Blog commenting
-
When commenting on blogs and the only link you can have is your author name (Ex. Commented by Mike), what are you gonna have, a name, the name of your company or the keyword that you are trying to rank for?
Thanks!

Matt Cutts states that Google discounts them, it does not say there is any exceptions.

I would asume that all the rerady made comment plug ins would be know to google and will be discounted, but home made comment systems may work, if they are not no-follow
But I woul;d say you are wasting your time
-
I disagree. I don't think blog commenting is a waste of time as long as your comment brings value to that blog. It is not the fact that you are commenting but the quality of it. If the link is on a authoritative site and you have something valuable to say, I think it will pass some good link juice and will not be seen as spam by search engines. Of course, this should not be used a a link building technique by itself.
-
I second that. Blog commenting is a waste of good time. You could do something else, using half the time yet achieving good results.
My tip for link building is always to create something that people will want to link to. Sounds like a teachers pet answer but I'm not writing this for Matt Cutts. It just really makes sense - and it's scalable.
-
Search engines can tell if a link is in the commments. They will treat it as it should be treated as spam. You are wasting your time. These ae not the links that search engines are looking for when ranking your site.

Thanks Adam!

Exactly. A great answer from Adam.
Stick to the Blog rules/commenting policy, otherwise you could find that your comment is removed by the blog moderator.
-
It depends on the blog. General good manners dictate that you use your name or company name, but some blogs don't mind if you use your keywords. Read the blog's comment policy and/or look at the other approved comments to see if it's OK to use your keywords.
If in doubt, use your name or company name. Many bloggers don't appreciate keyword comments - they look less authentic and more spammy.

Do follow Blog comments
Alright,
Link Building | | sebastiankoch
I would like to know what do you think about this practice in general and hear some answer for my case. My case: I know a net of different blogs that let you put do follow comments as long as they are good. It is not really a lot of spam going on yet, around 6 comments per blog entry. The do follow link is in the form www.xyz.com. Normally a PR 3 after the post ranks.
There are around 20 different blogs. I have already use them and I believe with good results but can´t measure it as I do many other SEO activities. Would you recommend to get to invest time commenting in all of them? Even if all them are in the same C-block? Please feel free to share any experience!

Guest Blogging as an Agency
Hi, I have the following problem regarding guest blogging. When sending out the pitch one can utilise the client's email so it appears coming from the business/client itself rather than an SEO agency. However the problem that I am facing is what author bio to use. Is it good to sign the posts as the internal SEO agency copywriters, as the client or I have found some suggesting to create a fake persona. If the client or client staff as the author bio is not a solution what is the best way? I hope my question is not confusing but this would really help me out. Thanks in advance Kind Regards, Conrad

Guest blogging on a "network" of sites. Good or BAD?
Hi guys! We have the opportunity to guest blog on a network of sites. Basically, this is a syndicated network of sports blogs (around 200) that all link to each other. They own and operate a blog for each major sports franchise. They each average a DA around 60, but almost all of their link equity comes from blogs they own and operate.... My question is this, should we take the opportunity to create editorial content with links back to our site. This would not be paid side or footer links, but real content relevant to their blog and our industry. On a side note; All of these site have a very decent DA and show up well in Google... Thanks for any advice!!!

What is the purpose of submitting your blog articles to directories?
I was wondering what the purpose of submitting your blog articles to directories are. Doesn't it require enough "points" or "+1's" for it to become a "do-follow" link? People on the forum talk about automating directory submission, can anyone recommend a good software for this? I've been hearing that Google Penalizes you for article submission because it looks like spam?
