago we started welproma.com because they were changing their name and branding. We built up welproma.com as an eventual replacement and ramped up to 30% of the Prosun.com traffic. Penguin hit a bit in 2012 but very bad May 24, 2013 and it keeps getting worse.
Now they are backing out of the name change, reverting back to prosun.com as the main website. Unfortunately the Welproma.com content is far better in quantity and quality so we would prefer not to waste it. Does anyone think it is a problem to take essentially the exact content from the newer, penalized site and move it to the older well performing site. We will use no links whatsoever between the two sites and take down the new one once we switch.

RE: Techniques for Finding Blogs that Accept Guest Blog Posts
Yes, I have had pretty good success with myblogguest.com. The best chances are those with the most recent postings in "looking for writers". I have about a 1 in 4 success rate in publishing when I feel I have strong content. Then look at all the blogs in the system database, they have a much lower response rate much less approval rate but I have find some gems.
I would imagine anyone publishing on over 300 sites would know this, but I have found some good contacts in the Cathy Stucker email, sign up at http://www.bloggerlinkup.com/. As a caution, I found when you offer the post and someone inquires about it, they have stolen it without linking. Check their site before you give out your content. If a site has posted needing content, always has been safe.
