My articles aren't ranking for keywords
-
Hello! I hope someone can help me...I've researched my keywords (long and short tail) for my articles but they are showing up as no ranking keywords. It looks like I've only got a few of my 15 articles which actually have keywords within - and I'm not sure why! Please can someone advise? https://www.el-well.com/helping-your-parents-declutter-their-home/ Thank you.

Here are a few things you can check:-
list itemMake sure your keywords are actually relevant to your content. This may seem obvious, but it's important to make sure that the keywords you're targeting are actually relevant to the content of your articles. If your keywords are too broad or not well-matched to your content, you're not likely to rank for them.
-
list itemUse your keywords throughout your articles. You should use your keywords throughout your articles, including in the title, meta description, headings, and body text. However, you don't want to overdo it with keyword stuffing. Google can penalize you for overuse of keywords, so make sure to use them in a natural and organic way.
-
list itemBuild backlinks to your articles. Backlinks are links from other websites to your website. They help to signal to Google that your website is authoritative and valuable. To build backlinks, you can reach out to other websites in your niche and ask them to link to your articles. You can also guest post on other websites or participate in online forums.
-
list itemPromote your articles on social media. Social media is a great way to promote your articles and reach a wider audience. Share your articles on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. You can also use social media to engage with your audience and answer their questions.

Thank you so much for this detailed answer - really appreciate you taking the time! Super valuable.

Hi Tom, thank you for your reply. Are you able to give some guidance on internal links? I've been pointing certain pages / posts on my site to others where they are relevant. Is it a case of increasing the volume of this? Backlinks, I'm on the case. Like you say, we're a new site but I'm focusing on guest posting etc. Thank you, Jess

Jessica,
If you are referring to the Moz Keyword Explorer tool not showing any ranking keywords when you are on the "Ranking Keywords" page exploring https://www.el-well.com/helping-your-parents-declutter-their-home/, then you just need to be patient. When you are on that page, you can read at the top right, "Keyword Data Updated Every Two Weeks" which means that you probably have more rankings than the tool currently shows because it's not showing real time data.
I did use that tool just now to explore your root domain and I see that Moz shows that your site is ranking in the top 50 for 85 phrases.
For example, you are ranking #4 for "self playing games for old people" and #13 for "putting on socks" and #18 for "staying fit for adults".
Also, I analyzed your site in ahrefs.com and semrush.com and found that their indexes show that you are ranking for 318 and 220 phrases respectively, in the top 100 in Google.
If you continue adding content to your site, optimizing that content, adding internal links to each piece of content, and building links in general to your site, you'll continue to improve existing rankings and gain more rankings for more keywords.
For example, on https://www.el-well.com/help-putting-on-socks/, change the alt text of the image from "Physiotherapist sitting down using a sock aid" to "Physiotherapist sitting down using a sock aid to help put on socks". It may help your rankings for "help put on socks" which is at #15 right now and "help putting on socks" and other similar variations.

Jessica,
I took a quick peek at your site and my reply isn't directly about your articles. I think you should focus your initial SEO efforts developing your business' distinct, core concepts of brand and details of how you want to get that message out. Also focus on your local SEO. I think time spent on those things first will make the time you spend on the rest of your content more valuable and more effective.
-
Give me a little bit of time to inspect everything it looks like you did a good job with the content but all of it is orphan that I've seen. Meaning there is no other internal link pointing to it. This makes it difficult for Google to find also the main website it's on does not have a lot of backlinks that has very few this can affect your ability to be indexed quickly and rank.
DOMAIN LRT Power11LRT Trust1Backlinks 84Ref Domains 13 give me a little bit of time and I will give you a better answer. Sincerely, Tom

I'm finding it difficult to make a decision on keywords to select to target for new site?
Hi, I'm doing keyword research for a small site and followed the standard keyword process of using Ahrefs and Google's keyword planner tools to see what keywords are being searched for my service. There are keywords that have a higher avg monthly search volume but they are aren't as relevant as ones that include the word cheap or affordable for example but those ones are only 300 monthly searches per month which seems very small for the main page of the site. Any advice what I should do in this scenario? Do I choose a more relevant keyword with lower search volume or go for one with much higher avg monthly search volume which is much more competitive?

