Moving Top rank Page urls off my Home page and nesting them on one page? Good idea?
-
I am basically trying to cut down the amount of links on my home page to make it less eye boggling and move stuff around. So i have of my Urls on my home page that lead to pages that rank very well within google. My questions is can i remove those urls to a separate page to group them together and then showcase that one link to that page on my home page. Is that a good idea or i am going to loose my link juice and position in search? The physical urls on those pages wont change at all.

I am not positive I understand the question - so let me repeat what I think you are asking:
You want to remove links from your homepage that link to inner pages of your site, and move these to another page on your site - I am assuming the intent is to create a kind of "resource" list of links? Because you are just moving the links themselves and not moving them around in the site hierarchy - the URL is staying the same. Right?
If I am understanding correctly, then the answer is...it depends
Do the pages that you are moving have a lot of authority because there are a good amount of backlinks to those specific pages, or do they have a lot of authority because of their proximity to the homepage (1 click away).
I suggest running each page you are considering moving through Open Site Explorer and checking the incoming links and # of linking domains.
If it is the latter, then these should continue to rank well, but over time may begin to degrade in authority as they are now more clicks away from the homepage, and the PR of those will now spread to deeper pages of the site.
If it is the first, then there shouldn't be much of an issue, though you still may see a slight degradation over time because they are not as close to the homepage.
Overall, you shouldn't see too much of a loss. You can try to mitigate any losses by building quality links to these pages directly.

Wrong Page is Ranking
My client is an Ecommerce reseller of a few major scooter brands. We currently rank fifth for a particular brand name but our main brand page isn't the one that ranks. Instead, it's a product page. The main brand page has an A rating from Moz for the desired keyword phrases. Neither page has any backlinks. Any ideas on why our main brand page would be outranked by a product page? What could we do to change this?

How much SEO value does a fashion site get from bolting text onto the bottom of home page? Does the value compensate for cluttering up a page focused on an iconic image?
Getting ready to launch a completely redesigned site for a fashion designer. Since it is a fashion site, visitors do not need text to describe what the site is about., We are weighing three options: 1) clean design with no text (just images and navigational links), 2) bolting on a couple of sentences of text at the bottom of the page to signal keyword terms to the search engines, 3) following the lead of the top ranking site in the category and adding lots of text to the bottom of the page. Do the SEO benefits justify cluttering up the design by bolting text onto the bottom of the home page, and if so, how many characters of text seem to be the minimum to be effective?

Could incorrect H1 tag stop a page ranking?
A few weeks ago I added an image to the top of each page and somehow (I've only just noticed) the image was inside an h1 tag. Presumably this would be the first element google would crawl and would it consider the image the h1 possibly confusing google about the pages content? My actual h1 further down the page would then possible be disregarded by google? The pages I am talking about have dropped in google and I wonder if this could have been the issue?

My homepage no longer ranks for a keyword, instead a page from the blog now appears in the results
Hello, Our site used to rank for a specific keyword - "eco products", with a link going to the homepage. However, in the last few weeks, we've noticed that the home page no longer ranks for this keyword, and instead the second result on the page is a link to a catagory page on our blog. I'd be very grateful if anyone had any information about why this might have happened, and what possible steps I could take to remedy the situation. Many thanks, Sophy
