Ranking on google.com.au but not google.com
-
Hi there, we (www.refundfx.com.au) rank on google.com.au for some keywords that we target, but we do not rank at all on google.com, is that because we only use a .com.au domain and not a .com domain?
We are an Australian company but our customers come from all over the world so we don't want to miss out on the google.com searches.
Any help in this regard is appreciated. Thanks.

Jamie is right. You will experience much larger competition in google.com than google.com.au based on the market size alone. Couple this with the fact that your particular industry is also very competitive.
Yes, it will probably help to have the .com when trying to rank in google.com but as Jamie rightly states, there are other elements of your SEO strategy that need attention first.
As well as your on-page issues, having had a quick look at your backlink profile, I would suggest that you do not have anywhere near enough links to compete with the major players in your market such as cashbackforex.com
Adam.

Because you are an Australian company with an Australian domain and hosting in Australia you will find it harder to rank on Google.com - especially for competitive keywords.
To be honest after looking at your site I don't think you're quite at your fighting weight for competing on tough keywords in a foreign search engine.
If you really want to rank in the US you might want to conduct an onsite audit to check for issues (example-home link in top nav links to /index) and also invest some time into link building.
Hope that helps.

You rank as #1 in Google.com for "refund fx " which seems to be the focus of your home page.
The population of Australia is around 22 million. In comparison the world's population is 7 billion.
When you compare google.com.au to google.com it is a completely different ball game. You can rank #1 in google.com.au but not even make it to the top 200 in google.com.
If you wish to improve your ranking in google.com, you need to sharply increase the quality of your SEO. For example, your pages all show the Australian flag in the upper-left side bar. That doesn't seem like a company who wishes to have a strong international appeal.

Rankings for Google Play Pages
Hey all, I'm relatively new here and certainly new to posting in the forums and interacting with the community but I hope to be much more active in the coming months. I have what might be a silly question regarding search results for a Google Play store-specific query. The company in question has their main North American app that's been out for a month and a half and then an International version that was released just a few days ago. If you run a Google search (NOT a search witin Google Play) for 'Google Play Company Name' the more recent (but less used and ultimately less important, at least for the time being) International app is higher in the SERP than the more used and reviewed North American app. I'm guessing that this is something that will correct itself over the next week as the North American app establishes itself as the more important of the two, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask just in case there's something they can do to affect the results a little quicker. Any advice, input or just a verification of my guess would be greatly appreciated!

Syndication partner ranking in Google News for our content
Our blog is part of Google News and is syndicated for use by several of our partners such as Chicago Tribune. Lately, we see the syndicator version of the post appearing in Google News instead of our original version. Ours generally ranks in the regular index. ChiTrib does have canonical URL tags and syndication-source tags pointing to our original. They are meta tags, not link tags. We do have a News-specific sitemap that is being reported in WMT as error-free. However, it shows no urls indexed in the News module -- even when I can find those specific URLs (our version) in the News. For an example: Here is a ChiTrib post currently ranking in Google News

http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/kickingtires_newsmap.xml One of our front-end producers is speculating that the Facebook sharing code on ChiTrib is having an effect. Given that FB is FB and Google is Google, that sounds wrong to me when we're talking about specifically Google News. Any suggestions? Thanks.0 -

Dismal content rankings
Hi, I realize this is a very broad question, but I am going to ask it anyways in the hopes that someone might have some insight. I have created a great deal of unique content for the site http://www.healthchoices.ca. You can select a video category from the top dropdown, then click on a video beside the provider box to see. The articles I've written are accessible by the View Article tab under each video. I have worked hard to make the articles informative and they are all unique with quotes from expert physicians. Even for strange health conditions that don't have a lot of competition - I don't see us appearing. Our search results are quite dismal for the amount of content we have. I guess I'm checking to see if anyone is able to point me in the right direction at all? If anything jumps out... Thanks, Erin

Ranking with a .nu TLD
Hi everyone, A few weeks ago i purchased a .nu TLD, it's a really nice domainname but i'm wondering if it's possible to rank with this domain in Google? I've heard several times that it doesn't matter for Google which TLD a site has, but i normally never see .nu's high in the SERP's, what are your opinions about this? Is it possible for me to get this site high in google with good links and quality content? Thanks!
