I'm trying to get the star ratings to appear next to our client's website in google search results.  Here is the url:https://cstoneroof.com/

I believe I have it setup correctly but am unsure why the stars don't appear: structure data test here

I pulled the rating value and count from Facebook.  Not sure if it has to be Google reviews or if FB will work as well.  Anybody have any thoughts here?

Try Add lots of optimized content and build backlinks from niche directories and blogs & comments, but don't start spamming just for the sake of links.

Try Structured Data from Google Search Console, however You only can markup if you have rating on your website.

Thanks Tim! I actually noticed today on Google Search Console that it can show me where schema is being used. Just as it says in the quote above, it's currently only being used on my blog pages. I'm not very savvy with all this, so Wix has been an easy and inexpensive way for me to get a good looking website that gets results, but I can definitely see it has some drawbacks when it comes to customizing for SEO. Hopefully they'll add more options in the near future! I definitely went and voted for it on their site!

According to the following post fro WIX (not date stamped) - click here

"While it is currently not possible to manually add a markup schema to your site's source code, some of the content on Wix sites, such as blog posts and eCommerce, is already marked up in accordance with schema.org. "

From this I can only assume despite some schema being implemented, additional features such as Ratings will not be possible. They do appear to be trying to collect votes for this to be a feature.

This is one of my main issues with WIX, you can create great looking sites and SEO has improved, but for me having a custom build allows you to be much more, proactive, planned and reactive to the challenges that SEO offers up on a daily basis.

            Hope that helped.

Further to David and Egols, comments , agreed forcing too much schema and slapping it on everything is probably going to reduce your chances. On the whole the majority of places where my Ratings appear are product related with a genuine identifiable source.

A lot of webmasters have tried to produce stars but have never received them or have seldom received them - even on pages where a reasonable person would think that stars should appear.

Why?  I believe that a person who tries to force stars by plastering schema markup all over the website - and specifically on pages that do not meet the criteria for receiving stars - will be denied stars across the website.   Simply stated.... I think that there is such a thing as spamming schema and Google doesn't like it.

Disclaimer... I don't know how anyone would prove the above unless they could get Google to say that it is true.

To add to this, you will also probably never get star ratings to appear for your homepage. I've never seen star ratings appear on a homepage but would love to see any proof of it ever happening!

John Mueller said back in 2014 that "review rich snippets should only be used in cases where "the main topic of the page needs to be about a specific product or service." -- using them on your homepage in general wouldn't be like that."

                  Article on SE Roundtable here.

I'd think you'd have a much better chance of getting them to display in SERPs if you moved the ratings markup to relevant service pages on your site.

                  Cheers,

                  David

Along the same lines, anyone have experience with Wix and schema markup? Is it possible to get star ratings, etc?

You can use pretty much most aggregated data for your star ratings. Although I am unsure if they will block some sources, especially if you have stated the source as FB (although looking at your results that is not the case).

Secondly, despite having your schema attached to your site and with no errors, Google does not necessarily have to display it, one day it may appear, the next it may have gone, luck of the draw. If you have only added it recently, give it a bit of time.

You can find more on aggregate rating here. http://schema.org/AggregateRating

Review Schema Dropped Off A Cliff!?

Hello everyone, I recently implemented some review schema for my website which looked to be successful as my review stars were appearing in organic rankings with no problem! Yay! However... I've just checked in on where we are with these and they have literally dropped off a cliff and I have no idea why. See image attached with the graph that shows our reviews looking great in July/August then dropping off w/c 26th August. I literally have no idea why this has happened. The Schema Markup Tool shows no errors or issues with the markup either. Can anyone advise? 81Rv88Y

How and where to implement the AggregateRating schema?

