Duplicate external links?
-
I have been guest posting at a variety of reputable blogs in my niche. I generally write once or twice a month and have a bio link with a link to my blog. I'm wondering if multiple links from the same domain (but different pages) helps, or if there are some diminishing returns here. Should I only be writing one post for them?
Of course, there are other non-SEO benefits too, because these are reputable sites. But I'm wondering how this helps my SEO?
Thanks in advance!

I think you are taking my comments out of context. I said "You need to look at it from the context of your overall links". This is about having a natural link profile. This can be variety of link sources, link quality profile, Moz rank variation of your link sources etc. If the 120 links you got from the great blog posts at SEOmoz only contributes to a small percentage of your total links then you should be alright. If it however contributes to +80% of all your links then that is a warning sign.

Hi Jodi,
Keep up the good work. If you are creating useful content in niche related blogs, that is educating or entertaining to the users you are doing exactly what search engines want. Adding value.
Of course, there are other non-SEO benefits too, because these are reputable sites. But I'm wondering how this helps my SEO?
If you are creating great articles that people are sharing and interacting with, the article will get linked to naturally and gain credibility. Just make sure your are linking your guest blog posts to your site via anchor text in a natural manner. 50% URL or Brand name, 25% long tail anchor text, 25% the Exact keywords you want to rank for.
Hope this helps.

I don't think a couple of links from the same domain is going to hurt you. If it becomes too many then it loses it natural value.
Sorry I have to disagree. If I am a contributing author of SEOmoz.org and I am getting 120 links for contributing 120 great posts in its blog, Google is not going to penalize me for sure. So, as long as the articles are great, and you are doing guest posts for traffic, you are safe. Rather I would go against the idea of guest posting just for the sake of link building.

I don't think a couple of links from the same domain is going to hurt you. If it becomes too many then it loses it natural value. You need to look at it from the context of your overall links. If you have 200 links and 100 of them is coming from about 5 -10 domains then you have a problem. Link source diversity and anchor text variation is important

Different WP Taxonomies seen as duplicate content
Hey guys, We're seeing Moz report "duplicate" content on pages like: mysite.com/interesting-category/ and mysite.com/interesting-tag. Why exactly is this, and is there something that we should do about this? Obviously some of the same posts will intersect on pages like category, tag, author pages. Thanks

Franchise-Like Duplicate Sites
I know that ideally businesses that operate as franchises should have 1 site with separate location pages. However, I have a slightly different issue. Each location is owned by a different parent company, and named accordingly. For example, there is "Location by XYZ Company" and "Location by ABC Company." In addition, each location, while carrying similar products, does not carry the same exact products and brands. So my question is how would you go about writing the content for each of these sites, keeping the same tone but avoiding duplicate content?

Content Curation & Duplicate Content
Hi, I have a client that wants to do content curation but it has been my understanding that adding external content that is already live on another website to your website, you get penalized for duplicate content. I have read that you can create an excerpt and then Google won't penalizes you for duplicate content. Can anyone shed more light on this topic. Thanks

Same content on site blog as a separate blog. Will unpublishing on one blog evade duplicate content issues?
I just discovered my client was posting the same content as the site I'm working on for him on a separate blog. I don't want to run into duplicate content issues. Both are Wordpress sites. Will it suffice to simply unpublish duplicate entries on the other blog and leave the posts as drafts?

Can you link build without adding any content to the website?
I am an agency-side SEO who has a few different SEO clients. A couple of them absolutely refuse to add any content to their site - no blog, no articles, no link bait, nothing. They have resisted efforts for any content to be placed on their site - whether it is written by us, them, or a third party. They just don't see the value in it, despite my attempts to persuade them. As a result, these websites are just brochure websites. What are your options for link building in this situation? If content is the foundation of white hat link building, what do you do if the client refuses to add content to their site? All help gratefully received! Thanks

Does the duplicate content on the crawl errors report test content on external websites?
Hello, Can you tell me if this is just duplicate content within my site or if it also recognises duplicate content on external sites as well? Thanks

Many wordpress themes like mine have a homepage where the last 3 to 4 posts are displayed on the frontpage. Each post also has its own url where the post are shown seperately. How do I avoid beeing seen as duplicate content by Google?

Duplicating Articles/Blogs
Two years ago, some articles and blogs were written and submitted to certain tech and news sites relevant to our field. Will it be fine to submit those to other sites now. It is our content only and not some one else, but would it be penalty to submit the copy to other article sites whereever those articles/content are relevant today also?
