Standardising of Company Name Across The Web Question
-
Good Morning All
There are two variations of our company name on the website.
Sometimes the name is listed as "name and name" and sometimes listed as "name & name"
The domain is obviously www.nameandname.co.uk
I believe I am correct in saying that we would be wise to go through and standardise, using one form or the other?
Secondly, my main question is would we be wise to use "name and name" as the default, as the word "and" and not the symbol "&" is in the domain itself?
Many Thanks

It would be very unlikely that using "and" instead of "&" throughout your site would confer any advantage and it might confuse your customers, if that's not the way they are used to seeing your name. So stick with the & you use in your branding.
As always when these types of questions come up and you are not sure of the answer, go with whatever is the best user experience and you are likely to be rewarded. (Also, take a look and some big sites like Lord&Taylor and see what they do—they don't give up their branding just because there is "and" in their URL.)

Hi Guys
Could someone just clarify the fundamental question when they have a second?
If we use "and" in our domain name, would there be an seo advantage to using "and" throughout the web, rather then "&"?
Many Thanks

Hi All
Thank you for the responses and indeed the consensus in the team is that & would be preferred as mentioned for visual reasons.
I just wanted to double check the technical relationship between the domain and the branding, both online and offline as mentioned. From a technical perspective, is it best to advertise with the word "and" for seo because that is what is in the domain name?
Many Thanks

How is the name written in other types of official correspondence—letterhead, signage, etc? The look of the name should be standardized across all sources, but that's a bigger issue than just SEO.
In terms of search, using "and" or "&" in searches will likely give you different (but very similar) results—try searching your company name with each one and see what Google already thinks of the two variants.
Using symbols like "&" can be more eye catching than just letters so that can be a benefit on a crowded search results page, depending on what else is there.

Hi,
IMO you should go with name & name and my only reason is it would be nice in writing & creating logo and there are many organization who picked '&' instead of word 'and' in domain name in similar situation.
It is just an opinion
Thanks

Website Name Before Search String in Google SERP
I'm curious to hear whether it's better to have your company name before the Search String, or after it?When I search for Church Management Software in Google, some results place the company before the string.

We have a large Facebook, pinterest and twitter following The site functions well there's room for improvement but in the UK the sales are a lot higher. I'm looking for a way to test our site on an american audience tos ee if we are conveying the right messages. Although we speak pretty much the same language what our customers in UK like could be completely different? Best way to structure a new company blog with multiple existing individual country sites?
Hi, we have a client who have multiple business websites .co.nz, .com.au, .co.uk, .com which all have unique content intending to rank in each country. These sites are on a CMS that has a blog function capability. Should we set up the blog on one of these country sites then link to other sites when appropriate? OR Is it best to set up a new blog on something like Wordpress (or what?) that takes all blog posts from all countries and then links out to the relevant sites when appropriate. So the new blog becomes the content hub and creates its own Google power to then pass when appropriate to the various country sites? Any suggestions welcome especially from people who are currently doing either of these methods, and have experienced the results both positive and negative of the different approaches. NB: there will be about 20 staff creating a blog post on a topic relevant to them per month each once blog is live.

Will you show a case study/live analytics of Moz before and after name change?
so many people are interested these days in changing domains either for branding purposes like you did or some people believe that having an exact match domain will save the day. I believe posting any knowledge you have gained through your fantastic looking analytics system could shed light on a subject so many people seem to be asking about. Some things I would love to know regarding the amount of people that you have either gained or lost through organic search along with your ranking for the term "seo" And other things you guys must be learning along the way as well. I would also like to know your opinion of having a meter of some sort tell us just how many new people type in Moz vs seomoz I tink it would be a great topic for people to learn about branding from as well as a way to show off your new analytics. Fellow Mozers to you agree or not? ( I now see all the little tricks you guys have been putting in our head by never using seo in branding for a long time aside from of course your name) Great job on the transition. Sincerely, Thomas PS. Did Roger get a new coat of paint or did you just take him to the car wash?

Press Release Company
I'm wanting to submit press releases to PRNewswire, BusinessWire and MarketWire.... but I dont want to take the time to fill out forms and fax them back, or pay the initial membership fees. Are there companies that just take the press release that you've written, and then send them out to these services? Where can I find such a company?

Is duplicating video across several sites a bad thing?
Hi, We have a fairly successful YouTube Channel where we create unique and helpful videos that are related to our core business activity. When we create these videos would you consider it a bad thing to not only post them on YouTube but also a couple of the smaller sites such as Metacafe and Dailymotion? Sending to multiple sites would possibly achieve more total views but would this kind of duplication potentially be harmful to the overall success of the video and have a knock on effect when it comes to how it ranks in Google? Thanks for your help.
