Hey Mozzers! I'm working with a client who has 2 websites (different URLs completely), which one is for all parts and the other is for accessories only. They have multiple brick and mortar locations throughout the US and have done a nice job creating Google My Business pages for each and all verified. Their question is will it benefit them to create and verify another GMB page with same address, but place in "Suite B", a new phone number and apply the other URLs for the accessories site. The business name would also be different, but similar meaning Business 1 = ABC where as Business 2 = ABC Accessories. Their goal would be to try to have both rank or display to improve their local SEO. In theory it sounds like it will work given NAP would be satisfied within the GMB, but wanted to get the Moz community thoughts on this first before moving forward. Look forward to the replies. I have a new client who bought a dental practice from another dentist. The old dentist has a website www.olddentistsite.com (not a real domain, just an example) and the new dentist wants there to be a message on the old dentists website Home page stating how the practice was bought. My idea just came up... most would do a message on that domain. However, would you recommend I actually create a new page in the new dentists website which the old website domain redirects to ie: www.olddentistsite.com [redirects to >] www.newdentistsite.com/olddentistsite/ and then on this page we display a nice message about the acquisition, scheduling new patients, new logo, meet the new Dr, a video, better office hours, etc... Is this something the visitors will enjoy or get a good feeling from? Let me know your thoughts on which option is best to implement. Looking for a few quick replies!! Hi Mozzers! I have a lot of knowledge in local search, G+ page setup/optimization, etc, etc... However, I'm about to begin a business based around "home services". The brand will be ABC Home Services as the umbrella. Then under it will be the individual services like "ABC Carpet Cleaning" "ABC Roofing", etc... Each service will have it's own website for optimization purposes and local search authority building as well as the services will be developed over the course of a couple years ie: carpet cleaning would go up 1st, then the next service and so on... I have purchased all of the domains I want for the services to focus on. What do you recommend I do in terms of setting up Gmail accounts/G+ accounts? Individual service related Gmail accounts and have a main "ABC Home Services" Google account and then add in the service G+ pages over time? I'm open to any questions, but trying to make this the most efficient for me and my team and also the best if can be for local optimization goals and criteria. Thank you! - Patrick

I'm getting ready to take on a new client for SEO, but she is having a hard time understanding I'd like to rank her for "Her" and her new book, rather than keywords for her ambiguous keywords which show very little to no search volume from Keyword Planner data. Her website and domain name are only 4 months old Her book launches sometime in December (most likely January 2016) Her services (she's a consultant) provide little keyword volume She is persuaded she needs to rank for her service keywords I feel strongly we need to get her name, her method/approach and her book optimized She is seemingly difficult to work with, but once I build trust in SEO for her, so will be a great, long client Her consulting services are based on Change and Transition for wealthy individuals going through career change, divorce, pay increase, pay decrease, depression, children, etc... targeting Executives, C-Level Execs In this situation, what would you all do? How would this website or person even be optimized? Blog articles? Press releases? Guest blogging? Video blogs? Podcasts? It's a tricky one and hoping the Moz community can lend some ideas as this type of SEO would be new for me, yet I'm up for the challenge! Hi Moz Community, I have about 10 sites, static HTML sites and WordPress sites, which ALL stopped tracking Google Analytics on August 2nd. They go to a flat-line! Dead! No data! Has anyone else experienced this either currently or before? I have confirmed all code is correct as it's been tracking these sites for years. One site gets 5,000+ visits a month and they are sitting at only 1,500 now and will be a fun conversation to have with the client. If all code is correct, what should I do? How do I overcome this without having to re-create another account/tracking ID? Never dealt with something like this before and there is not much on the web or in other forums. Would appreciate any help or advice or tips! - Patrick

We are working on a new web redesign now and keeping in WordPress. A couple facts for your info... We have read a lot about it, but wanted to get some quick tips we need to take into account from your points of view. 1. March 2010 domain age
2. Ranks very well locally for our targeted keywords around web design, WordPress, SEO, social media, blog writing, web maintenance
3. Not many of our competitors, especially the SEO competitors, have moved to HTTPS
4. Site is hosted at WP Engine
5. Going to be purchasing a Domain Validated SSL... Is there any advantage to an Extended Validated SSL in Google's eye/mind?
6. Should we expect rank decrease or increase?
7. Anything else we should expect or prepare for from your experiences? Thank you!

