      I notice for certain site (ex: mint.com) that when I search, the top result has a very detailed view with options to click to different subsections of the site.

      However for my site, even though we're consistently the top result for our branded terms, the result is still only a single line item.

      How do I adjust this?

        is the "google sandbox" something we still need to worry about as well?  I think I recall google penalizing new domains for a while before allowing them to show up more frequently in search results?  Would that also affect these?

          It also depends who else has relevant content for your branded term. If there are other remotely related pages from other domains, then I find that it is more difficult to get site links. But if you are the only one with say "eggplant laser cutting" then it is more likely for you to get site links.

            We aren't ranking particularly high on a lot of terms yet (relatively new domain), so I'm only looking at extremely branded terms.  Sounds like we just need to continue general SEO improvement and then eventually get rewarded with a 6 pack.  Thanks again!

              If you search for "mail delivery" you will notice US Postal Service as the #1 and 2 results, but they do not have site links. If you search for "electronics store" you will notice Fry's, Circuit City and Amazon.com as the top 3 results and they do not show site links there either.

              On the one hand your backlinks seem to strongly influence the ability to have site links. On the other hand, the sites mentioned above clearly have very strong link profiles. The query also has a strong effect as well. Notice if you search for "US Postal Service" the first result is listed with Site Links. This demonstrates the same page may or may not offer site links based on the search query.

                Thanks!  Just seems odd that our branded term (which has consistently ranked #1) doesn't show additional site information.  From this article, it might be our "alt"  and "anchor" txts on the sub pages...  Not quite sure what that means, but maybe our developer will!

                  You are referring to Sitelinks.

                  Sitelinks are provided based on keyword searches where a given site's structure and content is highly relevant to where Google decides to provide additional exposure for the site. There is not any singular adjustment you can make to gain sitelinks. It is outside of your control.

                    75% Overnight Drop in Organic Search Traffic

                    On April 10th my organic search clicks dropped 75% overnight. I have never seen anything like it. What Google algorithm change could have caused this? I have no manual actions and my indexed page count is about the same. I have noticed that several queries that I was number one for including my brand have dropped by anywhere from two to ten spots. The brand dropping out of the first spot is what really gets me. There is nothing similar to it at all. My speed score is moderate, so I don't think that is it. My site was down most of the day on the 9th or 10th, but that has never caused a drop in search clicks and the next day they were about the same. I noticed that the CDC now occupies the number one spot for my brand. Even though the exact brand name is nowhere in the text of the CDC page. I think this might be due to Google trying to help official health organizations do better due to COVID19, but the queries I have dropped on have nothing to do with Coronavirus. Also, none of my other sites have seen this type of problem. Only the health site seems affected. I recently did a press release campaign and my link counts are up, so I don't that is it either. The brand page is https://stdcarriers.com and an example of an effected query is Celebrities with STDs.

                    Site appearing and disappearing from google serps.

                    Hi, My website  is normally on page 2-3 on google consistently. Over the past month it has been appearing and then completely disappearing from the serps. One day it will be on page 2, then the next day completely missing from the serps. When i check the index it seems to be indexed correctly when doing site:mysite.com. I don't understand why this keeps happening, any experience with this issue? It doesn't seem to be a google dance as far as I can tell. When my other sites dance they typically just go up or down a few ranks for a couple weeks until they stabilize. Not completely fall off the search engine.

                    Does Google ignores page title suffix?

                    Hi all, It's a common practice giving the "brand name" or "brand name & primary keyword" as suffix on EVERY page title. Well then it's just we are giving "primary keyword" across all pages and we expect "homepage" to rank better for that "primary keyword". Still Google ranks the pages accordingly? How Google handles it? The default suffix with primary keyword across all pages will be ignored or devalued by Google for ranking certain pages? Or by the ranking of website improves for "primary keyword" just because it has been added to all page titles?

                    Using Google to find a discontinued product.

                    Hi Guys. I mostly use this forum for business questions, but now it's a personal one! I'm trying to find a supplier that might still have discontinued product.  It's the Behritone C5A speaker monitor. All my searches bring up a plethora of pages that appear to sell the product... but they have no stock. (Wouldn't removing these pages make for a better internet?)  No 2nd hand ones on eBay 😞 Do you have any suggestion about how I can get more relevant results... i.e find supplier that might still have stock?  Any tips or trick I may be able to use to help me with this?                     Deindexed from Google images Sep17th

                    We have a travel website that has been ranked in Google for 12-14years. The site produces original images with branding on them and have been for years ranking well. There's been no site changes. We have a Moz spamscore 1/17 and Domain Authority 59. Sep 17th all our images just disappeared from Google Image Search. Even searching for our domain with keyword photo results in nothing. I've checked our Search console and no email from Google and I see no postings on Moz and others relating to search algo changes with Images. I'm at a loss here.. does anyone have some advice?

                    Can I use schema markup for my Trustpilot results?

                    Hi we have excellent Trustpilot reviews & want to know if we can include these in schema markup in order for the results to show in SERPs? The Trustpilot results show in PPC but not SERPs. A competitor looks to have no Trustpilot or other independent reviews but is showing 5 stars in SERPs, i also cant find any customer reviews on their site, it looks to be just coding that is driving the SERPs view? Their site is goldencharter.co.uk Any thoughts much appreciated Thanks Ash

                    Google is forcing a 301 by truncating our URLs

                    Just recently we noticed that google has indexed truncated urls for many of our pages that get 301'd to the correct page. For example, we have:
                    http://www.eventective.com/USA/Massachusetts/Bedford/107/Doubletree-Hotel-Boston-Bedford-Glen.html as the url linked everywhere and that's the only version of that page that we use. Google somehow figured out that it would still go to the right place via 301 if they removed the html filename from the end, so they indexed just: http://www.eventective.com/USA/Massachusetts/Bedford/107/ The 301 is not new. It used to 404, but (probably 5 years ago) we saw a few links come in with the html file missing on similar urls so we decided to 301 them instead thinking it would be helpful.  We've preferred the longer version because it has the name in it and users that pay attention to the url can feel more confident they are going to the right place. We've always used the full (longer) url and google used to index them all that way, but just recently we noticed about 1/2 of our urls have been converted to the shorter version in the SERPs.  These shortened urls take the user to the right page via 301, so it isn't a case of the user landing in the wrong place, but over 100,000 301s may not be so good. You can look at: site:www.eventective.com/usa/massachusetts/bedford/ and you'll noticed all of the urls to businesses at the top of the listings go to the truncated version, but toward the bottom they have the full url. Can you explain to me why google would index a page that is 301'd to the right page and has been for years? I have a lot of thoughts on why they would do this and even more ideas on how we could build our urls better, but I'd really like to hear from some people that aren't quite as close to it as I am. One small detail that shouldn't affect this, but I'll mention it anyway, is that we have a mobile site with the same url pattern. http://m.eventective.com/USA/Massachusetts/Bedford/107/Doubletree-Hotel-Boston-Bedford-Glen.html We did not have the proper 301 in place on the m. site until the end of last week.  I'm pretty sure it will be asked, so I'll also mention we have the rel=alternate/canonical set up between the www and m sites. I'm also interested in any thoughts on how this may affect rankings since we seem to have been hit by something toward the end of last week.  Don't hesitate to mention anything else you see that may have triggered whatever may have hit us.                     Troubleshooting Decline of Branded Keyword Searches

                    Hi, Over the past year, I have seen a huge change in the distribution of our organic keyword traffic. I'm trying to research why our branded keywords have gone down.  Google analytics only shows me impressions for the past three months. Does anyone have ideas on how to explain this change in traffic?
