YouTube hosting question
-
The "How it works" video that is embedded on my sites homepage is currently linked to an individual YouTube account not our company account.
I would like to change the ownership so that the company profile can enjoy the added views (currently 13K +). Is there a way to move the video to a different account without losing the views it has already accumulated?
Also, a related technical question - our R&D team says the video is slowing down the site. It links to YouTube but there is nothing in the source of our page about YouTube. Any suggestions for embedding it more effectively?
-
No, you can't migrate the video.
in terms of embedding - an iframe is super lightweight. Just embed a YouTube iframe and you should be fine.

I agree with Moosa I think you can probably move your account without losing the views however I would not understand why you would want to move it but regardless. I think a great tool for what Moosa he is talking about with the JavaScript is feed the bot's page speed if you follow instructions in this you can optimize your site for speed and see some pretty dramatic changes.

I think YouTube is very slow unfortunately even though it is an extremely powerful platform video is bandwidth hungry and without looking at your URL I could not tell you if I believed that your video embeds were slowing down the site however I doubt it. Sorry for the long post but this I think is relevant to your question regarding Site speed and video hosting.
as far is changing the ownership of your YouTube account I do believe that your views follow your videos to a new account.
I do not believe there is a way to move your videos to a different account without losing the shown views however if they are doing this well anyway you can move it to a video host like Wistia and simply let your customers know on YouTube that your new videos are at the link below the video you once had hosted on YouTube.
In Wistia you can show the amount of view's you may even want to talk to the company and explain your situation they may simply give you the credit for their views on YouTube on their service.
I do not know if you want to get traffic to your website or not but I would look at Wistia.com for the reasons described here
http://wistia.com/learning/advanced-seo-with-distilled
on top of that if you are doing things that teach people how to do things related to your business a good example would be whiteboard Friday and that is spoken about right here

definitely check out your sites weaknesses and strengths using the tools below.
You may also want to buy screaming frog SEO spider this will allow you to check for multiple problems but before you spend money on that in less you need it for something else definitely use these free tools below specially Google pageSpeed
http://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/
http://www.feedthebot.com/pagespeed/
http://www.feedthebot.com/tools/
you might just need to add a content delivery network or have your site audited use real user measurement to determine how slow your site really is Neustar , CopperEgg NewRelic & Pingdom are excellent for this purpose.
As far as speed up your existing infrastructure if you are happy where you are I would look at edge cast, Max CDN, cloud proxy and cloud flare though I do not think very highly of the last offer cloud flare.
I do not want to say it is not possible, but it sounds to me like you have an issue with their coding or with your hosting company.
Are you on a shared server? If so look at faster servers. If you want managed I like firehost.com their fast and they are safe There also around USD400 a month if you want to spend less than USD50 and get very fast hosting
check out speedy rails or Linode
https://www.speedyrails.com/ starting at USD15 a month for a VPS with SSD's and edge cast CDN that is a pretty sweet deal. There also throwing in DynECT DNS and all of this out of Peer1 data centers.
https://www.linode.com/ now has amazing SSD's
If you do not want to spend much money at all no worries you can get into a very fast host for under five dollars today
now if you do not care about managed hosting you can get excellent speed and service from both of these companies for prices starting literally under five dollars per a SSD VPS
here are a couple others of all types of prices that I know are good.
If you want managed hosting and a VPS will do these are in the $50 up range
http://www.servint.net/ssd-vps-about.php
https://www.linode.com/managed note this company was provided above as well they have both non-managed and unmanaged
http://www.liquidweb.com/StormServers/ssd.html
http://www.rackspace.com/cloud/servers/
if you want what I think is the best then take a look at fire host
I hope this answer was what you were looking for. I Tried to touch on everything with out knowing if you are talking about moving off of YouTube or not hopefully this is helpful to you.

I don’t think there is any way you can shift the video to a different account without losing the videos and shares on that video. I am not really an expert but doing this does not make any sense to me!
As far as embedded code is concern, if you are using the one that is available on Youtube, the website should not slow down as the video is not hosted on your website. My advice would be to check some other JS in the header or on the page and see if you can optimize them as this usually cause a delay in page load time.
Hope this helps!
Again, I never played with videos much so my comment can’t be considered as expert opinion.

Content Strategy/Duplicate Content Issue, rel=canonical question
Hi Mozzers: We have a client who regularly pays to have high-quality content produced for their company blog. When I say 'high quality' I mean 1000 - 2000 word posts written to a technical audience by a lawyer. We recently found out that, prior to the content going on their blog, they're shipping it off to two syndication sites, both of which slap rel=canonical on them. By the time the content makes it to the blog, it has probably appeared in two other places. What are some thoughts about how 'awful' a practice this is? Of course, I'm arguing to them that the ranking of the content on their blog is bound to be suffering and that, at least, they should post to their own site first and, if at all, only post to other sites several weeks out. Does anyone have deeper thinking about this?

