IS http://ezinearticles.com/ good or bad for backlinks?
-
-
Yes definitely get people interacting with your blog. This will get them to share it and ideally build you backlinks organically. Since your blog is (hopefully) tied to your domain, this will only work to improve your SEO efforts!
The best way to do this is via social media. Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus -- develop a presence on there. Find groups and communities that match your niche and get them to remember you and be interested in your postings.
It's all about content! Once you have interesting content, promoting it becomes easy. If you can comment on other people's blogs and have a relevant blog to link back to you will definitely gain readers. Keep in mind those links will most likely be nofollowed so don't just throw a link out there to get a link. Put it out there only if you truly think it adds to the conversation and people will naturally follow it and hopefully link to it themselves.
Good luck!

Great thanks for the advice! I have also started my own blog on my website, what can i do with my blog? Would you recommend to get people commenting on the blog?
-
Twitter helps too! Follow people in similar industries whether they would be potential clients or not and start participating in their postings. Comment on their blogs, develop a relationship and show them that you can actually provide interesting insight.

I typically go to Google and look up kw's you want to rank for. Take a look at the sites and if you see a site that you could potentially use your content, approach them. Make sure to make the content "useful" to them. Good luck!

Yeah thanks for that! Do you have any idea where I can find bloggers? My business is in the transportation sector in London in the UK.
Thanks

No, I wouldn't not use them. Rule of thumb--if some or all the content looks spammy, it doesn't help you by putting your links there.
Try building relationship with bloggers that you can submit beneficial content for both your sites.

Malicious backlinks
Hello to everyone! We have identified some weird links that are pointing to our site and we are not sure if they are considered malicious backlinks and we should disavow them. Most of them are directories of websites, the most common one is called "Top million domains by alexa" (you can see an example here: www.besafe.in/domain-list-237). Have you ever seen these kind of links before? Are they causing harm to our site? Thank you so much!

Whitehat site suffering from drastic & negative Keyword/Phrase Shifts out of the blue!
I am the developer for a fairly active website in the education sector that offers around 30 courses and has quite an actively published blog a few times a week and social profiles. The blog doesn't have comments enabled and the type of visitor that visits is usually looking for lessons or a course. Over the past year we have had an active input in terms of development to keep the site up to date, fast and following modern best practises. IE SSL certificates, quality content, relevant and high powered backlinks ect... Around a month ago we got hit by quite a large drop in our ranked keywords / phrases which shocked us somewhat.. we attributed it to googles algorithm change dirtying the waters as it did settle up a couple of weeks later. However this week we have been smashed again by another large change dropping almost 100 keywords some very large positions. My question is quite simple(I wish)... What gives? I don't expect to see drops this large from not doing anything negative and I'm unsure it's an algorithm change as my other clients on Moz don't seem to have suffered either so it's either isolated to this target area or it's an issue with something occurring to or on the site? Cloaking/Malicious Code
Does anybody have any experience with software for identifying this sort of thing? I was informed by a team we are working with that our website may have been compromised and I wanted to know what programs people have used to identify cloaking attempts and/or bad code. Thanks everybody!

Does Backlinks from User Profile Page Still Matter
Though, lot of algorithmic changes, updates have happened. However, backlinks from quality source or trusted sites has hardly lost its importance and thats why Open SIte Explorer or Majestic seo is still there to find quality of backlinks, trust factor and authority factor of the backlinks. I need to know does having backlink (dofollow) from Profile Page - still matters and if yes - will a do follow backlink from Moz Profile Page or any authority site or forum page, having dofollow link from user profile page - does it still count as a mark to authority of your site.

Backlinks for the same IP address
Hi Everyone I've been doing a backlink clean up as my site has dropped quite a lot in the search engine results over the last 4 months. While doing the backlink clean up I cam e across 20 different domains all based in the Washington/ VA area all with the same IP address. To make matters worse the contents and link to my site are all duplicated. Is this seen as bad practice from Google's perspective i.e. a link network.?? I look forward to hearing you comments Many thanks Jonathan

Blogspot or Wordpress.com Redirect?
I have multiple domains with the same registrar. Is there an SEO benefit to create complimentary blogs on blogspot, wordpress.com or other "free" blog sites and forward these domains with the purpose of backlinking to the main site?
