SEO For Replacement Site
-
I have a client with a website that has gotten a bit outdated. We've already built his new website and optimized it, but I'm trying to figure out the best way to replace the site while doing the least amount of damage to his current Google rankings. He's ranking #1 for some very competitive keywords that are responsible for the bulk of his revenue, so we want to jeopardize that.
We've already built a new site and written all new content, although the homepage page title, h1 header and meta descriptions will all remain what they currently are. I'm also trying to keep the keyword density as close to the current site as possible. I am aware of transferring all existing site URLS using 301 redirects.
Can anyone provide any tips that I should use when replacing the site? Should I expect a slight rankings drop or am I worrying about nothing?

We've done this before and usually, we get dips for some keywords, most will stay the same.
We prepare ourselves mentally each time we have to do this LOL. As long as the redirects/content are in-place and you provide a better user experience without affecting load speed, then we are confident enough to just go on and do it.
The rewards for the "risk" is always greater.

On-Site Optimization Issue!
Hello, I have some confusion about how to structure my site to better in on-site optimization. I am using WordPress. Therefore, there are many things that I need to consider as following: Static Page for homepage OR Latest posts? Archive, Category, Author, Attachment and Tag pages - To put meta robots (no index, follow) or not to prevent duplication? If I use Static Page for homepage, do I need to add meta robots (no index, follow)Â to POINT 2 above or not? If I use Latest Posts for homepage, do I need to add meta robots (no index, follow)Â to POINT 2 above or not? To have breadcrumb or not? To have recent posts, comment, tag clouds or popular posts/comments widget or not? To have social sharing icons and related posts in single post or not? If you don't mind adding more tips that I don't know it would be very great! Thanks!

Bullet points good or bad for seo?
Hi Everyone, After a body of unique content of say 50 words, will Google then penalise you for adding bullet points which will then be duplicated across all those products (say 100 products)? http://www.polesandblinds.com/acacia-teal-roller-blind/? Look forward to your comments, good or bad, Thanks Jonathan

Does Channeladvisor really assist in SEO?
I'm getting emails from Channeladvisor recommending I join, thereby taking advantage of a change to Google Shopping. It is starting in Australia from today (13Feb13). Is it an upgraded version of Google  Adwords, or another form of a Commerce Merchant (obviously with multiple channels,e.g. Ebay, Amazon etc)? With Adwords, I found it too expensive for the type of product we sell (printer cartridges). But the real question is, DO MY RANKINGS DROP FROM NOT USING CHANNEL ADVISOR?

SEO for standard website pages
How do you folks approach adding some SEO value to the standard "every site has them" pages like "About Us", "Contact Us" and such? I struggle trying to find some relevant non-branded content. We normally cover all the customers relevant services and product offerings in pages specfiically tailored to that content, but don't want to waste pages if they could have some value in drawing traffic. Any great ideas, Mozworld? Thanks, Mark

What is the most SEO friendly Shopping Cart?
What is the most SEO friendly shopping cart? Â I have been using zen-cart for 6 years. Â Seems Google doesn't like it as much as other carts. Â I started a new site about 6 months ago using Magento. Â When I build links to this site the terms move. Â The terms are very similar. Â So I would imagine the competition is the same. Â I am curious if anybody has tried with different carts and found anyone to be better than the others. Â Also the new site has about one tenth the amount of products but has a lot more pages indexed.

Seasonal site structure
Bit of a complicated one for anyone who likes a challenge.. We sell a range of products which are very seasonal, so therefore have a seasonal section within the store with the products categorized into their relevant categories. In additon to this i wanted to also create a feature of each season so in effect pull forward on to a new tab the relevant season ie: Valentine so that customers didn't have to hunt for the products by going via seasonal shop etc The problem is that my site urls display last-category/product-title so in effect as the seasons change these urls will be deleted. They do remain elsewhere in our catalogue.. Does this make sense?
