What is the best way to optimize/setup a teaser "coming soon" page for a new product launch?

Within the context of a physical product launch what are some ideas around creating a /coming-soon page that "teases" the launch. Ideally I'd like to optimize a page around the product, but the client wants to try build consumer anticipation without giving too many details away. Any thoughts?

Keri's example of Moz's "top secret project" is a good one.
If you Google "top secret project" they are appearing at the bottom of the second page SERP.

I wouldn't know. Never have heard of a company that ever tried to give out any teases when anything new is coming along.

The tricky part is the client wants to keep the product a "secret". They don't want to create the product page as the teaser URL, since the optimized URL for the new product would reveal the new product itself.
I agree with your approach, but I the trick here is going to be optimizing a /coming-soon page that then redirects to the new product page a week or two before the launch.

Not knowing the product kind of makes it difficult to go on that; however, some of these ideas may work.
I would create a landing page for the physical product, then additional pages optimized around the product launch:
- [product name] Release Date
- [product name] Specifications or Specs
- [product name] News
- [product name] Price
- [product name] Pre-order
- [product name] Price
- [product name] Sneak Peek
- etc.
Create a landing page that is specific to any question that a visitor would/could have about the product.

Is it ok to repeat a (focus) keyword used on a previous page, on a new page?
I am cataloguing the pages on our website in terms of which focus keyword has been used with the page. I've noticed that some pages repeated the same keyword / term. I've heard that it's not really good practice, as it's like telling google conflicting information, as the pages with the same keywords will be competing against each other. Is this correct information? If so, is the alternative to use various long-winded keywords instead? If not, meaning it's ok to repeat the keyword on different pages, is there a maximum recommended number of times that we want to repeat the word? Onsite Videos- Multiple on a Single Page- How to Optimize?
I have a specific page which needs multiple videos. A primary video of the client (Youtube Video) and two secondary videos with patient testimonials (Wistia Videos). Why does Google rank a product page rather than a category page?
Hi, everybody In the Moz ranking tool for one of our client's (the client sells sport equipment) account, there is a trend where more and more of their landing pages are product pages instead of category pages. The optimal landing page for the term "sleeping bag" is of course the sleeping bag category page, but Google is sending them to a product page for a specific sleeping bag.. What could be the critical factors that makes the product page more relevant than the category page as the landing page?

Sitemaps during a migration - which is the best way of dealing with them?
Many SEOs I know simply upload the new sitemap once the new site is launched - some keep the old site's URLs on the new sitemap (for a while) to facilitate the migration - others upload both the old and the new website together, to support the migration. On 1 of our sites we have our Company name in the H1 on our other site we have the page title in our H1 - does anyone have any advise about the best information to have in the H1, H2 and Page Tile

What would cause the wrong category page to come up?
I am trying to figure out why the wrong thing is coming up in the serps. For example, we are trying to rank for used widgets. But when you type in used widgets in google the primary widget page doesn't come up, one of the secondary categories under used widgets comes up. What would cause this? What are things I should check?
