What should I do with URLs that cause site map errors?
-
Hi Mozzers,
I have a client who uses an important customer database and offers gift cards via https://clients.mindbodyonline.com located within the navigation which causes sitemap errors whenever it is submitted since domain is different.
Should I ask to remove those links from navigation? if so where can I relocate those links? If not what should I do to have a site map without any errors?
Thanks!

Hi Christy,
Unfortunately not!

Sorry I can't display the name of the client. The only thing I can provide is the image I provided about the errors in my initial post.
-
Taysir - Do you have an example of the sitemap that you're submitting that you can display here? I'm happy to take a look at it...

Sorry Jeff But my client and I are located in San Francisco. Can you still help me figuring out the issue?
Thanks

Taysir - You're welcome!
Sounds like you might be nearby in the Boulder, Colorado area (with the type of clients listed). Swing by the office here in boulder if you have a chance... Customer Paradigm, 5353 Manhattan Circle #103, Boulder, CO 80303.
Thanks!- Jeff

Hi Jeff
My client which I can't mention the name uses https://clients.mindbodyonline.com links on its main navigation. The issue is that whenever a sitemap is submitted, errors occur because of https://clients.mindbodyonline.com URLs placed in the navigation.
My goal is to have a site map without any errors.
Thanks for letting me know!

Taysir,
I took a look at the XML site map your Drupal site automatically generates here:
https://www.mindbodyonline.com/sitemap.xml (It's not linked from the site, but I just guessed the URL.)
Of the 836 URLs in the xml site map, I don't see the https://clients.mindbodyonline.com login link listed in the site map.
Do you have a different site map? Or, are you trying to do a sitemap for the https://clients.mindbodyonline.com subdomain? I didn't find anything listed there either.
If you are trying to generate a "view all" list of each location, so that you can direct people to the correct appointment scheduling link, you might want to have a list that lists everything. Doing a quick search with the letter 'a' or 'e' or 't' in the search box returned about 150 results. (These are the three most common letters in words, and are often helpful when trying to break codes using repeating letters.)
So, I'm probably a little confused about what you are trying to accomplish with a site map, and what is causing you to get that error...
If you want to give a little bit more information, that would be great...
Thanks,
-- Jeff

Numbers in URL
Hey guys! Need your many awesome brains. 🙂 This may be a very basic question but am hoping you can help me out with some insights beyond "because Google says it's better". 🙂 I only recently started working with SEO, and I work for a SaaS website builder company that has millions of open/active user sites, and all our user sites URLs, instead of www.mydomainname.com/gallery or myusername.simplesite.com/about, we use numbers, so www.mysite.com/453112 or myusername.simplesite.com/426521 The Sales manager has asked me to figure out if it will pay off for us in terms of traffic (other benefits?) to change it from the number system to the "proper" and right way of setting up these URLs. He's looking for rather concrete answers, as he usually sits with paid search and is therefore used to the mindset of "if we do x it will yield us y in z months". I'm finding it quite difficult to find case studies/other concrete examples beyond the generic, vague implication that it will simply be "better" (when for example looking at SEO checklists and search engine guidelines). Will it make a difference? How so? I have to convince our developers of the importance and priority of this adjustment, or it will just drown in the many projects they already have. So truly, any insights would be so very welcome. Thank you!

Has Google Stopped Listing URLs with Crawl Errors in Webmaster Tools?
I went to Google Webmaster Tools this morning and found that one of my clients had 11 crawl errors. However, Webmaster Tools is not showing which URLs are having experiencing the errors, which it used to do. (I checked several other clients that I manage and they list crawl errors without showing the specific URLs. Does anyone know how I can find out which URLs are experiencing problems? (I checked with Bing Webmaster Tools and the number of errors are different).

Redirecting a old aged site to a new exact match site?
Hi All, I have a question. I have 2 sites with me in the same sector and want some help. site 1 is a old site started back in 2003 and has some amount of links to it and has a pr 3 with some good links to it but doesn't rank much for any keywords for the timing. site 2 is a aged domain but newly developed with unique content and has a good amount of exact match with a .com version. so will there be any benefit by redirecting site 1 to site 2 to get the seo benefits and a start for link bulding? or is it best to develop and work on each site? the sector is health insurance. Thanks

Keyword and URL
I have a client who has a popular name (like 'Joe Smith'). His blog URL has only his first name and the name of his company in it, like joe.company.com. His blog doesn't rank well at all in the first 3-4 Google SERPs. I was thinking of advising him to change the URL of his blog to joesmith.company.com, and having his webmaster do 301 redirects from the old URL to the new one. Do you think this is a good strategy, or would you recommend something else? I realize ranking isn't just about the URL, it's about links, etc. But I think making his URL more specific to his name could help. Any advice greatly appreciated! Jim

Can I redirect a URL that has a # in it? How?
Hi there - My web developer is saying that I can't do a URL redirect with a "#" in it. Currently, the URL is actually an anchored link within a page (which the URL indicates with a #). I want to change the content to a new URL, but our website links internally to the old URL, so we would need to do a URL redirect (assume 301). Can you tell me if this is possible and how? Thanks!
