Wordpress category links not working

Hi
All of sudden, my category links are not working.
Any tips on figuring out what's causing this?
Looks like permalink problem with newer wordpress version.
I turned off all the plugins see if this cause any problems. Still not being able to find any option.

Hard to be sure without digging in your site, but here are some thoughts.
WordPress just updated to 3.4.1, did you? Is there an updated to the Genesis Framework or the Pretty Young Thing Theme? Both of the above should be indicated in your WordPress Dashboard.
Did you delete the post on accident? It may have had no content, but would have the slug "fetal-doppler-questions-and-answers"?
Do the posts under your faq's have the correct parent file listed?
Did you change the slug from "FAQ" to "fetal-doppler-questions-and-answers"? If so, change the slug back to "FAQ" or whatever it was. You might have done this for SEO reasons. If you changed the slug for the page, and want it used for your FAQ, try this:
DO THIS ONLY IF YOU CHANGED THE SLUG:
If the slug was FAQ, there may be a file named FAQ.php that tells WordPress to layout the page with slug "faq" using that file. So if you changed the slug from "FAQ" to "fetal-doppler-questions-and-answers", just change the file from "FAQ.php" to ""fetal-doppler-questions-and-answers.php" (CASE IS IMPORTANT.). Note, the file may be in the parent theme (Genesis).
Back up anything your about to change, and good luck.

Link flow for multiple links to same URL

my question is as follows: How does Google handle link flow if two links in a given page point to the same URL? (do they flow link individually or not?) This seems to be a newbie question, but actually it seems that there is little evidence and even also little consensus in the SEO community about this detail. Answers should include source Information about the current state of art at Google is preferable The question is not about anchor text, general best practises for linking, "PageRank is dead" etc. We do know that the "historical" PageRank was implemented (a long time ago) without special handling for multiple links, as e.g. last stated by Matt Cutts in this video: http://searchengineland.com/googles-matt-cutts-one-page-two-links-page-counted-first-link-192718 On the other hand, many people from the SEO community say that only the first link counts. No meta description on category page

No-index all the posts of a category
Hi everyone! I would like no-indexing all the posts of a specific category of my wordpress site. The problem is that the structure of my URL is composed without /category/: www.site-name.ext/date/post-name/

so without /category-name/ Is possibile to disallow the indexing of all the posts of the category via robots.txt? Using Yoast Plugin I can put the no-index for each post, but I would like to put the no-index (or disallow/) a time for all the post of the category. Alt text / internal linking
Hi everyone A question about best practice when linking from pictures on our homepage - hirespace.com We have an option of using divs with background images (nicer in terms of design) but it means that we can't use anchor text or alt text to show Google what these internal links are about. The other option is to use images which do not allow us as much flexibility in terms of CSS but would allow us to use alt text. There is also an opinion that we should have separate text links at the bottom of the homepage to get the anchor page in. What is best practice in this situation - is alt text worth sacrificing some CSS flexibility for? How important is anchor/alt text for internal linking? Thanks guys.

Best way to nofollow affiliate links?
I don't "nofollow" affiliate links but I have quite a few. Doing them one by one would just be an impossible job. Would it be best to get a plugin that nofollows EVERYTHING? What would google prefer? I need to DOFOLLOW some links because those sites deserve it.

Canonical URL, cornerstone page and categories
If I want to have a cornerstone "page", can I substitute an actual page with a category archive of posts "page" (that contains many posts containing the target key phrase)? This way, if I make blog posts about a certain topic/ key phrase (example "beach weddings") and add a canonical URL of the category archive page to the individual posts, am I right then to assume google will see the archive page as the cornerstone page (and thereby won't see the individual posts with the same key phrase as competing)?

WordPress and category/subcategory landing pages
Hey, Here's my situation. I'm building a WordPress blog for product reviews of a certain niche. Current category setup is 4 main categories with 4-8 subcategories each. Each subcategory has a unique description that will help it become a landing page for certain keywords, after which it lists the posts from that subcategory. The posts will always be assigned to a sub-category, never to a main category. My issue is what to do with the main categories. They're fairly general so they're not really targeting any keywords, and don't have any unique descriptions attached to them. I was thinking of choosing between three options on designing the main category pages: List the subcategories + normal posts loop that bring the latest posts from the subcategories (may create a lot of duplicate content since the subcategory pages are also listing their posts) List only the subcategories (+ maybe just the latest post from each subcategory) Don't link the main categories at all, instead only use them to create dropdowns for the subcategories So, what would you choose, and why?
