Should I spend time going back and optimizing old blog posts for SEO or just write new posts?
-
The site I manage (Boutique Estate Law Firm) has at least 350 old blog post archived that were not well optimized for SEO. Would it be valuable to go through and optimize those old posts or just write new optimized posts even though they are on the same subjects? My boss loves to churn out 300 word posts.
-
Honestly, maybe both? For me, it would depend on how useful those old posts are. Are they getting traffic? Are there valuable links pointing to them? If so, it may be worth it. If not, 301 redirect them to new, relevant, optimized posts.
For what it's worth, I also wouldn't recommend "churning out" blog posts unless they add value for your visitors.

International SEO (USA & UK)
Hi I have a client project site thats been operating successfully in the UK now for a few months and looking to expand offer to USA. Their dev team thinks best to have a UK & US subfolder with IP sniffer serving up the relevant version depending upon ip location Apart from price differences and some spelling differences content will likely be duplicate. Please can anyone offer advice in regard to the above such as links to latest international seo resources/articles etc (i have seen Aleydas great WBF). If anyone has any experience of above scenarios (i.e. knows of probs with ip sniffer method in regard to seo or essentially having dupe folders for uk & usa just with local differences) then any advice comments will be much appreciated ? Many Thanks Dan

Give me your SEO Review
Hi Mozzers, I've been working on redesigning and revamping this site, http://www.canvaspaintings.com. Their domain and keyword are a match but not ranking #1. Some initial things I feel that needs to be changed are the links on the side and top bar, viewing the on page report, it does have a lot of links on every page. Trying to figure out how to remove them without having the top nav look empty. Previous category descriptions were written by possibly an article spinner or keyword stuffed writer. Need to start building more links, although PR5, it doesn't rank too well. Let me know your opinions and thoughts, I would love to hear them out. TMI!

Updating Old Posts
I have ~ 45 posts that I wrote 2-3 years ago that need to be updated with current information and I'm wondering if I should: Just update them Update them and change the date published to present day Publish the updated info. as a completely new post other? ... and why. I've read so many conflicting thoughts on this, really curious to hear what other Pro members think (or would do if it were them). To give a little more background, the topics of the posts are various retirement communities. Things that may have changed could be they added new amenities, new home types, prices, number of homes still available, etc. I have one page of my site that acts as sort of a directory linking to an article(post) for each community, but worried if I add all the updates as new posts I'll have to link to separate articles about each community which doesn't really make things too friendly for the reader. They want to know about what's going on with each community now...not back 3 years ago. Thoughts? Suggestions? Many thanks! Ryan
