Looking for a Social Analytics Reporting Platform
-
Hey Mozz'ers-
Wondering if yourself or team members us any good social reporting platforms - we are pushing our social media department to become more data driven and want to get some analytics on it. Beyond what we can get out a GA and/or Facebook or each respective platforms tool set - is there a tool you use to bring it all into one place?
Thanks!

Hi!
I know this question is a little dated, but I still thought I'd chime in here in case someone else is looking for an answer! I'll start off by saying that I'm not unbiased, as I work for DashThis. However, as a marketer, it's still a tool that I'd be using even if it wasn't where I worked.
It offers over 30 integrations (Google Analytics, Google Ads, Moz (and other SEO platforms), Facebook Ads (and other social media platforms), etc.), and one of the main advantages here is that the learning curve really isn't steep: there's absolutely no coding required when you're connecting your integrations.
If you want a report that looks attractive, and is also easy to understand, I think DashThis does the trick pretty well. And if you want to get started even more quickly, you can choose a preset dashboard template instead of starting from scratch. They've been created with our internal marketers to reflect the most commonly tracked KPIs for certain themes (SEO, social media, web analytics, etc.).
Plus, you can include as many of your platforms into the same report, so there's no hopping from one dashboard to another, which seems to be what you're looking for, right?
You can also create an automated email dispatch schedule so that your dashboards get sent to your clients or the rest of your team (depending on for whom you're creating your reports) automatically. And since they'll receive a URL, they can access their dashboard wherever they are. Plus, your data updates itself automatically - for example, if your client wants to consult his/her dashboard mid-month, your data will be up-to-date until that point.
If you have any questions, please do let me know, and since this was posted a while ago, I hope you've found a tool that works for you in the meantime!
Cheers,
Nathalie

Dylan,
There's lots of monitoring platforms available, I would try a few free trials and see what you like. Like Thomas, we use Agency Analytics, it's decent enough for social monitoring, mostly we use it for ranking monitoring.
I would suggest reading some reviews here, https://www.g2crowd.com/categories/social-media-monitoring. You can get an idea of what people like, and what they are using.
My suggestions, read reviews, then try free trials.
Hope this helps.

A tool that I use for some reporting is: https://agencyanalytics.com/ however I only use this with some automated reports for customers who don't want to use GA or search console so I'm not sure what their social analytics is like.
They do have a free trial so perhaps worth giving it a go?

Twitter Analytics: Follower Count & Reporting Inconsistencies
Our number of followers on Twitter has suddenly dropped (yet not dropped) in a really weird way. Twitter Analytics shows follower counts in two places: Monthly increases in followers, and then also in the Audience Insights tab, where you can see three months of follower counts mapped in a chart. Month-to-month, the total number of followers continues to rise. What’s inconsistent, however, is the total number of aggregate followers shown in the cart. Twitter just dropped our to total count of followers by about 600. But it’s not like we just suddenly lost 600 followers last month (in fact we gained far more than that), but rather that Twitter seems to have adjusted the aggregate numbers across the board retroactively for all months. So while month-to-month continues to show gains, overall, we still went down. The only way we would have even noticed this, by the way, is because we have a record of the OLD total follower count that Twitter had previously displayed as recently as last month. So confusing. We’re trying to figure out what happened, and the only thing that seems to make sense is that Twitter may have done a huge spam account purge, and instead of making it look like we suddenly lost a lot of followers, they just updated the aggregate total # of followers across all time……? [For the record, we do not buy followers, but we don’t always do the best job at blocking spam followers when the do follow us either.] Any advice would be appreciated, thanks. 🙂

Social in SERPS
Hi Guys, I have seen a lot of page 1 SERP exposure for branded terms due to social links being listed directly underneath the web listing - mainly twitter! I know there was an update to include this in SERPs at the beginning of the year but how do I specify or submit these to Google so my social accounts can too also appear directly under my web page? Does anyone know? Is there a code I need to implement on my site to pull these in? Thanks!

Multiple language redirect, link building and social sharing
Hi all, I have 3 questions bother me for weeks, thanks advance for any answers. We are an online langauge school, provide many content about learn Chinese , the site is http://www.chinesetimeschool.com/ 1. Langauge issue. As you can see, It's a multiple language site, when a user first time visit the site, it redirects (302) the user to his own language. I have read many articles about this, most said 301 is good than 302. But 301 is a permanent redirect, so it can only implement on one language, right? For example, if we 301 redirect http://www.chinesetimeschool.com to http://www.chinesetimeschool.com/en-us/ for english speaking users, we have to use 302 redirect for other languages, ie, 302 redirect http://www.chinesetimeschool.com/ to http://www.chinesetimeschool.com/fr-fr/ for French speaking people. Or in other words, we cannot use 301 to redirect home page to different language page, right? In my understanding, it will mess up google which language page the home page redirects to. 2. Link building. Our editor created a lot content, but from Alexa we only see 85 links back, which means our content has few exposure. We want to get more links back especially for the English version, any advice? should we find a US company help us since we are in China not famliar with US? Any good company or guys good at link building/content exposure suggested? 3. Social sharing. We have around 300,000 followers on facebook, many content pages has hundreds of shares, for example, this page http://www.chinesetimeschool.com/en-us/articles/new-years-greetings-in-chinese/ has 129 shares and 333 likes (I use Moz open site explorer tool), but if I check http://www.chinesetimeschool.com/, only has 130 shares and 414 likes. So I think shares of a page won't be counted in the domain shares. This makes me thinking of 2 things:

A. Will social shares of home page be more important than other pages? If so, we need share more of our home page.
B. Even if we have a lot page shares, I didn't see any google traffic changes (for at least half year), will it mean social page shares has very few influences to google seo? Many thanks!

Social Icons Link to Inner Pages
We have the social icons (facebook, twitter, youtube etc) in the footer of our homepage linked to inner pages instead of our actual social accounts. So, if you click on the facebook icon you go to one of our inner pages talking about our facebook profile and why to like us on facebook. Then on this inner page you can get to our facebook profile. We do this so we can pass on PR juice from our homepage to our inner page, and not lose it right off our front page. Is this a good idea? Or does it just confuse users? Most people think when they click on a facebook icon they will go to an actual facebook profile. Here is my homepage, http://www.buyautoparts.com/ click on the icons on the footer and let me know your thoughts.

How Social Shares on One Page Affects Sitewide Authority
If you have a great resource on your site that earns a lot of social shares, does that improve the authority of your entire site or just that single page in the eyes of Google?

So I am my coworker have a differing opinion on social networking sites.
One of us says to join one or two, Linkedin being one of them and just work those. The other says to build profiles on multiple pages - everything from Merchant Circle to fastpitch , essentially any and all, and not worry about activity level, just get the link. What are your thoughts? Which approve will result in more effective optimization for clients?
