Why can't FB find this url?
-
The other day we updated an old blog post, http://www.kempruge.com/flashing-headlights-no-good-deed/, and while it uploaded fine to g+ and the page is live, for some reason, FB says it can't find it. This has never happened to me before, so I don't know what to do? I tried posting other links to FB from our site, and they all worked, so I know it's not a problem with our site. Then, I tried posting the link using other FB accounts, but they did't work. So I know it's not our FB page.
I did do one thing that may have caused this problem, but not sure. After I updated this post, I scheduled it to post thinking it would do it immediately. I went to post the link on FB, before it was scheduled to publish in WP, and that's when I noticed it wasn't finding it. I went back to WP, and changed the schedule time. Once I did that, the page was live, but I can't get FB to recognize the page. It's like FB needs to clear its cache or something. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ruben

Glad to know that works, Andy! I was considering that as a last ditch effort. Thanks!

All working this end too.
In the past, extreme measures have had to be taken and I have re-written (well, copy and pasted) an entire post to a new post with an almost identical URL and then done a 301 to the new page. Always fixed it as a last resort

...I swear 20 minutes ago, and all of yesterday I couldn't get this thing to work...but it is now. Why I have no clue, but thanks!

Hey Ruben,
You may want to clear your cache for your browser, then restart the browser and log back in to Facebook. This is just a thought based on my test. I threw your link in my FB page and it seems to be loading the content and you can select 1 of 2 thumbnails. Have a look at the screenshot below.
See if that helps! Hope it does

Hi,
Sometimes FB seems to get a bit stuck on urls, I find running them through the fb url debug tool (https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/) usually seems to unstick them. I plugged that url into the tool, it returns ok, does it post properly now also?

Facebook won't spend my ad budget. Any recommendations?
What do you do when Facebook won't spend your ad budget, no matter what you do or how high you bid? We've tested a large audience (2.2 million reach) under a single ad set versus many smaller ad sets with tighter targeting (50-150k reach). We've tested auto bidding versus manual bidding with bids as high as 1000% higher than Facebook's recommended bid. We've tested many versions of creative with and without text overlay and our relevance scores are high. Nothing seems to work. Our Facebook rep and Facebook technical support keep recommending to stay with one ad set and one ad, but that's not spending either. Most days we are getting less than 20% budget utilization. Has anyone experienced this situation before? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Is Pinterest's Embed a Pin good for SEO?
I was curious if by having Pinterest embed pins on my site will add SEO value... This would be used mainly on product pages for alternative images, closeup detail, any type of image to answer a customers question. I would accompany the pin with more text as another way of adding content to the page. Example on my site: Wicker Sofa product page with Pinterest Embed live. Also attached the screenshot of the code that is used by Pinterest pin embed widget. Hoping that extra unique content + social activity repins or follows, would help my store's SEO. Thank you for your answers in advance... 3uqUz57.png

Does a 301 redirect pass along Google +1's from the old url to the new one?
When I 301 redirect a page that has content that has been +1'ed by our visitors, I would assume that Google would handle a +1 the same as a link and pass this authority along to the new url. Has anyone had any experience or heard directly from Google confirming this behavior?

SEO w/o Social Webinair experiment - how can RTs of a URL of a google search possibly affect the position of one of the search results?
I missed the webinair but have just been going through the slides. Looking forward to watching the video when its up. I have a question however regarding the experiment conducted by Rand to find out: Is Social Influencing Primary Algorithms (slides 7 - 20) The suggestion is that an RT of a google search URL affects the ranking of one individual ranking site. The +1 side of the experiment I understand completely - it is clear how Google can see that there is a social preference for the site and reward accordingly. But how would retweeting the search result URL possibly affect its rankings? Is the suggestion that those doing the experiment also clicked on the relevant link? And if so, how is Google discerning that this additional traffic is down to Twitter? I feel I am missing something incredibly obvious. Anyone want to help me out here?... otherwise I'm not going to sleep tonight...
