My Secret is this.... Stand up and be noticed be kind be wise and be engaging and be the best you can be in your niche create something that makes people listen and look and feel and react...and share and love and want to know this person..

if you was searching on line to buy something or a service what would make you purchase or inquire from that site?

I see there are lots of us here having that situation. Now I feel less alone, Dejane ๐Ÿ™‚

Btw, for me, sometimes it's 4 hours in one day, sometimes 1 hour in 2 days. And as Glenn wrote, hard to explain to someone I can give 50 hours worth work in just 1 hour sometimes. And 49 hours working can be wasted if it's not moment and mood ๐Ÿ™‚

Read an artikel about "flow" a fem months back - Kinda stating the same as you. Try and match your ongoing tasks so that you are both challenged and succeeding at the same time... This Will help build up that great momentum

What you experienced is called "FLOW". Check out a book called "Good Business" by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. When you achieve flow, your productivity soars.

Video. Adding video to each of my posts seems to build my brand and help out with things like "time on site". Posting the video to at least two or three platforms, but using the Youtube video on site sharing the same title as the post as well. Most of my videos and posts are on first page...so I think that works, but don't quote me...LOL.

Don't care for your competition. Don't care for the new fancy SEO stuff. Don't care for tricks or the "easy way".

Just do your homework. (site architecture, crawlability, quality links & content)

                                Here at SEOmoz that means:

                                1. Kill all the errors in "Crawl Diagnostics"

                                2. Bring all your keywords to an "Grade A" in On-page

                                3. Be the peer group leader in "Link Analysis"

Three simple steps ... easy as 1..2..3. Not really ๐Ÿ˜‰

My secret is to work at night and get into my zone.  Really the trick for me is to turn my A.D.D. into a strength and jump from item to item to item.  It is hard to relate to unless you have A.D.D. too.  You are able to hyper-focus into a wide ranged tunnel vision.  By the time I come out of it I have definitely made a mark on the web!

Hey John, you're right... an extra $30 does help. We usually add an Adwords budget into our proposals, so that  we can use more than just the $75. We do this because we feel like the best keyword research is pay per click advertising.

Google Engage is great, have you signed up for the Professionals Program?

Hey Nick, I didn't notice this until just now- sorry about that.
Do you mean the testing process for keyword research in Adwords?
We'll research the most probable keywords for qualified visitors, and then either:
#1. test tons of exact match keywords to see real-world worth of each, or
#2. put a few very short broad keywords in, and then use the tool "see all search terms' once the campaign is over to see what the marketplace is actually searching for

Then of course, we optimize the site and create a link building plan for those phrases.

My best hidden SEO secret would be adding the websites phone number into the meta keywords for the homepage only. If you have a missed call from someone, most people just Google the number however if you have the number in your meta description/keywords it will display your homepage as opposed to your contact page. Once they are on the homepage they will more than likely check the contact us page then hopefully browse the website. I sometimes use an image for the contact number on the contact us page so it isnt picked up by the crawler. Its a pretty small secret but its one of mine ๐Ÿ˜‰

                                                                  Hi Donnie,

I agree about this idea being a great one.  I just signed up for something called "Google Engage" (it's part of google), where you take a few online classes and they give you 20 $105 Adwords vouchers for clients.  I imagine if you use the 20 and bring new customers they'll probably keep the vouchers coming.

I'm new to it so I can't say too much, but the extra $30 might get you the stats you need to convince a client.

Farting around isn't. It's accessing inspiration. It's competitive research. It's market research. It's natural link-building. It's accessing actionable information. It's expanding your mind to think outside the box of your perceptions. It's relationship-building. It's really important, even though it's difficult to forecast the ROI of such "R&D"

I'm sure a "gun to your head" option, charged hourly, could be arranged to suit your particular requirements.