Hey Mozzers,
I received a call on Friday from a 6 attorney law office who have been my client for a long time. They have an established brand/domain in their market which isn't very big, but has a lot of competition. 2 of the attorneys are leaving to start their own firm and they want to remove a letter from their name abbreviation, thus their domain name as well. So, the other partners want to change the domain to reflect this. They want to buy a EMD [city]lawyers.com for about $1,600 along with some others to protect their new brand and name. I have a good idea as to what I need to do, BUT would love to hear advice from the community for this type of drastic change. 301 redirects? New Google Analytics code or same just different profile? Webmasters verifications? Content from old site? Old domain forwarding or keep active for a little bit? Is not the time to get them an SSL? Also, what should I prepare them for in terms of website traffic expectations and Google authority drops or remains the same? I know their Moz DA/PA will drop to 1/1, but anything else to look out for? Thank you in advance!

We are working with a client and their marketing consultant who set up a Local Listing service to help local citations, Yahoo, Google+, etc, etc... We have their G+ business page and it is verified, however, as we are new to helping them out, we don't have access to the page to make edits. Here's the catch, neither does the client, or the consultant or the listing company/people. Question: How can we go about claiming this as "our" page in order to help the client out, get it edited/optimized and then keep record of it so this doesn't happen again? PS - Typically, there is an option for a business page to "Is this your page?" or "Manage this page?" at the bottom, but I don't see one of those buttons. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Hey Moz Community, We received an interesting email this morning from a client's marketing manager asking if we knew about or have ever used "Hadoop software" because "[Business owner name] says it’s supposed to help us see how people use our website and more." I've never heard of this software and upon looking around on the web, it says it can do a lot, but my client is a small law firm who average 800-1,000 visitors per month, mainly from their 2 local office cities/markets. Anyone have any thoughts on this or ever use this software? Thanks in advance. Patrick

I'm in the process of developing a new product and brand name and would like to create all the social media accounts (FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc), including G+ and want it to have it's own Gmail ID like ABCXYZ@gmail.com, so I can set up all accounts using this Gmail ID and if needed down the road, have someone else help manage the accounts so they have that login and my my main Gmail login. My question is, does Google frown upon setting up new Gmail IDs under the same name "Patrick McCoy" as I have my name tied to my personal Gmail account and my company's Gmail account "whiteboardcreations@gmail" both with G+ pages and URLs of /+PatrickMcCoy1 and /+PatrickMcCoy2 respectively. I'd like to have Authorship associated with the new product website and also want the new product to have it's own G+ Business Page to post updates, info, etc., which is why I'm getting a little confused on how I'd do it the right way, What would you do or does it really matter... can my new Gmail account of ABCXYZ@gmail just be /+PatrickMcCoy3 which is associated to my new product/brand name? We have a potential new client seeking to rank organically for a company name and brand product who have left the market (still in business as they are a massive medical company, but just moved away from selling this one specific product) and my new client has since picked up their slack and slowly a couple others have entered the market over the past 5 years with different products. My client's product is a direct replacement/alternative to the other product, actually, it's the same, just had to be renamed/rebranded. They are wondering how to get their website ranked for that company and branded product name to show in Google SERPs organically without being slapped with a cease and desist order. We know they can do it for PPC, but how for organic results since we need the content within the site pages or tags. Any suggestions or real life experiences would be greatly appreciated! We're in the process of taking over a WordPress website within the next week for a 3 location medical practice. These are in 3 different cities. 1 location is in a pretty competitive market, while the other 2 are not. The current site isn't bad for design and navigation and they don't have the budget for a full-redesign. Structurally, it is sound. It lacks a lot of content though and a blog. It is not responsive, should we convert to make it responsive? At first glance you can't tell they have 3 locations and their content for each location and services offered is pretty weak. What other suggestions do any of you have for getting the main site to rank for all 3 locations? I know it'll take some time since they are no where to be found now, but just looking for any other tips you may all have. Thanks!! - Patrick

We just got our report from OSE and a week ago we had over 80 LRD's with DA34/PA44 and now we see only 27 LRD's DA32/PA34? Why such a significant drop in our LRD's which I'm sure has affected everything else in the software. We checked Google Webmasters and don't see a drop in our linking URLs. We see it fluctuate all the time, but nothing like this. I'm not so much concerned with DA/PA at the moment as I know that dropped from lack of data the system can read, but why did over 60% of our LRDs disappear overnight? Anyone else seeing this happen to them? Our URL is whiteboardcreations.com

Curious to know if anyone else noticed that Moz stopped showing most of the active community users http://moz.com/community/users. It was nice to see who's who from visiting profiles and try to connect with them via email or see their websites, etc. There used to be pagination at the bottom. Why did they stop?

