About NOFOLLOW tag for SEOmoz analysis
-
Hi all,
Another issue while trying to resolve all the duplicate content SEOmoz reports to me. May be some of you guys can help:
I have a dynamic error page on our website, generated in case of error, that can happen on many urls. Of course that one should not be indexed.
I added the following tag on the HEADER:
name="robots" content="NOODP,NOINDEX,NOFOLLOW" />
To me this should prevent from having this page indexed, but also from having this page reported by SEOmoz analyzer as duplicate content.
Any hints?

The error appear on a set of URLs that are not valid, and our CMS result an error (a bit like a 404 except that it is not a 404 but a url with bad parameters)
So all these url goes to the same error/warning page dynamically generated by the CMS but there is not a redirect. Something that can happen for instance on access denied for protected content.
My bet was to place this
<meta < span="">name="robots" content="NOODP,NOINDEX,NOFOLLOW" /> on this page.</meta <>
SEOmoz tools still report the error of duplicate content.
I could of course also set a canonical but I have no idea of which URL to use for it.

Sorry, I'm a little confused. Does the error page appear on the same URL of the page, or on it's own set of URLs.
In theory, the solution you described should work. I might also add a canonical to the head pointing to a single error URL.
That said, I'd love to take a look at it. If you'd like, feel free to share your site/URL, or private message me and I can take a look at the campaign.

We're back. THANK YOU SEOMoz!
To all the Mozzers reading this, I joined SEOMoz in a panic when we were seeing the first hints of an impending ranking crisis for our company website in October, 2012. We tanked in late December for our most important keywords. Simply GONE. Holy C---! It was devastating to say the least. Thankfully, we have a lot of work due to current clients and referrals, but the phone got quiet. That's a deadly sound.15 years of comfort zone gone. I still don't know precisely why it happened, it may have been a number of factors. But I've learned a huge amount through this crisis and can honestly say that I'm glad it happened. How weird is that? But what other fire under my butt would have gained me so much curiosity, fascination, engagement and excitement with deepening my scant knowledge? A week ago, we got our first report showing us that we have now gotten back our positions on page 1 for the 10 keywords that matter. It's continuing to improve according to today's report. So now that I've gotten somewhere- and I am well aware that it may not stick and there is still more to do -it's time to shout out a great big "Thank You". Truly, I don't think I could have survived this situation without SEOMoz and all you wonderful Mozers answering my frantic questions and lending your expertise and support to my situation. It wasn't only my own questions and the responses to those that helped me through this. I have been essentially addicted to reading a vast majority of all the posted questions because it's so dang interesting. So I've been learning bucketfuls from other people's questions and responses. My own personal SEOMoz education. It's only just begun. What an incredible culture and community we have here. I feel I can say "we" now because I am beginning to feel a part of it. And I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. I love this place. Thank you!

SEO process suggestions / keyword analysis
hi all, we've done a bit of SEO over the years for our site, and are looking to pick things up this year and spend more time on SEO. first off, we are working on revising our keyword list & would like to view what keywords specific competitors are ranking for and try to target those keywords as well. is this possible via SEOmoz (similar to spyfu)? please let me know if you feel this is a good first step in picking up our SEO efforts for the new year. i've been looking at the research tools & is seems the Keyword Difficulty Tool hasn't been fully functional for the past week or so ("Our Keyword Difficulty Tool is having issues displaying AdWords API data. We are working with the AdWords API folks to get a fix soon!"). also, i noticed i can enter competitor sites in open site explorer & compare link metrics, but i don't see anywhere to compare keyword metrics. is there something i'm missing? thanks again everyone!

Question regarding the SEOmoz Report Card
A report card is directed towards one keyword. What if one is to target two keywords on one page? For example, if I want to target SEO in Miami, Miami SEO, and SEO Miami it would be impossible to get an "A" on the report card for all three. What is the best way to target two-three keys on one page? Lets say these keywords are equally beneficial to the site, and we do not want to have to use hierarchy for one key over the other. Would it be wise to build a page for each? I feel like that would be redundant to the user. It says I need the keyword 4 times in the body so I should have 4 "SEO Miami" and 4 "Miami SEO". High importance factors. What makes them high importance? The keyword should be in the beginning of the title. How does this make sense as a high importance factor. Many titles are going to sound spammy if this is how they are written. Lets use Miami SEO again as an example: Miami SEO from [company name] bla bla bla sounds like spam. Learn about SEO in Miami from [company name] sound much better and is probably more likely to get clicked on. How important are these High Importance factors? I was always under the impression that we build the site for the user however the report card changes that perspective.

SEOMOZ can we trust you?
I was thinking today what are the chances that SEOMOZ can look into my campaigns and see what keywords I am targeting, strategies etc. and then sell that information to others? There has to be some type of clause when you sign up correct? But who knows because I'm not sure. Having Rand and Matt Curts talking via twitter to each other kind of concerns me. Not that I'm worried that Google will know my strategies because we don't do any black-hat linking and anything shady but how much power does SEOMOZ really have and can they leak any information to other companies or Google? Scary stuff that's why I don't put all my eggs into one basket, I spread them out. Thoughts? Thanks in advance - Brett Shaffer

"Powered by SEOMOZ" at the bottom of White Label reports?
I'd like to upgrade to Pro Plus for the white label / own branding option. However, I have just noticed that the "white label" pdf reports still feature "Powered by SEOMOZ" at the bottom of each page. Is this a mistake? $2400 / year should be enough to remove SEOMOZ branding completely, surely?
