My e-commerce site is getting great results with customer search for our store name, but we are still on page three or four in google when search for product key words. How can I get us on the first page when searching with product titles?

Anyway, some basic tips I would give for you to rank better for product names/types are:
- Your site has very few backlinks. Upon looking at http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hocksports.com%2F&=Search you can see you only have links from 11 other domains. You ned to dramatically increase this. Perhaps start with these 5, they are very easy to obtain: http://www.bradkrussell.com.au/followed-links-authoritative-domains
- There is very little content on the homepage besides products. Try having some brand highlights and a bit of SEO text about what you sell (with links to your top categories).
- The same can be said for your category pages. E.g http://www.hocksports.com/baseball-softball-bats/ seems to be targeting 'Closeout Baseball Bats" and "Closeout Softball Bats" but you don't use these exact terms in your page title or on the page. You need to put more content besides just products. Write 1-2 paragraphs about the product type with a few keywords.
- Content, content, content. Start a blog, have buying guides for particular products etc.

Ranking well for brand terms and less so for more generic/non-branded keywords is common for most all companies. Like Brian said, there could be a lot of reasons, and that guide has some great tips to address. There's an entire art and science to making things work.

It depends on a number of factors such as keyword competitiveness, how well your on-page optimisation is for those pages, if your site is new or not, the quality of your backlinks and most importantly the quality of your content - is it educating the reader about that particular product?

Google Acquisition & Audience Segmentation
Hi. I'm trying to figure out a solution to two questions one of my current clients has asked me in regards to Google Analytics tagging, and I'm unsure how to respond. Can anyone help? See below the questions, 1. In Google Acquisition > Overview, their paid media is reporting as "Other". They do not run any Google paid ads. They only run Facebook paid ads. Is there a way to update the source so that it says "Paid" versus "Other" within the default channel? The current solution was advised to create a channel group that the client has to then tick on overtime they want to see this data with the correct labeling. They would prefer to see it in the default. Is it just a matter of going into the *default channel, choosing the "Paid" option, and then specifying the source/medium that contains Facebook, CPC, or referral to be categorized under this channel? Or is it something else? *Aware that changes to the Default Channel are permanent changes and will change how new traffic is classified. 2. Audience segmentation > The client wants to be able to define it's audience by shopping intent and informational intent. Is there a clear way to do this, for example, by keywords used, e.g. buy, product name, entry (shopping intent), versus e.g. non-purchase intent, entry to the blog, length of time on site (info intent). Would be happy to have a conversation about the last question, since I'm conscious that there are probably multiple ways to define this - thanks. SEO For A Title Company?
Has anyone ever had success with doing SEO for a title company? The owner of our law firm has one, and I'd be happy to work on it, but it just doesn't seem to be cost-effective. From my experience, title business goes to people who personally know the realtor; no one who actually has a say is "googling title companies." But, if I'm wrong, I'd love to hear it and any experiences you want to share. Thanks, Ruben

How come some local 7 pack listings link to site and some link to the G+ page?
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Even though a site profile has had the website added to it Google continues to link the main "title tag" link to the G+ page and not the actual website domain. Massive Google Drop on two sites!
Hi All, We have experienced a massive Google drop on Two of our eCommerce websites in the past week. From Feb - July we were ranked 2 for various key words In Aug we dropped to 8 In September to 96 if not lower. We pay for monthly link building and add unique product info each week (but not much new content such as articles or blogs). My SEO guys has not been that helpful and just sent me a link to the Panda update blog, which doesn't mean a great deal to me. Obviously this has had a massive effect on business, and ideally i need to diagnose the problem and find a new startegy on moving forward, so most likely looking for a for a new SEO guy/company as well. I need someone is proactive, communicates well and make constant suggestions about moving forward not just link building. One thing I would like to add is these two site have a different homepage, category and range structure, but do share some if the 2000 product database. Can anyone help? Any advice on sorting this would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks M

Google Places rankings go away, but organic rankings stay the same / get better?
Hello, I hope you all can help me out here with the information I could provide. Anyways, the past number of months I have had 1 of our clients rank extremely high organically and on Google places. For example: My client is a law firm so if you search “CLIENTS-TOWN Attorney” they would come up organically on the first page and if you were in that town and search “CLIENTS-TOWN Attorney” or even just “Attorney” they would also come up in the Google Places list. Now for some reason starting a week ago I noticed they have completely disappeared from Google Places. No changes have been done to their site and everything is the same as it was. Their organic searches are the same if not better than before. Do you guys have any clue as to why this happened and how I could possibly turn this around? Thanks for your help in advance!

How can we provide geo-detection without hurting SEO?
We represent a franchise, and the parent site does well for head terms, but we want to add a feature with the nearest location to a consumer based on geo-detection. We don't want to hurt the rankings for broad head terms. Could we use an iFrame to present the closest shop without affecting the general SEO we have done?

Site has taken a fall
I suspect (Although find it hard to beleive!) that a recently aquired link may have affected the rankings of one of my sites for all of it's keywords. Should I get this link removed asap or leave it and see if things recover? To me, it just smacks of un-nautral if the link gets removed straight away.
