Hi Peter,
I would say no It will not work for you if you do nothing but start adding your links to dozens of social bookmarking websites, Google or any other search engine will start ignoring your website. check my website http://www.rameezulhaq.com you will not find a single link from a social bookmarking website. and Currently I am ranked in top 5 for most of my primary keywordsHi Rameez
you are right websites with dozen of links of social bookmarking are mostly ignored or "dropped" by the crawlers for instance you can also check my website :https://humayounmussawar.com/ doesn't contain any link from social book marking site and my ranking and traffic both are good -
@mikeroberts Question for you - what if some spammer has added your url to a list then started copy pasting the list all over the Internet? Plus uses anchor text that has nothing to do with your site?
I've deleted the forum posts on my site they link back to - but am concerned this will give me too many 4xx errors. all links in forum posts are no follow,

Hi Peter,
It is basically a far old way but most people still do it. If your check my website https://iamrafay.com you will not see any of the social bookmarks links because the time has gone for using it. I hope it helps.

I agree with Mike. Stay away from automated tools if possible. One of the major social bookmarking sites is StumbleUpon, I believe you can also promote pages on The Youth International Pakistani Newspaper site as well. Just like every other social site, you will want to be somewhat active and contribute in order to get the best value.

I agree with the Mike that Social Bookmarking does work but not as much impact like it does before. If you really want to rank your on keywords you need to do your work on high authority sites. You can check my site https://www.umeranees.com and you will find less social bookmarking but find links from the high authority sites. Hope this comment will help you!

No automated software for linking is beneficial for your search engine rankings, and it's a good way to do more damage than good.
Create great, unique - query friendly copy and attract incoming / viral links from that. There is no shortcut to SEO.

Social bookmarking sites can be crawled and indexed by the Search Engines whereas most social media platforms likes Facebook and Twitter are not usually indexed and links are nofollowed. Starting a blog and regularly adding original content will help your site. Linking should be as natural as possible. Don't buy into any of those linking packages out there as they are likely to get you algorithmically penalized.

So basically it's probably best if I manually create the accounts? Is it either worth it other than facebook, twitter and google plus?
I know this is probably going a little off topic, however I'm fairly new to SEO so i could do with all the help i can get. I am currently trying to get my domain ranked www.van-plus.com for some keywords. What method's do you use? I've found a few ways but I think they seem spammy:
1. 20 x 2.0 links, 25 PR 1 links , 1 youtube linke, 100 social bookmarks, 20 -50 wiki links.
2. Concentrate more on blogs and creating 2.0 but with very varied anchor text. And also making sure I link something useful to people.
Thanks very much! Sorry to go off topic, I am so keen to learn it's unreal!

Social Bookmarking does still work but not as well as it may have in the past. It can still be a viable way to get traffic to your site but not necessarily always the most qualified traffic. Personally I'd say to stay away from any social bookmarking tools that will automate things for you because that will be a bit of a red flag if you're too spammy with adding your links. A more natural approach to getting your pages added to social bookmarking sites is the better way to go. Just don't expect it to magically increase you rankings, conversions, etc.

Recommended Social Media Scheduling platforms
I am currently using BufferApp to schedule my social media posts. My scheduling gets messed up at least once per month, where I lose posts or days are skipped, etc. without any changes (and even when I can see the expected schedule). I have used Hootesuite in the past and I like it, but I prefer Buffer when it works. Is there something else that works as good as Buffer used to? Thank you.

Tool like Followerwonk for Facebook?
Hi For Twitter using Followerwonk you can gauge the influence on what a person/brand is using a tool like Follwerwonk helping you find the most influential twitter users based on a number of metrics. But is there a similar tool for Facebook which shows which brands/companies Facebook sites have the most influence. Or is the best way to gauge this is just on their number of likes? which is not really accurate

Myth or Fact: Social Media Dashboards Bad for SEO?
I want to start using HootSuite to pre-schedule Facebook/Twitter updates, but am plagued by nagging concerns because I have heard that HootSuite may impact SEO in a negative way. Is this truth or bull? If it i true, how so, specifically? And can anything be done to mitigate the negative SEO factors? Also, does anyone prefer another dashboard over HootSuite? Thanks in advance for your inputs!

"Mister Wong" DoFollow Social Bookmarking Backlinks
Has anyone had any experience with the DoFollow social bookmarking tool "Mister Wong". Is it worth the fee for DoFollow links? Is this site subject to Google Panda penalties or others for essentially selling dofollow links? Is social bookmarking as a whole worth the time and effort? Does anyone have any alternative sites or strategies for acquiring a high volume of dofollow backlinks?

Social Media Approaches for a Pest Control Company
Hi Everyone, I am working with a pest control company that is looking to branch out into social media. Their primary goal is to connect with their existing customers to improve retention. The secondary goal is to potentially pick up new clients. With that said, I wanted to see if you all had some ideas on things that they could tweet/facebook about on a regular basis? Posting about bugs on a daily basis gets pretty boring. I know Rand has been talking a lot lately about not being so narrow, so maybe we should talk more about general home improvement? Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks! EDIT: I should clarify that this is a company that has maintenance plans. You don't call them only when you have a problem. You sign up with them, and they treat your property every 3 months, or whenever you call. Only about 2% of their customer base is one-off phone calls to fix 1 problem and never come back again. I don't think their existing customer base will have any issues with Liking them on Facebook or following them on Twitter. The initial plan is to incentivize them to do so, but once we get the like/follow, we want to continually be in front of them with interesting content, contests as Jay suggested, etc.

Tool/Method to find users on Twitter from a CSV file
I'm attempting to find users to follow and receive reciprocal follows for a client on twitter. Through the company's newsletter database, I have a CSV file of somewhere in the range of 20,000 email addresses and names. I've been importing them 250 at a time into an empty Gmail account then connecting that with twitter each time to find some of them. However, a lot of the PEOPLE using the email addresses on the mailing list are not on twitter but their COMPANY is. To find the company, I can obviously drop the name@ part of the email and just search by the domain but this becomes tedious real quick since it has to be one by one and cannot be bulk imported/searched. Are there any tools/ideas out there to more easily find twitter users based on a larger set of keywords and/or domain names?