We just found a backlink for our site from a brand spanking new, week-old directory site. With the (not provided) numbers growing to the inevitable 100%, can we make any assumptions about what the (not provided) visits includes without sifting through 5 software programs, Moz analytics, Google Analytics, Webmasters Tool, etc? It seems like a TON of time and work to "try" and get (not provided) data/keywords from all the articles and heads of the industries I've been reading. That amount of time and work are just not viable for a smaller SEO or single SEO working with smaller budgets, so my question, can we make an estimated guess based on visits for local businesses that most are branded keywords bringing traffic? Or am I way off here? Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts or how you handle (not provided) with your clients.

I've been looking at large image packages through iStock, Getty, Fotolia and 123RF, but before spending a bunch of money, I wanted to get some of your feedback on Creative Commons images. Should be worried that something found on Google Images > Search Tools > Usage Rights section can be used without issue or legal threats from the big image companies so long as they are appropriately referenced? AND will using these types of images and linking to the sources have any affect on SEO efforts or make the blog/website look spammy in Google's eyes because we need to link to the source? How are you using Creative Commons images and is there anything I should be aware of in the process of searching, saving, using, referencing, etc? Patrick

Are site owners relinquished from plagiarism when copying word for word from another blog almost daily, as long as they reference the source? This blog www.nethority.com/blog has copied everything from the Moz blog, however, references the source at the bottom. Can this hurt a website/blog as duplicate content? I'm interested to know what everyone's take is on this. - Patrick

When we do a search in Google for our brand name like this "google+ whiteboard creations" we see 2 different G+ pages: 1) https://plus.google.com/b/104564843813332206907/ and 2) https://plus.google.com/+WhiteboardCreations/ #2 is our real one which we are trying to promote, grow, etc, etc. However, I'm not sure where the other one came from. Did Google create it? We have the option to "Delete Page" in the settings, but unsure if it will delete the real page we actively manage. Has anyone else had this issue with multiple pages? We just signed on a new client and are gaining access to their Analytics, GWT, etc... In GWT, we quickly went to "Manual Actions" as the client stated they've been slipping in rankings the past couple months from 1 to 4 to 8 and have been staying at around 7/8 for 15 of their main keywords. Without getting into the specifics of their keyword rankings, I'm curious to know when they may have received the Partial Matches Manual Action from Google. I checked Messages and saw nothing about the Manual Actions update. Can anyone lend some advice as we are most likely going to have to put together a Disavow text file and begin sending requests to take down links. Thank you in advance. I'm curious to know why Moz, YouTube, G+ and some other links are not showing the OSE link profile as NOFOLLOW or DOFOLLOW for our website whiteboardcreations.com? When doing analysis, we see a lot of companies YouTube pages with their NF link and G+ page links and even see a lot of the Moz community members with their Profile pages showing the NF link or the DF links. I'm confused as to why OSE is not picking up any of our links from those respective sites. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance. - Patrick

A few weeks ago I started seeing instances of OSE not showing all the information when it was showing I was logged in while using Google Chrome. It would work, then not work and kept showing me the button to sign up for Moz Analytics even though I was logged in. I'm a Pro Member, which is confusing. Then I noticed that while logged in, I would be logged out somehow when trying to contribute to the Q&A's and it would bounce me back to the Moz Home page or show me the white Login button in the upper right. Again, in Chrome only. I was told by support to clean my cookies/cache and that works for maybe a few hours, but then would resort back to logging me out. It has become very annoying, and now can only work logged in from FireFox. Not a huge issue, but everything else I do all day is in Chrome. Is anyone else having this same issues? I only ask because they pop up everywhere and took a look at their website and it says they do everything under the sun, have PR6, Moz DA 71, Moz Home PA 76. What methods are best to use for SEO campaigns working with 1 website for a company which has 2, 3, 4, or more locations in order to get keywords for their services to rank well... in all their location cities? I feel we know the answer could be any one of the below notes, however, it's always nice to learn more about what all you other SEO's are doing or have done which saw success. We have a running campaign for a client who has rankings show for Yahoo and Bing within the SEOmoz Ranking Reports, however, Google shows no data or rankings. When we manually check from different IP's and computers and browsers, we see our client ranking very well in Google and for keywords which we have inside their campaign for SEOmoz. Can anyone provide insight into this? Have you experienced this also? Our reports would look terrible going to the client if sent from SEOmoz directly as Google shows 0 (Not in Top 50) for all keywords, so we have to get rankings from other sources or manually to show our client. We have a campaign running for a client in SEOmoz and only 1 page has been crawled per SEOmoz' data. There are many pages in the site and a new blog with more and more articles posted each month, yet Moz is not crawling anything, aside from maybe the Home page. The odd thing is, Moz is reporting more data on all the other inner pages though for errors, duplicate content, etc... What should we do so all the pages get crawled by Moz? I don't want to delete and start over as we followed all the steps properly when setting up. Thank you for any tips here.