I've been trying to wrap my head around marking up various bits of information for a local business website, and I want to make sure I understand a few things. If I understand Google's schema guidelines, marked up reviews should only appear on the page of a specific product, not every page, and _definitely _not the homepage, correct? Does this also mean that the LocalBusiness schema that is on every page should **not **use the AggregateRating parameter? And if the AR is only to be put on certain pages, what page should it go on if the business in question provides a service rather than selling specific products? In other words, situations where the local business _itself _is the "product" being reviewed/rated. Individual reviews cannot be taken from 3rd party sites (GMB, Facebook, Yelp, etc) and posted on your website with capital R Review schema (http://schema.org/Review). That markup is only to be used for reviews that have been generated on/for your site specifically. Does this also mean that the numbers used to calculate an AggregateRating have to be unique as well? In other words, if there are 10 reviews of your business on Facebook that average at 4.5/5, you can't take those individual reviews and post them on your site as marked up Reviews. But can you use that "4.5/5 based on 10 reviews" information in the AggregateRating schema? Can AggregateRating scores include ratings from different sources? In other words, if there were 10 ratings on Facebook and 20 on Yelp, could the AggregateRating be marked on the website as "__/5 based on 30 ratings"? If I can simply take the numerical average and pop that into the LocalBusiness JSON markup that goes on every page automatically, alongside the other basic business info like name, phone number, and address, this will make things much easier. Thanks!

If I use schema markup for my google reviews, would it be smart to have Google review's on my home page?

Hello, Moz's I'm thinking about added scheme markup to show my google reviews. I have a 4.8 rating and 25 reviews. I'm thinking about added scheme markup to show my google reviews. I have a 4.8 rating and 25 reviews. My first question is: when people see that and then visit my site, would it be good to have the Google reviews on the home page? My second questions is: Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to add this to my site? None of my competition has done this, so I'm a little apprehensive? Thanks in advance 🙂

Hello, I started using the Rich Reviews plugin for WordPress to display ratings and reviews starting on May 27th, but the ratings are not showing up in SERPs yet. How does decimal rounding of reviews to stars work in ios appstore? Starting from which average review score to get full 5 star rating?

Starting from which average review score to get full 5 star rating? Duolingo has a 5 star rating, but I doubt that they really have an all time  review average larger than 4,75. In the google playstore their average of the android version is 4,6. Does anybody know how apple calculates the star ratings or has an URL reference where this is explained?

Do ratings/reviews show up in Organic Search Results anymore?

I read about using schema or h1review to add markup that would get an individual person's review to show up in organic search, but it was from 2013. I did a few queries for keywords in my area, and none of the results had this. Then I did some queries for generic things like "best pizza in Tampa" and "coffee in tampa" and they didn't have it either. So, is this still something that can be done or not? I do see it when a review site like yelp comes up or in ads, but I'm specifically talking about organic search results from our website. Thanks, Ruben

Is there a better way to wrap schema on a testimonial page? Example website shown

Hi, Hopefully someone can help my dilemma! I am trying to wrap review schema (schema.org/review). However, it's stumping me because of our WordPress theme "Flawless." If any are familiar with this particular theme you'll know that there is the normal visual/text portion of the page-editing portion of WordPress, but there is also a page-building section which is unique to Flawless. In this instance, a Testimonial "Content/Post Type Item" has been used. This was where the page was constructed and wherein the problem lies. If I wrap schema around it like I normally would, the page distorts on the front end and becomes a garbled mess. I've been trying to solve the problem and the closest I've gotten has been to copy the source-code of the Flawless themed Testimonial Content/Post Type Item into the "Text" portion of Wordpress to replicate the Flawless page-builder. I thought "yay! I can wrap schema around this for sure!" but I'm still encountering some problems. If I'm using the structured data markup helper from Google, and copying and pasting the HTML I'd like (with the corresponding schema "header") I get an error on the Structured Data Testing Tool saying "Incomplete schema data." I've tried looking for plugins that would help me, but all that I've seen adds duplicate content to the page. If there's a way to wrap review schema on this page—it would make my day! Thanks for the help!
