Since Google Analytics no longer shows the keywords used by people to find a site online, does the SEOMoz toolset provide somethng to show this data?

This was written in 2012, is this still the case, if so where does one find this in the sea of analytic data?

GA does still provide keywords, so you must be talking about the (not provided) list of keywords, correct?

If this is the case, then No, there isn't an easy way to track this information.  But if you want to spend some time you can get a rough idea of keywords based on the landing page they are hitting.

For any page on your site, you can see a complete list of keywords that landed on the page (with percentages).  So now you can take these percentages and use them with the Not provided numbers from Google.

        For example:

page1.html - 100 landed visits from the keyword "example", which accounted for 10% for that page.

page1.html - 1000 visits from the keyword "(not provided)", so with a little math you can estimate that 10% of the 1000 visits came from the term "example"

**I should note the term used from GA is "Entrances".  This is the number you need to use.

In addition to Google Analytics we use a site called luckyorange.com

Joel is correct.  Analytics does still allow you to download a report that shows the actual keywords used that led them to your website

Last I checked Analytics still gave insight on keywords.

If you use google analytics it will give you every keyword that a person uses to get to your site. You need to follow the reports. I have the app for my iPhone and iPad. I monitor my site daily. One of the best features is seeing how people get to my site.

Analytics shows me their operating system used

                Keywords Used

                Unique visitors

                location of the search

and a crazy amount of data

                Best part it is free.

                http://www.google.com/analytics/

                Hope this helps.

No, from what I know there is no way to find out as this is given and done by Google.

SEOmoz gathers information from Analytics as well, so that will not help. But Analytics will give you an idea of what is going on.

I'm frustrated, so want to ask a stupid question....My site.. www.seadwellers.com outranks my biggest competitor in most Moz catagories... www.rainbowreef.us ...EXCEPT Facebook likes...(he has a ton)  **And yet, rainbowreef.us outranks me in most keywords on
Google?!  I know it's not simple...but  Can anyone take a quick peek and give me any insight as to why???  ** Example "Dive Key Largo" keyword...he is #1 and I am #5...typical in the most important keywords!

                    Keyword Research and Planning Flow

Hello, First post here. I am a IT infrastructure engineer that does application and deployment work mostly,  but new to SEO. That being said, I am a firm believer in demming wheel and defined process/flow charts. I have a website up, built as best practice, its a Magento CE open source Ecommerce store.  After some initial research,  it seems I really need to define my keywords before I start branding my landing pages and such. So i am going to have to go back and implement the keywords and evaluate. But as I am reading it seems most SEO people try their keywords in google ad words first? Then implement? I am hoping to find some flow or process sheets on how successful Keyword research is done via step by step process and evaluation. And explanations of each. How many keywords to start with per landing page, how many to try and get in the H1 headers, paragraphs, URL. How long to leave keywords in to test? Also, I am a start up company that is competing with the big boys in my market space. I know I cant compete for the big keywords in my market? What is my best strategy for getting any kind of ranking as a small business in a global market? SEO is a mysterious, intriguing thing to me! Very much reminding me of one of my favorite whimsical quotes I will leave you will now, and thanks for reading. -Alex "Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple." - Willy Wonka

Find Historical SERP Ranking for a Term?

Is there any way to find out what pages ranked for a given term historically? I.e. what were the top 10 search results for "Widgets" 6 months ago, 1 year ago, 2 years ago? If I had a campaign tracking that term, I'd be able to look back, but I do not. Does this data exist anywhere in a format that could be queried?

Is there any way to move keywords from one Campaign to another?

We recently moved content off a subdomain onto our main www subdomain.  Each of these was previously tracked as its own campaign.  Now that the content is consolidated, I'd like to move the keywords that we were tracking on the first campaign over to the second. I don't see an option to migrate, or export/import keywords.  Is there any (non-manual) way to do this? Thanks

What user agent is used by SEOMOZ crawler?

We have a pretty tight robots.txt file in place to only allow the major search engines.  I do not want to block SEOMOZ.ORG from being able to crawl the site so I want to make sure the user agent is open.

How can a site have a backlink from Barclays website?

Hi, I have entered a competitiors website www.my-wardrobe.com into Open Site to see who they get links from and to my surprise they have a load from Barclays Business Banking. When I visit the page I can not see the links. But if I search the pages source code for my-wardrobe, there I have it, a link to my-wardrobe.com. How have they done this? Surely Barclays haven't sold them it? And more so, why are they receiving link juice when you cant even see the link on the Barclays page in question - http://www.barclays.co.uk/BusinessBanking/P1242557952664 Thanks | |

Meta keywords no longer in use

Can someone point me to the official article explaining why meta keywords are no longer taken into account by search engines please? I know Moz has indicated that search engines ignore them, but I would like to read a bit more about it - what was the reason behind it and since when.
