Combine .com and .co.uk domain? So forward .co.uk to .com for SEO?

Hello,
A new client of mine has an .com and an .co.uk domain. Both the same content (and they don't have the capacity to make specific content on both domains).
I am thinking building al domain authority to 1 domain. In this case the .com domain.
And forward the .co.uk to this .com domain.
In this way, the .com will rank in both UK as in other English speaking countries, right? Or not?
Or should I use therel="alternate" hreflang="x" tag?I am not sure. But I do know big brands rank high in the Netherlands with .com domains (for example booking.com).
Looking forward on feedback on best practices here...

As far as I can see, if the content is exactly the same on both the .com and .co.uk sites and you intend to keep it this way for the forseeable future, then there is no point maintaining both. Put all your efforts into developing and maintaining the .com site. Not only will this ensure that you are able to build the authority of one domain, it will also ensure that all your social media activities will be for the one site rather than sharing both .com and .co.uk URLs.
Alternatively, if you want to differentiate your content slightly for a global and a separate UK audience then hreflang across the.com and .co.uk sites is the way to go.

Ok, thanks. This is helpful. But I am still wondering if it wouldn't be better if the client only uses the .com domain and target with this domain also in the UK.
In this way you only have to build authority on the .com domain instead of on two domains?Or does Google sent the authority build on the .com domain trough to the .co.uk domain with these codes?

Hi,
Instead of implementing 301 redirects, would recommend that you implement Alternate tags.
Assuming that you have only .com and .co.uk domains and that .com domain caters to the whole world, the following code needs to be placed -
In case .com caters to US then place the following code -
The highlighted part will vary depending on the URL of the pages.
In addition you can also specify alternate tags in the XML sitemap. You can refer Google support document here

Is having a .uk.com domain a hindrance for long-term SEO?
I know there has been some mention on Moz Q&A for .uk.com, but not for at least 3 years. So I wanted to see if any Mozzers out there knew if having a .uk.com domain would hinder our SEO long-term? Our company is finally now taking SEO seriously and we're planning some great stuff for the year ahead, but I have a feeling that our .uk.com domain may prevent us from out-ranking some of the bigger companies out there. Buying Expired Domains with Decent DA/PA for SEO Purposes
Hey guys, i've seen some stuff about this before but I recently found an opportunity to put it into action and wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting into! I am looking at buying a domain (expired and now only 10 dollars) that has a decent domain authority and has some keywords in it related to my clients practice. I plan on using a 301 redirect to pass "link juice" because this client is looking for a quick bump in rankings. Thoughts? Benefits? Problems with this?

When should you redirect a domain completely?
We moved a website over to a new domain name. We used 301 redirects to redirect all the pages individually (around 150 redirects). So my question is, when should we just kill the old site completely and just redirect (forward/point) the old domain over to the new one?

If I own a .com url and also have the same url with .net, .info, .org, will I want to point them to the .com IP address?
I have a domain, for example, mydomain.com and I purchased mydomain.net, mydomain.info, and mydomain.org. Should I point the host @ to the IP where the .com is hosted in wpengine? I am not doing anything with the .org, .info, .net domains. I simply purchased them to prevent competitors from buying the domains.

Keep multiple domains or combine them?
I need some help figuring out if I should combine multiple domains or if I should let them be separate? I have domain1.com, domain2.com, and domain3.com. Well, domain1.com owns domain2.com and domain3.com. And currently domain1.com points to domain2.com and domain3.com from the homepage. They are going through some changes at their business, and now the option is on the table to combine the domains or still let them be separate as long as they link to each other. What is the best way to handle this and are there more things I should go through before making a decision? Help - .ie vs .co.uk in google uk
We have a website that for years has attracted a high level of organic searches and had a very high level of links. It has the .ie extension (Ireland) and did very well when competing in the niche market it is in on google.co.uk. We have the same domain name but in .co.uk format and basically redirected traffic to it when people typed in .co.uk instead. Since the latest panda update, we have noticed that the number of visits organically has dropped to a quarter of what it was and this is continuing to go down. We have also noticed that the .ie version is no longer listed in google and has been replaced by .co.uk. As we've never exchanged or submitted links for the .co.uk domain this means there are only links indexed in google. Is there any way I can get google to re-index the site using the .ie domain rather than the .co.uk domain? I am hemorrhaging sales now and becoming a much more withdrawn person by the day!!! PS - the .co.uk domain is set up as a domain alias in plesk with both .ie and .co.uk domain dns pointing to the the same IP address. Kind Regards
