When my website Custom Made Casino switched from universal analytics to GA, i have noticed that now in the behavior section it is showing 2 versions of my homepage which I feel may be impacting seo.

It is showing the main url which we use for everything, https://custommadecasino.com/ , and it is showing https://custommadecasino.com/index.php?route-common/home. This was never the case with universal.

Does anyone know if this is a problem and if so, how do i fix it so that our proper homepage is what is indexed?

I think It is due to tracking code

Certainly! To address the issue of GA4 showing two versions of your homepage, you can follow these steps:

          Check for Duplicate Tags:
First, ensure that you haven't added the Google Analytics 4 tracking code twice on your homepage. Duplicate tracking codes can lead to multiple pageviews being recorded.

          Debug Your Tracking Code:
Use the Google Analytics Debugger tool or browser extensions like Google Tag Assistant to check if the tracking code is firing correctly. This will help you identify any issues with how the code is implemented.

          Examine Page URLs:
GA4 may treat slight variations in URLs as separate pages. Check if there are any URL parameters or case differences in your homepage URLs that could be causing this.

          URL Parameters:
If you're using URL parameters for tracking purposes, make sure they are correctly configured in your GA4 settings. GA4 allows you to exclude specific parameters to prevent duplicate tracking.

          Canonical Tags:
Ensure that your homepage has a canonical tag specifying the preferred version of the page. This can help GA4 consolidate tracking data for similar pages.

          Filters and Views:
In your GA4 property settings, review any filters or views that might be affecting how data is collected. Make sure you don't have any filters that could be causing duplication.

          Content Grouping:
If you're using content grouping in GA4, verify that your homepage is assigned to the correct group. Incorrect grouping can lead to multiple entries.

          Pageview Triggers:
If you're using Google Tag Manager (GTM), check your triggers to ensure they are set up correctly. Incorrect triggers can cause additional pageviews.

          Events or Virtual Pageviews:
Review any events or virtual pageviews that might be triggering on your homepage. Ensure they are configured as intended.

          Custom Dimensions and Metrics:
Check if any custom dimensions or metrics are affecting your homepage tracking. Verify that they are configured correctly.

          Data Stream Configuration:
In your GA4 data stream settings, confirm that the correct domain and subdomain are specified for your website.

          Real-Time Reports:
Use the Real-Time reports in GA4 to see if both versions of your homepage are actively being tracked. This can help you identify when and how the duplication occurs.

By systematically going through these steps, you should be able to pinpoint the cause of the duplicate tracking and take appropriate action to resolve it in your Google Analytics 4 setup.

            @stefangatti Hi Stefan,

Appreciate your response on this. I will definitely go through this. The staging site was not supposed to be indexed so I will definitely review this and make sure this is not indexed. Thanks for your input, very helpful!

              Hey @CustomMadeCasino,

I shouldn't think this is anything to do with your analytics set-up, but it certainly isn't ideal for SEO. In an ideal world you'd set up a permanent redirect from the non-standard homepage URL to the correct version. You could also add a canonical tag but a permanent redirect is the preferred method.

If you can edit the .htaccess file of your website you can even add a redirect rule using RegEx to catch any URLs, more info here: https://www.semrush.com/blog/301-redirect-htaccess/

On a related note, If you enter this into Google "site:https://custommadecasino.com" you'll see that your staging subdomain is also indexed (https://staging.custommadecasino.com/)

It looks to me like it would be worthwhile conducting a basic technical SEO audit on your website. Have you got Google Search Console set up with this domain? If so, the Indexing > Pages report can help you find issues. If not, I'd recommend doing it ASAP!

              Hope that helps!

              Cheers,
              Stefan

The particular page cannot be indexed by Google

                indexing googlesearchconsole onpage

                Hello, Smart People!
We need help solving the problem with Google indexing.
All pages of our website are crawled and indexed. All pages, including those mentioned, meet Google requirements and can be indexed. However, only this page is still not indexed.
                Robots.txt is not blocking it.
We do not have a tag "nofollow"
We have it in the sitemap file.
We have internal links for this page from indexed pages.
We requested indexing many times, and it is still grey.
The page was established one year ago.
We are open to any suggestions or guidance you may have. What else can we do to expedite the indexing process?

                Page Indexing without content

                indexing seo

Hello. I have a problem of page indexing without content. I have website in 3 different languages and 2 of the pages are indexing just fine, but one language page (the most important one) is indexing without content. When searching using site: page comes up, but when searching unique keywords for which I should rank 100% nothing comes up. This page was indexing just fine and the problem arose couple of days ago after google update finished. Looking further, the problem is language related and every page in the given language that is newly indexed has this problem, while pages that were last crawled around one week ago are just fine. Has anyone ran into this type of problem?

GA4 account & property not showing in traffic property setup list.

                ga4 traffic campaign settings

Hi there, I've connected multiple client accounts to GA4 already, but three of our accounts that we have administrator rights to in GA4 are not showing up in our selectable accounts/properties list when logged in via Moz to add to the traffic settings area. Anyone else have this issue and find a fix?

Custom Events Not Showing in GA4

google tag manager custom events ga4

I have some experience in successfully creating custom events for GA4 via Tag Manager, but I have one account where my events are firing in GTM but not showing at all in GA4 (not real time or anywhere). I have twice done them over and published my changes but still no luck. Any ideas what else the issue can be? There are no internal filters at the moment. Thank you.

My brand name has 2 words but Google only indexing as 1 word. Is there a fix?

Hi all...I'm at a loss. I've never had this happen. Google only shows pages of my site when I search the brand name as one word. When I Google the site as one word BrandBrand- it only shows my blog page and about us page plus Twitter and Facebook on page 1.  The homepage does not show up at all. When I Google the site as two words Brand Brand - My Facebook page is on page 1 but nothing else. The homepage isn't showing up at all. When I search both words on Bing and Yahoo both are indexing it as two words and shows on page 1. Any ideas?

Merge 2 websites into one, using a non-existing, new domain.

I need to merge https://www.WebsiteA.com and https://www.WebsiteB.com to a fresh new domain (with no content) https://www.WebsiteC.com. I want to do it the best way to keep existing SEO juice. Website A is the companies home page and built with Wordpress Website B is the company product page and built with Wordpress Website C will be the new site containing both website A and B, utilizing Wordpress also. What is the best way to do this? I have research a lot and keep hitting walls on how to do it. It's a little trickier because it's two different domains going to a brand new domain. Thanks

HELP: Wrong domain showing up in Google Search

So i have this domain (1)devicelock.com and i also had this other domain (2)ntutility.com, the 2nd domain was an old domain and it is not in use anymore. But when i search for devicelock on Google, the homepage devicelock.com does not exist. Only ntutility.com comes up. I asked one of the developer how the redirect is happening from the old domain to the new one and he told me its through a DNS forward. And there is no way to have an .htacess file to set up a 301 instead. Please help!