SEO question regarding rails app on www.site.com hosted on Heroku and www.site.com/blog at another host
Hi, I have a rails app hosted on Heroku (www.site.com) and would much prefer to set up a Wordpress blog using a different host pointing to www.site.com/blog, as opposed to using a gem within the actual app. Whats are peoples thoughts regarding there being any ranking implications for implementing the set up as noted in this post on Stackoverflow: "What I would do is serve your Wordpress blog along side your Rails app (so you've got a PHP and a Rails server running), and just have your /blog route point to a controller that redirects to your Wordpress app. Add something like this to your routes.rb: _`get '/blog', to:'blog#redirect'`_ and then have a redirect method in your BlogController that simply does this: _`classBlogController<applicationcontrollerdef redirect="" redirect_to="" "url_of_wordpress_blog"endend<="" code=""></applicationcontrollerdef>`_ _Now you can point at yourdomain.com/blog and it will take you to the Wordpress site._

Wrong Website Showing Up On Knowledge Graph - Car Dealer SEO Question
Hi Everyone, I have a client who has two website platforms, one of them is mandated by the manufacturer and the other is the one we use and is linked up to our Google Plus/Maps/etc. accounts. The one that is manufacturer mandated is showing up on the Google Knowledge graph and this is not ideal for us. Unfortunately, we cannot get rid of the other site because it is mandated. So how do we go about fixing this issue? I Had a few ideas, and I'd like to know if they would work. If you can think of something that's outside of the box, I'd appreciate it. 1.) Put a rel=canonical across the website 2.) Remove all keywords that might trigger it to show up on the knowledge graph from the URL of the non ideal site 3.) Go for a .net or .us domain. Do these kind of domains have less authority and are less likely to show up in a google search? Thanks!

Question about New Client with Manual Actions / Partial Matches in GWT
We just signed on a new client and are gaining access to their Analytics, GWT, etc... In GWT, we quickly went to "Manual Actions" as the client stated they've been slipping in rankings the past couple months from 1 to 4 to 8 and have been staying at around 7/8 for 15 of their main keywords. Without getting into the specifics of their keyword rankings, I'm curious to know when they may have received the Partial Matches Manual Action from Google. I checked Messages and saw nothing about the Manual Actions update. Can anyone lend some advice as we are most likely going to have to put together a Disavow text file and begin sending requests to take down links. Thank you in advance. Hope this was clear enough, but let me know if you need more info. Patrick uOGsyKh.jpg

Pagination Question: Google's 'rel=prev & rel=next' vs Javascript Re-fresh
We currently have all content on one URL and use # and Javascript refresh to paginate pages, and we are wondering if we transition to the Google's recommended pagination if we will see an improvement in traffic. Has anyone gone though a similar transition? What was the result? Did you see an improvement in traffic?

Question | Blogger, Godaddy, HostGator
If I buy a new domain and do forwarding with masking to my blogger post URL what would happen to the backlinks that were pointing to my blog post exactly? Will the power link back to this new domain or will it stay there? I have a blogger account, a domain from godaddy, and hosting? People are telling me that forwarding with masking is bad for <acronym title="Search Engine Optimization">SEO</acronym> so I should set blogger with godaddy or something like that I don't know. I need a hosting though in order to do that and free ones don't offer changes to the CNAME records? so I got hostgator. I am up to the part where I need to set the records in the CNAME for hostgator but every time I try to list ghs.google as the whatever, it won't work! It keeps telling me the record is already there when this is my FIRST time using this! How can it be there when I haven't even touched it? Please help me This is the tutorial im using : http://support.google.com/blogger/bi...381&page=ts.cs I get stuck here: Find the control panel on your domain registrar’s website, and locate your DNS (Domain Name System) settings. In order to link your blog to your custom domain, follow the instructions below to enter your "CNAME" and "A-records."
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | 678648631264
CNAME
Where it says Name, simply enter "www" and list ghs.google.com as the Host Name. See our detailed instructions on providing CNAMEs for various registrars. If yours isn't listed, or if you run into other difficulties, contact your registrar directly and they can help you out.
A-records (optional)
The following action links your naked domain (example.com) to your actual site (www.example.com). If you skip this step, visitors who leave off the "www" will see an error page.
Enter your domain name in the format example.com, and list the I.P. addresses shown below in the "A" section. You'll need to create four separate A-records which point to four different Google IPs. 216.239.32.21
216.239.34.21
216.239.36.21
216.239.38.21 Could I just leave my forwarding with masking on with my domain + blogger to make everything easier or what? And, is there any benefit in SEO if I don't have an EMD but it's something like this www.General.com/Keyword 1 www.General.com/Keyword 2/Posts/etc0 -
Retargeting questions
The question is in reference to SEOmoz post - http://www.seomoz.org/blog/retargeting-basics-what-it-is-how-to-use-it 1. What is the size of a retargeting pixel and who places it on the site ? Is it the retargeting company ? Can we place it ourselves ? Does a code have to be added to the site ? 2. In the post mentioned above, the author talks about "burn pixel" "If a person in your audience converts then a "burn pixel" will fire" What do you mean by burn pixel ? How do we come to know that a burn pixel has fired ?
