Grid view vs. List view

I work on an ecommerce site and wondered if anyone had tested grid view vs. list view on product listing pages?
We use list view, but I think grid view might work better.

Have you tried to do any A/B Testing to see what converts better and has a higher engagement rate?
Services like Optimizely https://www.optimizely.com/ you can do free Live A/B Testing with very minimal coding required (apart from putting in the Optimizely script into the Body of the page)

Ah, so you already have something in place, from the initial question it sounded like you had list but not grid view. In that case I would definately run a bit of a split test that defaults 50% to list and 50% to grid, you can then measure a series of selected metrics to see which variant is the most likely to return further engagement etc.

Thank you for the reply. We do allow the user to select what they'd prefer, I just wondered if it's worth changing the default to grid view & then they have the option to move to list view - or perhaps this won't make much difference.
Ours is more image based, it's something I'll try and test first.

I did a few things like this from my time at VOW, Caboodle and the Post Office Shop. It is really more of a user preference thing than either selecting one over another.
What works best for your content - is it text or image intensive when it comes to your product listings, I often found if there was more image than text - a grid worked better, and vice versa if there was more text.
Also consider mobile - a list solution may be the best option on a smart phone and grid on a tablet.
The optimum solution in my opinion would be to allow the consumer/user to select their preferred layout. You could implement this as a checkbox/button that simply switches the css to display in either grid or list format.

HELP: Analysing data to make decisions, SEO vs PPC
Hi mozers! I have recently been seeing good results in the serps lately for my main keywords in my country NZ, now I'm seeing good results in Australia for these keywords and our USA domain is not far behind and making good progress... However, our NZ results show that we may get around 1 conversion every 3 days from our organic search. I read other places that click share for ppc was much higher, but there is no way we can match our competitors budgets from 3k - 300k per month. So our option was to focus on SEO. To me, the SEO results seem quiet low, however I'm not really sure how to go about diving deep into the analytics of it all to find out where I need to improve or focus on, which keywords are bringing these conversions. Maybe I need to go for long tail keywords etc... It seems my rankings are coming from general keywords which are still highly competitive, but even so, we are not performing to what I know we should be. Our competitors are mostly paying ppc, however I was told my ROI would be better spent via SEO. Any suggestions perhaps what I might be missing or doing wrong in this case. Time to purchase vs Time Lag for business cycle data
Hi All, Using just GA is it possible to get accurate information about buying cycle duration - i.e. length of time from first interaction to purchase? Time to purchase isn't what I'm looking for as it does not include direct visits. Time lag seems off as it suggests that the majority of conversions happen on day 0 (as does time to purchase). I know that any conversions outside of the time window default to 0 but I find it hard to believe that a clothing retailer has a similar buying cycle to a furniture store. Of course I could be wrong here, I'm making a big assumption. Neither report feels very robust to use for estimating split testing duration requirements. I know that there are other methods available, by comparing raw clickstream / cookie data but I do not have this data available, nor do I have the time to get it. Any info / advice would be great. Browser-based redirect vs. dynamic content
Hey everyone, We have a free browser extension for Chrome and a paid web product for all other browsers. Given the differences in product and pricing (free vs. paid) I'd like visitors to see a different landing page based on their browser. Visitors using Chrome should see a landing page with content about the free browser extension, while visitors from every other browser should see a landing page with content about the paid, premium web product. I'm trying to decide between these two options: a) 302 redirect visitors from one static HTML landing page to another if their user agent suggests they're using Chrome b) Use javascript to make parts of the landing page dynamic and show a different CTA and different copy for visits from Chrome Does anyone have any experience with having to make this choice? What are some things I should take into consideration for optimal "crawlability" and page-load-speed? Thanks in advance!

Contact Forms Vs Email Enquiries
This is a usability question more than SEO but I thought this community would be the one to ask. Are completed conversion rates generally higher for contact forms or email enquiries? I try to encourage our clients to have short contact forms where possible to ensure the first contact (ask questions later). Personally an email seems like a giant daunting and potentially irrelevant enquiry that could get lost in the plethora of spam emails flying around. Also half the time I start the email and then give up.

Listing Products With Descriptions: What Order Should They Be In?
This is more a user experience / conversion rate question than anything else. We sell several levels of membership to our organization. Seven to be exact. They range from Student memberships at $35 a year to very specialized memberships at $4,500 - $6,500 a year. I looked for information on how these products should be listed, but found nothing. Currently, they are listed with the most expensive level listed first. It's the only one displayed above the fold. I believe this is a bad choice. At a glance to a consumer, it looks like a membership costs $4,500 instead of a more reasonable (and more popular) $500 a year price. I don't want to start with the $35 option either. That is heavily discounted for students. Would it be odd to list the best sellers first and then have everything else listed underneath? Or does it need to be in price order? So, if anyone has an opinion or has had experience with something similar or has seen a case study, I'd appreciate the input. Thanks

Need help Tracking PPC vs Organic and respective ROI
So I have a client who uses PPC and Organic SEO to drive traffic. Once a user gets to the site, the most common action is to fill out a form. I have Auto Tagging enabled in Adwords so all PPC clicks have "gclid" in the url. I am also grabbing the Google Cookie and parsing it out to determine if the visitor is PPC or Organic. So I have an if statement in my form code to pass PPC vs organic through the form for tracking purposes: $url = 'http://' . $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] . $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']; if (false !== strpos($url,'gclid')) { ?> Essentially this is saying: If gclid is in the url, or if the cookie contains PPC

A very pertinent .me TLD vs. a longer, less pertinent .com domain?
Hey folks, John here, first-time poster. I have a dilemma I suspect you folks have already have an opinion on, but I'm a bit stuck. I think i have two basic options for choosing a domain name with the format of : 1. I can nab a .me with a very smooth, brandable, and pertinent/convertible and memorable domain name; 2. I can get a more obtuse sounding, less pertinent, lengthy, and less memorable .com domain. This issue is getting the click in the SERP. Assuming the same ranking and meta description, will the smooth .me suffer worse than the rather awkward and long .com? Is it your opinion that all other things remaining equal, will a .me suffer demonstrably over a .com Also, I'm not terribly concerned with folks remembering its a .me or a .com for search purposes, but should i be concerned for email purposes?
