Optimal Homepage Slider Tips?
-
Hello Moz Community,
I am designing my slider for 'SliderRevolution' on Illustrator. I wish to know the optimal resolution for a homepage slider - both for page speed and for resolution quality.
I am using a full-width slider and would just like to know any SEO techniques you guys have used when designing your slider.
Not reducing page speed is my main priority here.
*Bonus points if you can help with SEO techniques and the slider.

Hey there,
If you haven't finished your slider yet, just stop working now. There's no such thing as "SEO techniques for sliders".
Sliders are generally not good for SEO and UX, as you can read in all the articles related to this topic, i.e.
https://yoast.com/opinion-on-sliders/
http://searchengineland.com/homepage-sliders-are-bad-for-seo-usability-163496But if you still want to have one, just make static picture which will change with every page load. I think this should be the golden mean.
Hope it helps. Cheers, Martin

Listing and Linking Brands from Homepage
We have the popular brands that we sell listed on our homepage. We currently have them in just plain text at the moment but we want to know if it would be best to: Leave them in plain text Link each to the most relevant page on our website Link each out to the actual brands website Link some to internal page, others out to brands website, some blank Not have a list of brands We do have a webpage that lists all of our brands but there are hundreds we carry so we narrowed down the 40 most popular known brands that people will be looking for on the homepage. Thanks for your help!

Opinions On This Homepage
Hi Folks, I'm pretty new to SEO, I just updated our home page (http://alabu.com) to have some actual content (used to be just product images basically). Anyway, I'm trying to optimize for the term natural skin care products (and some variations on it), as well as goat milk soap a little (actually going to optimize a category page for goat milk soap, but since it's our flagship product I'm putting it on the homepage as well. Any feedback, opinions, advice, criticism, etc would be greatly appreciated. Let me know what you think. Thanks! Hal

Finished On Page optimization and slipping in rankings
Just finished on page optimization for a client that was on page 2 for the keyword. Went from an on page score of D to an A. But we are still slipping down the rankings. We were towards to top of page 2 now we are towards the bottom. Is there a time that it takes to change or does the on page not really make a big impact?

Homepage vs. Product page competition
I think my homepage and basic product listing page may be competing.. We have a very old domain with lots of links w/ generic anchor text ( click here, etc. ) That page is http://mybrand.com which Google ranks for our "widgets" search term. We have a page http://ourbrand.com/widgets that lists the 5 or 6 basic widgets we sell. This page is indexed also, but doesn't have nearly as many links since it is new compared to the age of the domain. After reading this.. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-solve-keyword-cannibalization I I'm not really sure I can remove all "widgets" links from our homepage, since that's a core part of our site's menu / hierarchy. So maybe my best effort would be to reorganize the page so that the homepage focuses on Our Brand Name Widgets .. and let the product page focus on the widgets keyword. Is having those two pages serve to represent those two separate but similar keywords feasible? Thoughts?

What is the best practice for optimizing international websites? We operate a .co.uk and .com and obviously content is similar.
We have two (and soon to be more) international websites, all in English. The sites in question are WebHostingBuzz.com and WebHostingBuzz.co.uk. Obviously content is similar as we're providing a similar service but from different locations and different prices. What is best practice here? Should we completely re-write the .co.uk content (this is the newer site) so it isn't penalized for scraping? Any hints/tips would be appreciated.