Optimizing Webpages for Keywords- Using Text Links to Distribute Internal Page Rank
My Manhattan based commercial real estate firm hired an SEO firm. The company conducted a content audit, created a keyword matrix and suggested optimizing 51 pages for specific keywords. A specific price per page was quoted, which I understand and accept. I was under thought that setting up internal text links to redistribute page rank and thereby improve ranking for competitive terms was included in the price. But this task was not included in their quote. I really want to avoid getting nickeled and dimed to death. Should this cost be included, or legitimately is setting up the internal link structure something that is an additional expense? If this task is legitimately an extra, how labor intensive is it? A lit bit of extra time when re-writing pages or a completely different task that would be quite time consuming? Also, I believe the flow of page rank within a site can have a big effect on ranking, so setting up internal links is critical. Are these assumptions correct? For some background, www.nyc-officespace-leader.com gets 4,500 organic visits per month. Google Page Rank is 2 and the site was hit by Panda in 2012 but has partially recovered. I would really appreciate some insight from the MOZ community. I do not want to pay too much or too little for these services. THANKS, Alan

Ranking Factors
Hi, Question from a newbie. Several years ago, my company invented The Mosquito device which emits high frequency sound to disperse groups of troublesome kids. I guess you could say it went viral. The result was that we have always ranked at position 1 or 2 on Google and never really put any work in to it. It was automatic. My question is, that over the years we have brought out other products which were not as significant etc. and have put a bit of effort in to rankings in the UK and done OK, however, no we are about to launch something that is going to generate a lot of interest in the security market, but not as much as mosquito. We have therefore been putting some serious thought in to the name of this product and this is where i am stuck, i have only been learning SEO for a matter of months, just enough to know that i don't know enough, so here is my plea for guidance. Our company is called Compound Security Systems www.compoundsecurity.co.uk and we make GSM and GPRS communicating security systems that are battery powered and wireless, for use in empty properties, construction sites, farms, etc. Our new product is one of the above but with a visual verification (camera / video) system in it specifically for EXTERNAL use (there are 1 or 2 for internal use). The only name we can come up with that is not already in use is 'CompoundVision". Now, going back to Mosquito, we ranked 1 or 2 even though there are millions of pages of content relating to Mosquitos. We have a similar situation with CompoundVision. Compound is part of our company name, the camera systems will also be used to secure compounds, but 'compound vision' is how insects eyes work and there is a huge amount of content out there. I have run a keyword analysis in Moz.com Keyword analysis tool (see below) but i really do not understand how to draw a conclusion due to the mitigating factors above. Any suggestions / wisdom would be most welcome. Thanks Si Rank Page Name and URL / Vertical Result Page Authority Page Linking Root

Keywords + Country?
Hey guys, Let's say that I'm doing on-site SEO for a website that sells football shirts. This website targets 5 different countries. We only have a .com domain and no other country specific domains will be added at this point. When I choose the keywords, do I opt for product name + country or only product name? football shirts france or football shirts? Some info: Countries have been added in the title of the pages. Countries appear in the footer. Thank You.

Keyword research is tough isn’t it ?
I am only just realising that the Google Keyword Tool I use is aimed at Adwords customers and where competition is stated as low, they mean competition for adverts. When I have a ridiculously low amount of links and an equally low Domain Authority finding keywords is not easy. I presume there is some correlation between the SEOMOZ Keyword Difficulty score and the amount of Adwords traffic, but even very low Adwords Traffic Search Terms still seem to be moderately competitive. I guess its a case of plugging away with the Keyword Difficulty tool.
