How to track performance of subfolder?
-
I am working to improve SEO of a specific program offered by our school. The program's pages are located in a subfolder like school.edu/program. This program is different from other programs offered by the school, both in terms of content, audience, etc.
Right now, I tried to add the subfolder, but I feel that Moz is giving me results on the whole website. Also, I tried to add some competing programs from other schools (by adding their pages' URL) but again Moz seems to give me comparison results of the whole websites.

I'm trying to run a site with a sub-folder in the URL e.g. /UK/ but I too think the Keyword Explorer tool only returns results for the whole domain. Does anyone have any idea if this is truly the case as the whole UK website is on the sub-folder and I need to run it through the tool to find out how many keywords the site is ranking for?

Heya!
You can create a campaign solely for a subfolder (or even a subdomain) by selecting the +Advanced setting in the campaign set-up; just click the check box there and it will limit our campaign audit to the pages on that specific subfolder (or subdomain). From there, you can see in your Campaign Settings where if you've set it up for just that chunk of your site, or for the entire root domain. Our ability to report link metrics by subfolder is admittedly a bit limited, but keyword rankings and crawl will be fully representative of the section of your site you've specified.
I've created a short video here that will show you the steps in doing this in your own campaign. Give me a shout if you need any other details!

I'd really like to see keyword tracking available for subfolders. How many of our efforts are based around product lines, articles in a topic niche, articles of a single author.
A couple of decades ago, I burned out multiple computers running a log analysis program named ClickTracks because it tracked the performance of my folders, but the program was costly and became unsupported and when your last computer died that could run it, your ability to use it was gone for good.

Keyword rank tracking across subdomains
I would like to track how keywords rank across blog.website.com and www.website.com without setting up separate campaigns for each. We don't care if the blog, or the main site rank, we just want something to rank and therefore want to track both sites in 1 campaign. Is there a way to do this without setting up a separate campaign for the subdomain and the main site?

Track rank by multiple zip codes, radius, or state?
I work for a hospital that serves patients in multiple states. I'd love to track keywords locally, but entering one town or zip code at a time would take days. Is it possible to track locally by multiple zip codes, by radius, or by states?

Correct Moz Settings for Tracked Keywords Summary
Hi,For some reason, on my tracked keywords summary page, the URL shown to the right of each keyword appears to default to my homepage and not the page I want that keyword to rank on. How do I resolve this? I've tried looking around but can't see how to change it so that the correct URL is shown against the correct keyword. Many thanks! Bob

Moz's official stance on Subdomain vs Subfolder - does it need updating?
Hi, I am drawing your attention to Moz's Domain basics here: http://moz.com/learn/seo/domain It reads: "Since search engines keep different metrics for domains than they do subdomains, it is recommended that webmasters place link-worthy content like blogs in subfolders rather than subdomains. (i.e. www.example.com/blog/ rather than blog.example.com) The notable exceptions to this are language-specific websites. (i.e., en.example.com for the English version of the website)." I am wondering if this is still Moz's current recommendation on the subfolders vs subdomains debate, given that the above (sort of) implies that SE's may not combine ranking factors to the domain as a whole if subdomains are used - which (sort of) contradicts Matt Cutts last video on the matter ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MswMYk05tk ) which implies that this is not the case and there is so little difference that their recommendation is to use whatever is easiest. It would also seem to me that if you were looking through the eyes of Google, it would be silly to treat them differently if there were no difference at all other than subdomain vs subfolder as one of the main reasons a user would use a sud-domain is a technical on for which it would not make sense for Google to treat differently in terms of its algorithm. I notice that in terms of Moz, while most of the site uses subfolders, you do have http://devblog.moz.com/ - and I was wondering if this is due to a technical reason or conscious decision, as it would seem to me that the content within this section is indeed linkworthy (as it has external links pointing to it from external sources), therefore it would seem to not be following the initial advice that is posted in Moz's basics on domains. Therefore I am assuming it is due to a technical reason - or that Moz's adive is out of date with current Moz thinking, and is indeed in line with Matt C in that it doesn't matter. Cheers

Tracking Phrases in MOZ Analytics
I am currently using the 30 day trial of the MOZ Analytics tool to see if we want to continue. I know how to track one word key terms but how can I track multi word phrases? It only seems to pick up on the single word terms. Thanks to anyone that helps.

Track effects of content changes on specific page SERP
We are planning to implement changes to the content and layout of a page on our website due to the results of an A/B test. The URL, title, and meta will remain the same. How can we track the effect of these changes on this specific page has on SERP? We are being vague because we don't want to guide any answers to a specific question as I have not fully figured out MOZ's capabilities.