Hi Mozzers, My first Moz post! Yay! I'm excited to join the squad ๐Ÿ™‚ My client is a full service entertainment company serving the Washington DC Metro area (DC, MD & VA) and offers a host of services for those wishing to throw events/parties. Think DJs for weddings, cool photo booths, ballroom lighting etc. I'm wondering what the right URL structure should be. I've noticed that some of our competitors do put DC area keywords in their URLs, but with the moves of SERPs to focus a lot more on quality over keyword density, I'm wondering if we should focus on location based keywords in traditional areas on page (e.g. title tags, headers, metas, content etc) instead of having keywords in the URLs alongside the traditional areas I just mentioned. So, on every product related page should we do something like: example.com/weddings/planners-washington-dc-md-va
                                                                                                        example.com/weddings/djs-washington-dc-md-va
                                                                                                        example.com/weddings/ballroom-lighting-washington-dc-md-va OR example.com/weddings/planners
                                                                                                        example.com/weddings/djs
example.com/weddings/ballroom-lighting In both cases, we'd put the necessary location based keywords in the proper places on-page. If we follow the location-in-URL tactic, we'd use DC area terms in all subsequent product page URLs as well. Essentially, every page outside of the home page would have a location in it. Thoughts? Thank you!!

Hello Mozzers, I was wondering whether there's any best practice guidance out there re: how to deal with membership/subscriber (existing customer) only content on a website, from an SEO perspective - what is best practice? A few SEOs have told me to make some of the content visible to Google, for SEO purposes, yet I'm really not sure whether this is acceptable / manipulative, and I don't want to upset Google (or users for that matter!) Thanks in advance, Luke

Hi , One of the websites I'm promoting and working on is www.pau-brasil.co.il.
It's wordpress-based website and as you can see the html's Title is "PauBrasil | some hebrew slogan".
                                                                                                        (Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/2f80EEY.gif)
When I'm searching for "PauBrasil" (Which is the brand's name) , one of the results google shows is "PauBrasil: Some Hebrew Slogan" (Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/eJxNHrO.gif ) Why does the pipe is being replaced with ":" ?
And not just that , as you can see there's a "blank space" missing between the the ":" to the slogan.
(note: the websites has been indexed by google crawler at least 4 times so I find it hard to believe it can be the reason) I've keep on looking and found out that there's another page in that website with the exact same title
but when I'm looking for it in google , it shows the title as it really is , with pipe. ("|").
(Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/dtsbZV2.gif) Have you ever encountered something like that?
Can it be that the duplicated title cause that weird "replacement"? Thanks in advance,

I was hoping someone could give me some insight into a perplexing issue that I am having with my website. I run an 20K product ecommerce website and I am finding it necessary to have two pages for my content: 1 for content category pages about wigets one for shop pages for wigets 1st page would be .com/shop/wiget/ 2nd page would be .com/content/wiget/ The 1st page would be a catalogue of all the products with filters for the customer to narrow down wigets. So ultimately the URL for the shop page could look like this when the customer filters down... .com/shop/wiget/color/shape/ The second page would be content all about the Wigets. This would be types of wigets colors of wigets, how wigets are used, links to articles about wigets etc. Here are my questions. 1. Is it bad to have two pages about wigets on the site, one for shopping and one for information. The issue here is when I combine my content wiget with my shop wiget page, no one buys anything. But I want to be able to provide Google the best experience for rankings. What is the best approach for Google and the customer? 2.  Should I rel canonical all of my .com/shop/wiget/ + .com/wiget/color/ etc. pages to the .com/content/wiget/ page? Or, Should I be canonicalizing all of my .com/shop/wiget/color/etc pages to .com/shop/wiget/ page? 3. Ranking issues. As it is right now, I rank #1 for wiget color. This page on my site would be .com/shop/wiget/color/ . If I rel canonicalize all of my pages to .com/content/wiget/ I am going to loose my rankings because all of my shop/wiget/xxx/xxx/ pages will then point to .com/content/wiget/ page. I am just finding with these massive ecommerce sites that there is WAY to much potential for duplicate content, not enough room to allow Google the ability to rank long tail phrases all the while making it completely complicated to offer people pages that promote buying. As I said before, when I combine my content + shop pages together into one page, my sales hit the floor (like 0 - 15 dollars a day), when i just make a shop page my sales are like (1k+ a day). But I have noticed that ever since Penguin and Panda my rankings have fallen from #1 across the board to #15 and lower for a lot of my phrase with the exception of the one mentioned above. This is why I want to make an information page about wigets and a shop page for people to buy wigets. Please advise if you would. Thanks so much for any insight you can give me!

I have just had my site updated and we have put index.php at the end of all the urls. Not long after the sites rankings dropped. Checking the backlinks, they all go to (example)  http://www.website.com  and not http://www.website.com/index.php. So could this change have effected rankings even though it redirects to the new url?

Is diverting all the link juice to these inner pages from the main site navigation harmful?  Should we just create a page for GOLF PACKAGES and break it down on that page?
