Full Crawl, now what?
-
Hi,
Ok, I logged in this morning to see my full crawl of over 250 pages. I must admit I was expecting an email to inform me and to perhaps outline what my next steps should be. During the last 7 days I have fixed most of the pages that had errors and also added more keywords, just like what was suggested when I first signed up. So, is there a suggested plan of action I should now take to help increase the rankings, perhaps I'm missing this from the email or something?
Thanks!

Hey
Right, I kind of understand where you are coming from here but you have to realise that SEOMoz provides a suit of tools and reports but will not actually SEO the site for you.
The full crawl and report is useful in that it will check the optimisation of your pages against your targeted search terms (so long as you entered them) and it will diagnose a raft of potential problems, errors and warnings so you can tackle these in a structured way.
You ideally want to get to a point where you have no issues or errors reported in the tool (or none that are a problem) and that side of things will just tick over and alert you to any potential problems as you run and manage your site as time goes on.
So, problem management aside you then have a bunch of other tools to help you research keywords, competition and link targets but again, these require some input for you to get the best from them.
What you need is a plan.
You need to start at the bottom, decide how you are going to attack this. Do your keyword research, optimise your pages, figure out your long term strategy to drive traffic, do you have a content marketing plan? What are you going to write, when is it going to go on the site, how will it be shared and promoted. How will you build links?
Once you have a plan and some structure, you can start to track some variables and this is where the SEOMoz tool becomes really valuable. You can see what the competition is doing, see how your efforts are working (or not) and keep a high level eye on some low level stuff without endless analysis.
Have you got a more general plan to move forward? What are your goals?

you should get an email once the crawl is complete, i get one each time my site is crawled.
in terms of what to do next that is kind of upto you? SEOmoz will give you the tools and if you check the blog it will give you plenty of information to implement an SEO strategy, but its down to you to put it into place.

I have more pages in my site map being blocked by the robot file than I have being allowed to be crawled. Is Google going to hate me for this?
Using some rules to block all pages which start with "copy-of" on my website because people have a bad habit of duplicating new product listings to create our refurbished, surplus etc. listings for those products. To avoid Google seeing these as duplicate pages I've blocked them in the robot file, but of course they are still automatically generated in our sitemap. How bad is this?

Crawl with cach problem
Hello, My Crawl results in Seomoz shows me that i have few thousands of 302 direct problem, bucause it was crawling links like http://www.sposae.com/abito-sposa-g2026-pr-347.html?action=buy_now and it would be redirected automatically to http://www.sposae.com/cookie_usage.php because of cookie not activated from the user. Now I'm wondering if this is an issue to be solved or just a minor thing without impact. Thanks

What's the best way to handle crawling of photo gallery?
When you have a photo gallery with many search filters and loads and loads of pages, is it best to block all the filters and use google's pagination code? Ex: http://photo.net/gallery/photocritique/filter This site has pages for many different queries. While the page titles are unique, the pages are showing duplicated content.

Error is not going away and crawling
I have fixed an error but its still showing in red as error. Im totally new to SeoMoz and to SEO in general so im not sure how this tool works. Did I fix it correctly or not if its still showing? It was a broken link and now it links up to another page. Do I just have to wait? My website only has 8 pages and on the dashboard it says crawled 8 pages but it takes up to a week for a full crawl? Im really confused. Thank you in advanced!

Can I exclude sub-domains from the crawl diagnostics?
I am working with a site with 7500 pages in a sub-domain. The root site has 650 pages, but I am having difficulty finding and working with those 650 pages due to all the "noise" from the sub-domain pages that are in Ning and can't be fixed. Can i exclude sub-domains from the crawl?

Waiting 3 days for Crawl Test to complete
Being new to seomoz Im not sure if I understand the crawl test completely. You setup a campaign, enter all your info, rogerbot goes out and crawls your site and gives you results as to what your doing right and what is wrong or could use looking into. So once I get my results, I make edits to my site pages. In my case Im getting lots of duplicate content and duplicate titles. So I go back and make adjustments and then submit a crawl test to see the change results. In other tools Ive used in past I was able to re run crawl immediately and fine tune results on the fly. seomoz crawl test is still pending after three days. is this normal? or is there another way to make changes and run reports to see results instantly? If your working on many sites and making changes, having to wait 3 or more days to see how your changes were received seems like a long time.

Crawl error: duplicate title for home page
I'm seeing a duplicate title for the home page, both the static file name and the domain. like: http://domain.com
On-Page Optimization | | joshcanhelp
http://domain.com/index.cfm I know how to set this in Google Analytics but how would I make sure this isn't seen as an error? It's accounting for both a duplicate title and duplicate content. Thanks!0 -
Should a crawl ever take more than 7 days?
I signed up to the 30 day trial last Saturday, however, as of yet, the crawl diagnostics page still says 'First crawl in progress'. Is this normal? Many thanks.
