What Other Local Listing Aggragator are like Localeze, UBL, Yext?
-
Hey guys what do you all use for listing your sites? Current I use UBL, Yext, and Localeze. Would it benefit me to use more?
Also what other companies or services are like these three?
-
So basically, It wouldn't benefit me to use more than what I am already using?
-
It depends on the competitiveness of the niche. I like Yext for some clients, but basically, if you can get your client on UBL and Localeze you're covered for most of the other aggregators. Most of the Yext sites are even covered, you just don't get the granular control over them that Yext will give you. NSphere, Travidia, (depending on the niche of a site), citisearch, Dunn and Bradstreet (at least they used to have a local directory), and InfoUSA are also great places where a lot of content gets pulled from.
Using more aggregators isn't all that helpful, however. Most of these aggregators populate a lot of the same sites. To understand this ecosystem, GetListed's local search ecosystem chart is a really good resource as is David Mihm's local search ranking factors survey.

Yahoo Newspaper Consortium... What can my local newspaper offer me that Yahoo Ads won't?
Hi Everyone 🙂 I was recently approached by the Vancouver Sun and the Province (our major newspapers in BC), and they said they had an "exclusive partnership" with Yahoo. I can't seem to find much information on it... what is the "Yahoo Newspaper Consortium" and is there any benefit for me going with what the newspapers offer rather than doing our own thing with Yahoo Ads? Any resources or info is appreciated 🙂

Local SEO (UK)
Hi all, Question about 'local SEO' or 'Google Places' or whatever it is now called! 🙂 My day to day work is in house for a UK national travel agency and I pretty much know what is expected and what I need to do with regard to SEO. However, I have a friend who owns an 'upmarket' hair salon in my city of Sheffield (UK) and after a rebrand and a complete new website he has asked for my help with regard to 'local SEO' This is my dilemma, because the salon only wants to target the local area of Sheffield (5th largest city in UK with approximately 500k inhabitants) should I focus solely on 'Google Places' and if so, can anyone recommend any guides, books, or training that will give me an overview of what is required? I have previously 'touched' on citations and claiming the 'Google Place' but I could seriously do with a refresh! Many thanks Andy

Do you have to pay Yext at this point?
Over the past several months it seems more and more local listing sites are now using Yext for their listing information. Some of these include Local.com, American Towns, Hot Frog, etc. I'm not even seeing a way to claim listings anymore with these sites without going through Yext. If Yext has the wrong information, is there any way to correct these listings without paying Yext? I used to be able to claim listings with the actual listing sites. It was more labor intensive, but I didn't have to pay Yext $500/year. I could pay an assistant a lot less and they could do it. It seems that option is going away. Do any of you know of another way of correcting listings without using Yext (or at least without paying Yext)? If not, do you know if Yext has an enterprise solution for SEOs so we don't have to pay the $500 for every client? Thanks. Kurt Steinbrueck

Trying to de-mystify Google Places, Google Local & Google Plus
There is a lot of online 'noise' regarding the changes / merging and making the best out of Googles' Places / Local & Google Plus. Any tips, ideas, experiences or just plain revelations regarding all or any of the above services and how they will work & come together in the future?

How many FaceBook likes do I need to start making a difference?
Just started the social scene. We have a FaceBook page https://www.facebook.com/SMSPro.Safety.Management.System Only about a year old, and until two weeks ago, we had about 8-10 likes. Then I started working on getting likes (please like this page if you can). Question: How many Likes do I need for Google to start counting this as significant? Would also appreciate any comments on FaceBook page to help.

Are there any companies out there that can do Search Retargeting on a local level? I'd like to target a Metro area, or even a large city.
Are there any companies out there that can do Search Retargeting on a local level? I'd like to target a Metro area, or even a large city. I'm talking Search Retargeting, not Site Retargeting.

What can i do to regain top 3 for local map listings if I already created a bunch of citation link to my site?
I got hit by a penguin refresh on Oct 5th and lost over 10 #1 rankings. I'm currently #4 on the places listing for my main keyword and really trying to regain top 3 position. I created a bunch of local citation with matching info and really piped out my map listing since it is 100% complete. I'm quite stumped on how to further optimize my map listing to where i can hit top 3 positions. Does anyone have any recommendations on this issue? Thanks Sam

Microformats/ Snippets and local SEO
Hello, In several post and also in the webinar "all about google places" it is recomended to use Microformats to format the things like "Business Name", Adress, Phone , etc Apart from using ths microformats on the product/corporate page footer and contact form, would you recomend to also use microformats on blog and 3rd party website when mentioning the corporate contact details in order to increase the citation value ?
